What is the best value for an outdoor compact beverage refrigerator?
I'm looking to find a recommendation on a compact refrigerator that is rated for outdoor use that will hold mainly beer and wine. What model offers the best value? I'm looking for one that is stainless steel, and slides into a space under a patio counter.
I just did a little search around and found a place called Woodland Direct. They advertise free shipping on orders of $99 and up.
They offer a Bull Outdoor Stainless Steel Refrigerator. Comes equipped with a beverage can dispenser that holds up to 5 cans. It's 4.5 cubit feet.
I'm not sure it's the right idea for wine. I do know they sell just wine fridges.
Sears had some recently.
This particular one by Woodland is made for outdoors, but must be vented.
It's not made for cold winters though. It costs around $300, which is the least expensive I found doing a quick search.
Is Bull a reputable manufacturer. The reviews were a little concerning.
I'm not sure. My husband is in plumbing. I was hoping to recognize a name that he deals with in his kitchen remodels, but I didn't see a one.
We build custom outdoor kitchens in South Florida and have worked very closely with Bull many times, and for long periods of time. The ref is fine but is Not UL Listed for outdoors. Use outdoors is wholly contingent on the structure it is built into
Grillrepair I think it's going to be a Perlick, but that's certainly not the least expensive, but I'm told it will last the longest. What do you think? Outdoor refrigerators are pricey.
For outdoors the least expensive that is truly listed for outdoors is by Summit. This unit is not all stainless steel but is reliable and has a warranty for outdoor use.
Most of our outdoor clients use a cheap indoor refrigerator because replacing them every few years is simple at $150 apiece. Outdoor rated refrigerators by Marvell and Alfresco and True that are among the best compact outdoor appliances can cost as much as $4000. However, ULine brand refrigerators start closer to $1700. with a 5 year UL Listed warranty outdoors.
I sell a lot (!!) of refrigerators outdoors and 95% of the time the client does not see that value when cheap refrigerators will last a few years. The same is true of televisions. We have had a flat screen outdoors for 3 years now without trouble. Had I purchased a UL Listed for outdoor TV it would have been over $8K and only has a 1 year warranty!
Check your use because it is often not worth the expense. This is why companies like Bull and Firemagic take inexpensive refrigerators, brand them, and sell them with their outdoor line. Once you read the manual you'll see they are not made for outdoors unless built into an outdoor kitchen that removes exposure and humidity (as if that were possible) but anything similar in price has such a short warranty they are not worth the expense.
At approximately $1700. ULine's outdoor models (and check because they have non-outdoor models that are not called "non-outdoor models") have 5 years and this is similar for the higher-end companies.
I live in the north and was completely confused on Bull's ad that they have to be unplugged and brought in for the winter! LOL Now I see why. What a great explanation Grill!

We just recently had an almost fatal fire in our Forrest RiverWilcat camper. The Norcold Refrigerator caught on fire in our camper and completely burned the camper to the frame. I shutter to think if we had been in it. Our neighbors awakened us at 1:00 a.m. when they heard the loud...

Do you let your cat outdoors? We have three cats, six months and younger. Although they are predominately indoor cats, we've been taking them outdoors daily for fresh air and sunshine. Also, we hope they get familiar with the surroundings in case they 'escape' outside. Any thoughts...
