   I live in a circle. I know most of the people that live in my circle. Around the block, I know a few people. I don't know most of them.

      Thats how it was when I was growing up as a child but as I got older things stop but people know me because of my restaurant but that is not the same

   I live in a quadplex. I know everyone in the quadplex, but out of this yard I know none of them and don't have any plans to get to know them.

   I live in a rural area and can't see any of my neighbor's houses from mine.  I do know one by name, only because he came over and introduced himself when his family moved in the the home.  I have lived in a city setting, and everything I needed I could walk to, and that was cool.  I have lived in a neighborhood where everyone knew everyone, and I did not like that much.  I guess I prefer rural or city.

      I live in a rural area so I can understand what you are saying we see most of our neighbors when we have street cleaning everyone come out to do there part.

   None. They know our name only because they asked our landlord who we are. We work nights, sleep days, and travel on our days off quite a bit. Sometimes I don't think they know if we still live here.

   I know the name of the neighbors immediately on each side of me & across from me. I wave & speak to all of my neighbors but don't necessarily know their names.

   None of them. It's normal in parts of California. People lead busy lives and are very selective about who they know or associate with. Respect must be first. If there is no respect, there is no point in knowing them. It's typical for neighbors to ignore each other and move out without saying a word.

      I have spent plenty of time in Cali and have never witness that I even stayed there for 6 months and did not witness any thing about what your saying.

   I know two by name, the rest by sight. We live in a small town, so most people are used to seclusion but also keep an eye out for the entire area. Everyone knows everyone's face, car, and dog(s) -- just not too many names

    I know most of my neighbors when I see them, but the only ones I know by name are the one on each side and the one across the street. The one next door I knew since I was a kid because he helped with my brothers football team although I only became his neighbor about 10 years ago. The neighbors on the other side, I remember their first names, but not their last. And the people across the street I remember their last name, but only remember the sons first name - I think this is because the couple is older and I always called the Mr and Mrs and their last name.

    i know all of them and seen all of them but still we never visit each other or have each others numbers or anything so i guess it's pretty pointless to know their all of their names and looks when u never have the chance to communicate
    it's a sucky neighborhood btw xD

    I know the neighbors names who borders where I live. Of course those are who I have constant interactions with, so I use their names. Even though there have been introductions with others it is usually a wave of the hand.

    We know the neighbors across the street and up to 3 houses up and down on both sides w/ a few further spread out that like to chat when walking the dog.
