The Little Yellow Bird. Part 27. Chicks Are Born.

Wednesday, February 11, 2011

It was early this morning when I felt movement under my feathers. I noticed my three baby chick eggs were moving. My husband asked me what was happening. I told him that our chicks were cracking their shells.

Quickly he got out of bed and grabbed hold of our cell phone. I told him to call my mom and dad. He did exactly that, and then he made another call to the Pentagon. I did not know that he had special instructions to call the Pentagon.

Mom and dad quickly got out of bed. They got dressed, they grabbed some breakfast snacks like dinner rolls, and boxed them, and then got into their Thunder bird and headed our way. Dad brought along his digital camera.

My husband talked to someone at the Pentagon, and then he got dressed. For the first time in our lives he had kept a secret from me. He had a brief case, and in it was a uniform from the United States Navy. It belonged to him. My husband smiled and then gave me a great big kiss, and asked me if everything would be all right. I said, "Yes, but whats going on ?"

He hesitated and told me that the President asked him if he could make his graduation date at Bird University come sooner. My husband told him that he would ask the dean of the college to talk to someone from the Pentagon because he had passed all of his college courses.

My husband explained to me that our country needed him as soon as possible, but he said he would not leave without my approval. I told him that I loved him very much , and our unborn chicks love him too, and that if America needs him to do what he must do.

My husband remained with me by our nest as our chicks began to crack their shells. Our three baby chicks, you could see their tiny beaks as they chipped away at their shells.

My mom and dad ran inside of our Folgers can, and straight to our bedroom nest. Mom gave me a big hug, and dad hugged my husband. Their was a lot of hugging and stuff going on, and then my daddy took pictures of our chicks cracking their shells.

My pediatrician even arrived again. He carefully watched to see that everything was working out fine as he saw the chicks coming out of their shells all wet , with their baby feathers all soaked up. We had soft bath towel waiting for them to gently dry them all up.

Then we all heard what was definitely a helicopter in the air. Slowly and carefully a Marine helicopter landed in the yard by the house trailer. The old man from inside the house peeked from behind some curtains to see what was happening. His wife Joann, and sweet little Becky looked out of their picture window as a Red Cross nurse flew on their porch. She was one fancy bird wearing a pretty red and white arm band, and she had a large case of stuff with her that she was carrying to the Folgers can with the help of a Marine Corp soldier dressed in a very sharp uniform.

The old man, and Becky and Joann were happy for us, and were surprised beyond belief, and then the family in the house trailer sat by their kitchen table to have their lunch.

The Red Cross Nurse was here to stay. She would be helping me a while because my husband had to leave for advanced mission training by the U.S. Navy, and from the CIA.

My husband gave our chicks gentle kisses, and then he gave me a great big hug before he left with the Marines in their helicopter.

I cried tears of joy for our baby chicks, and for my husband , and I wondered if I would ever hear from him, or see him again. He told me not to worry about food, or clothes or anything because he would have everything arranged. He said all I had to be was the sweet wonderful mother to our chicks like I am.

Mom and dad said my husband would be fine, and so did the Red Cross nurse, and the Pediatrician as the nurse and I fed our chicks with little silver spoons, their delicious Gerberbaby food. Our Pediatrician took out a stethoscope to listen to the hearts of our chicks. He said the chicks were fine.

Our chicks had very large mouths, and they wasted no time in opening them very large and wide as the nurse and I fed them flavors like Pineapple, Peach, and Banana flavored deserts that came from the Navy. They hated greens, but they had to eat them. It was a busy day, and a lot of diapers to change. The red cross nurse helped me to do some powdering of tail feathers of our chicks.

My husband would have months of training , and missions I knew not where.

To be continued:

God Bless Everyone.
