Finding the best took a lot of tests

I've been trying to cook eggs on different pans and on different occasions, but I've never been able to cook them quite the way my grandmother cooks them. Her scrambled eggs were always satisfying. The taste would always be fresh, yummy, and not burned, like mine.

My scrambled eggs look like murdered eggs, and if you could just see the pan I used - it was so messy and some parts of the scrambled eggs that were stuck had burned on, making it hard for me to wash it afterwards so I still had to soak it in water for ages before I could wash it.

Then I remembered Grandma used to use one of those big heavy iron skillets whenever she cooked. Those skillets sure were heavy but they are the best thing for the job.

So, I tried some skillets - the ones termed as the “best-sellers” on Amazon. I bought some eggs, onions and other things to fry, and hey presto! No more murdered eggs.  These are the best of the ones I tried.

This is a very versatile skillet - It can be used in an oven and on a stove, you can even take it camping, and use it on open fires. It’s thick and it’s durable, and certainly as good as my Grandma's.

The wonderful taste you get from using cast iron is the second best thing about this skillet - after the fact that my scrambled eggs look the way they should. I will say - it is a bit on the heavy side, and although it has a handle to assist - watch out of you try and pick it up one-handed.

Aside from that it is also easy to clean and with its unique design who would not like to hang and brag those beautiful pair for friends to see? The handle is also great, it doesn’t heat up. You can definitely hold it while cooking.

Highly recommended from a reputable maker, these are an excellent alternative to cast iron.

We use a Lodge skillet like the one pictured. It is great and much better than the expensive stainless skillet we also have, which almost never gets used. We also us a cast-iron dutch oven similar to the one pictured here, but a different brand. Love it too.

A good quality iron skillet or dutch oven is flat on the bottom so you can use it on modern stove-tops.
