Yes, I grow a garden, and have grown a variety of crops in Northern Utah using many different methods.  The method you choose and the space you have will determine what you can grow.  I've had fair to great success with peppers and various herbs in containers.  The trick with containers is to ensure regular watering.   Tomatoes do marginally well in containers if properly cared for, but do better in a full sized garden.  Pumpkins and corn require a lot of room but do quite well here in Northern Utah.  Peas, Lettuce, and Spinach do so well you can often get two crops (see my hub http://neildabb.hubpages.com/hub/SecondCrop on second crop vegetables) and can be planted in smaller areas (like flower beds).  Potatoes do well in sandy soil...  The list of possibilities is nearly endless.

Well my tomatoes are currently in a container and not doing so hot so we will be planting them in our garden. I do have peppers galore though. Thank you for the tips and I will be checking out you hub.

In Georgia we can grow vegetables all year long. In fall and winter we grow cole crops such as greens, lettuce, turnips and broccoli. In summer we grow squash, tomatoes, watermelon, peas, beans, eggplant, onions and potatoes. I just pulled up my last turnips and cooked them yesterday. My onions and potatoes are doing great. I love growing my own food. It is so satisfying.

Growing your own food is so rewarding for all the effort you put forth. Keep up the good work sounds like your freezer and pantry don't ever go empty LOL Thanks for the answer.

The herb garden is out back with oregano and lavender doing the best. Don't have to do much of anything to them and they are beautiful. The others I need a close eye on. My husband has his own vegetable garden that I do not touch because I don't want to curse it. But his tomatoes always look fantastic.

I grow some tomatoes every year (they always turn into monster sized plants), cucumbers for making pickles, peppers, some herbs, garlic, zucchini and I have 4 permanent fruit bearing plants too (a orange tree, lemon tree, a grape vine and a raspberry bush)
