Space Saving Folding Tecniques

We are always looking for ways to utilize our space more efficiently without having to get rid of things. Organizing and de cluttering is a multi million if not billion dollar industry, because we are always trying to find the best ways to live with lots and lots of stuff.

At times i wonder if we realize that we create more work for ourselves when we continue to gather things into our homes. How many pairs of shoes do we really need? Or how many pairs of socks (that we typically can't find a partner for, the laundry monster seems to lurk in everyone homes when it comes to socks) do we need?

What about underwear or nightclothes, or t shirts. Ever ask yourself if all the things you are making space for is really necessary to your enjoying your life?

Well i know i have my moments when i see all the laundry that needs to be done or i can't find space to put everything away, frustrating. It is really a good rule of thumb to get rid of stuff when you bring new stuff into your home.

Even basic things like towels, and sheets should be re evaluated. I am a firm believer in using everything you spend your hard earned good money on while you are alive to enjoy it. Even if you use it as a decorative accent in your design scheme you should use that precious china at least once a year.

That is why things are made for you to enjoy! Your life would be less stressed as well if you go ahead and have fun with all your stuff.

Thing is we are always striving to have more space. Since we tend to allow things to accumulate we are in a never ending cycle to find a space for it.

There are a few tips, tricks and techniques to taking care of the overflow and the limited space you are experiencing in your home. If you are unwilling to get rid of those things use these, they will definitely help!

The best way to find extra space in your house is to organize, but how you pack stuff in those organized areas is also vital, for example my clothes may be organize but am i using the space to it's best possible capacity.

Ask your self the question "how can i make room for more stuff in my t shirt drawer, or my underwear drawer or my linen closet?"

The answer is - folding!

Folding

Folding is the number one way to save space. The more efficient way that you fold up an article makes organizing that article ever so easy. The smaller, more compact way you fold up something is going to find you precious inches, as well as give you better visibility for what you are looking for when you open the drawer.

These tips are also great for packing a suitcase when you travel.

What are you folding?

T shirt, these are manageable and can be folded smaller than you think, it just depends on how you finish your folding technique.

Towels, there are several ways to fold a towel, and they can all be used for the washcloth and the hand towel as well.

Sheets, once you have folded your sheet sets up again place them inside the bottom part of the matching pillowcase, fold the pillow case in half and place on the shelves in your linen closet or open wicker basket or drawer. This keeps your set together for easy access because all the pieces are all together. This also uses up less space and makes your sheets sets more compact on your selves, basket or drawer.

  4. Blanket, Duvet or Comforter

Underwear, can be a little more tricky but these to can be trained to take up less space, so that you can quickly get your hand on what you are looking for when you need something.

Baby clothes, these small pieces are usually easy, typically you can just fold and throw them in the drawer with little or no worries. But as baby gets bigger you will need to start paying attention to your space and how you will organize their stuff as well.

  4. Bib

Recommendation - The best thing you can do for yourself is to organize all drawers first thus giving them a designation for instance, the t shirt drawer or shelf, the sock & underwear drawer, and accessories etc.

Things to help with all of your organization needs. Place them under chairs, tables, beds or on shelves.

  • suitcases
  • decorative boxes
  • laundry baskets
  • under the bed plastic boxes or containers

Never allow any space to go unused or under utilized, add boxes or baskets anywhere especially empty places like in corners etc.

Another thing- what you can't fold up and put in drawers go ahead and put on a hanger and place in the closet. If you have empty suitcases, you can go ahead and use them to pack up your seasonal clothing, so that they are out of the way. Also remember to fold things right out of the dryer, or hang them up, you will have less wrinkles and an easier time straightening out the fabric and folding the items.

Nothing has to be difficult and once you are organized and use the simple techniques outlined here you will be well on your way to seeing your way to freedom.
