   What 5 things will you pack, if you have only 5 minutes to leave your home?
   
   I had faced this situation, when there was an earthquake in Gujarat in 2001. I took some cash, bank cheque book, medicines pouch, mobile phone, biscuits.

   I have never faced a situation like this, thankfully. However if I were, I would grab my purse, my cats (in their carrier), my phone, food (whatever I can grab first), and a change of clothes if I have time.

   We have "boogie bags" that are prepacked and ready to go for the four members of our family.   Each has food, water and water purification tablets, clothing change, emergency blanket, first aid kit, fire starting kit, heat tabs, and rain gear.  Each bag also has parts of a tent, a roll of quarters, a flash light, and a d-ring. The adult bags have a handgun with ammunition, a small survival axe, a pocket knife, 550 cord, walkie talkies, windup flash light and am/ fm radio, batteries, chem lights, and water proof compression bags.

   Credit and bank cards, phone, bread, milk and a good book.
   
   I already have some decent clothes on? Then I'll buy new ones - I want out of the house fast if an earthquakes happening!

      Yes, the horrible memories are still fresh in my mind. My kids were at school at that time and we literally ran from home to reach there. The earthquake destroyed many lives and property.

      You are right, cash is most important. But first of all we want to save our lives. Many families just managed to carry their small kids and elderly parents and nothing else. People were forced to live in tents for several days!

   I'd grab my wallet, checkbook, eyeglasses, and car keys. It would probably take me the remaining 4 1/2 minutes to find my cat and get him in his carrier. I'm not going to leave him behind if there's a chance my house is going to get destroyed.

      Yes, we had also taken the car keys, since we had to rush to fetch our kids from school. Pets in fact give you some kind of indication as well that something terrible is about to happen.

       Yes it was scary and the fear continued for many days. Actually its very difficult to choose, what to take along in such natural calamities. And Earthquakes happen without any warning. First and foremost you want to save lives of people around you.
