   Does anyone still use a landline home phone?,
   
   and why would you not cancel with the prevalence of cell-phones?

   We live in a stone house and the reception for the cell is sometimes not as reliable so I opted for the land line. However, IF we didn't have a home business, I would not have even considered it.
   
   Funny story, years ago, I was in utility billing and reviewed the many options and studied radio meter reading verses telephone meter reading. I convinced our Public Works Director to go with radio. I predicted someday households would not have land lines. At the time, the main concern was the phone charge on the customer's account. Ironically when I went out in the field for the first radio installation the service technician was ready to kiss me because the radio installation was so simple. The world of wireless has streamlined so many operations and made the world a closer place. Thank goodness for reading water meters via radio.

   Yeah, we do,,but only as a fax line,,other than that only for incoming calls from local numbers,,never use it to dial out. Cell phones are the only way to go now days, if wasn't for the fax,,I wouldn't need it. I'm sure that others are in the same boat,,email can only do so much for business people..who have home offices.

   We still have a land-line home phone for two reasons. One, our cell phone service seems to come and go in certain parts of the house. The second reason is my husband has two monitors which transmit information to health care centers due to his chronic illnesses. The first monitor transmits information on his bi-ventricular pacemaker. The second monitor is used to send in blood pressure and weight readings daily.

   I still use a landline phone as my main phone.  I believe all landline phones sound better than cell phones.  I hate how unreliable a cell phone's reception can be.  Also, I do not like being "on call" all day long.  I have a pay-as-you-go cell phone for emergency purposes only.  I use my landline for all my real calls.  If I am out somewhere and a person cannot get a hold of me, so be it.  I don't want people annoying me with calls everywhere I go.  When I am home, I have the free time to talk.  Otherwise, leave me a message and then I can call back.

   I have a land line for my business and a cell-phone for both. Where I live (in the middle of nowhere) my cell phone rarely works when I need to call someone from home.

   Landline calls are usually cheaper.
   A landline doesn't require power from the normal house power and in the event of a powercut you can still make calls. A cell phone could run out of battery power and in the event of an emergency, you wouldn't be able to make a call and might lose vital seconds finding a phone to cal 911.
   Landline phones use simpler electronics. Also your nearest cell phone mast could go out of operation making the cell phone useless. So it's probably better to have the landline as a backup.
