The Writer Shares His Thoughts

Created July 15, 2015

I enjoy writing. It allows me self expression , and an escape from hot weather. It is summer, and we live in the south .

I thank God I can be with my family. I wish I would not have to struggle , for air in our home. I try my best to put humor in my situation in order to make my wife, and daughter not worry about me so much, and to realize that even humor , and acting silly, or goofy can enable my struggles to breathe , seem less serious. I use Spiriva , and a rescue inhaler. Now that I have a pacemaker, and stints helping my heart, my anxiety is being more controlled. Coughing causes me to struggle to breathe. This is when I fight desperately , for air in order to live. This is my most vulnerable moment. I do my best to not have Joann, or Becky to see me when this happens. Becky , and Joann, and even our loving pets watch over me. If I lay my head down on the kitchen table to try to sleep, our cat Boo will come to bump my head with his head. I kiss Boo on his lips, and he kisses me back. Our home is nothing , but love.

Trying to sleep is almost impossible unless I am very tired. If I lie down I have trouble breathing. The result is that I rarely sleep, and if I do, I have to sleep sitting up.This is also when I need my rescue inhaler.

Our daughter Becky loves chocolate milk. Today Joann will drive to the store to buy some, for Becky. We could make it ourselves, but Becky prefers the store bought kind.

On hot days stay hydrated. Drink plenty of liquids. Becky likes ice tea, soft drinks, and chocolate milk.

A good easy snack can be Manwich sandwiches. All you need is a can of Manwich , and a pound of good ground beef.

Buy you some hamburger buns. Cook the ground beef. After it is cooked, drain the fatty liquid from it. Mix the beef with the Manwich.

Break up, and stir you're mixture of cooked ground beef that has been modified by you're Manwich.

Take a large spoon, and scoop some Manwich in you're hamburger buns. The food is delicious with a large Coca Cola with plenty of ice. This makes a great summer meal, with potato chips as a snack.

We love our little God's gifts like our cats, and dog. Little Candy is a small hound dog. She cuddles behind us, or sleeps with all of us. She follows us every where we go around our home.

Sweet Pea always stays with Becky. Where Becky goes, Sweet Pea goes. Joann calls Sweet Pea a velcro cat.

Boo, and our Black cat come to visit us. They are two large beautiful cats that love us a lot.

Music is a must in our home. I play a keyboard, trumpet, guitars, a mandolin, drums, a flute, and even the violin . The trumpet takes the wind out of me, but I hope it helps.

Becky listens to a lot of all types of music from cassette disks.

Joann likes good programs from television .

Our cats, and dog love good food, fresh water, and affection .

Hi Lee; so good to hear from you! I really smiled about Becky's velcro cat! My cat is gone now for two days, sure hope she will be back. Do yours sometimes take off for a day or two or more?

Don't forget those sugarfree menthol cough drops (I get mine at Dollar General) and they really help me in summer when I have trouble breathing sometimes. Just seems to keep me open up to breathe.

Thanks for sharing your family and life with us.

We all love you all!

Dear Jackie : How sweet it is to hear from you dear heart. Thank you , for dropping by. Our cats stay indoors because we have a highway kind of close by. In my life I have seen dozens of animals slain on our major highway.

We lost many cats that we loved. The male cats would roam , and cross the highway. A few mother cats got killed on the highway too. Our cats are so accustomed to being indoors that they rarely think of the outdoors. We only have five cats now.

Animals love the outdoors. I'm glad you're cat enjoys the outdoors. Wishing you, and you're family much joy, and we love you too dear heart.

Hi Stars. You have so much love in your life which must mitigate the suffering. My grandpa, a doc., said playing the trumpet was often advised for consumptives in his day. He said "It either killed 'em or cured 'em!" Really. You must have some lung power left to play the horn

Sweet article. I love the image of the "Velcro cat."

Love Bob

Dear Diogenes : Thank you , for writing , and I hope all is well , for you. You're grandpa is cool. I figured the trumpet might strengthen my lungs. I also have a flute, and some harmonicas. The instruments are fun, and economical. I buy from Musician's Friend . It is on the internet. They send what I want UPS right to our porch.

Becky prefers cassette disks. She has a large collection . Stay cool , and hydrated , for the summer. God Bless You.
