We live in a rural neighborhood, so we're always looking out for each other. If the sheep get out, I get them back in again. If I notice there's a water leak in one of the summer homes I'll call the bailiff or the water company to get it fixed.
One of my closest neighbors had a wife run out on him, so I keep a cheery face and let him know he's cool still (it's not a 21st century sort of neighborhood, so a man's pride is a very important thing). He appreciates that and comes to cut the grass with the tractor.
I buy fresh sausages when they're made to let everyone know how great they are and when it's olive picking season I invite people in to get warm and offer them some apple fritters.
They do so much more for me. My life here without their caring would be bland and empty. I love them so much. Yet it's nothing to talk about. We just care for each other without words.
