What is a Kegerator Conversion Kit

Updated on December 2, 2010

Turn that old fridge into a Beer Machine!

There is always a good reason to throw a party.  Maybe it is your friend’s birthday party.  Perhaps your team finally made it to the Superbowl.  Maybe it is just Saturday night.  Whatever the reason, nothing brings a party to life like an endless supply of cold beer on tap.

Keg Fridge Kegerator

Why should I get a Kegerator instead of buying cans and bottles?

The problem is that cans and bottles end up all over the place. In the yard, under the couch, wherever they can end up they will end up. Beer kegs are great, but they can get nobody wants a flat warm beer. But if you buy a kegerator, or better yet convert your own old fridge into a kegerator, you can keep your beer as fresh as your party.

A kegerator is a simple converted fridge that contains a keg of beer which is constantly on tap to a faucet on the outside of the fridge. Inside, the keg, a canister of CO2 and a few hoses, mean that cold beer is available for as long as the keg and CO2 are full. And a kegerator can keep beer fresh for much longer than just a standard keg.

Converting an old fridge into a kegerator is pretty simple and straight forward. It requires nothing more than an old fridge, it can even be a bottom of the line fridge from a garage sale so long as it still works, and a few accessories.

It can be a bit hard to convert a fridge to a kegerator without the proper accessories and instructions. So buying a kegerator conversion kit is always recommended. Of course, if this is too much, kegerators can always be found for sale. Whether it is a yard sale or a popular auction site, it is never hard to find a good kegerator for a reasonable price.

And if you do decide to buy a kegerator or convert your own fridge into one, it is not only a great piece of hardware for a party, but it can be a great centerpiece as well. If you are throwing a huge Superbowl party for your favorite team, you can decorate your kegerator to match. Whether it is team colors and logos or a special message for a friend who has come back to town, kegerators are always fun to have at a party.

So dig that old fridge out of the garage or head to a junk sale and find a beat up old fridge to give to life to. With a few modifications, the old fridge can go from a throw out to a stand out. Keep your parties going with a plentiful supply of cold beer on tap and you are sure to get people coming back again and again.
