Swimming Pool Chlorine

Swimming Pool Chlorine

Having a swimming pool is, in some aspects, similar to having a car: if a you have a high-end you need to do a careful maintenance. Among the many precautions that you must have with your swimming pool, the one that you should give particular attention is to chlorine.

It is this chemical that keeps the water healthy, to eliminate bacteria, algae and other microorganisms that enhance disease still common in this environment, such as ringworm, athlete's foot and more often, varied inflammations in the eyes, nose and ears.

For the properties it has, chlorine eliminates these threats in an extremely effective way and without presenting any danger to health, provided, of course, used properly and in proper proportions.

Therefore, you should always bear in mind the volume of water in your pool, it will be from that value which you will calculate the required chlorine doses. One peculiarity is that chlorine becomes inactive when it comes into contact with substances that eliminates: in other words, "works only once". For this reason, it fades with time, and therefore this is an operation that you will have to perform regularly. As such, we recommend that you purchase a meter for chlorine levels, you can find one in any store of swimming pool equipment to make sure it is always within the desirable values.

Chlorine is not only for sale in stores specialized in products and pool maintenance, but also in some other establishments of entertainment and sports accessories. The options available are tablets and granular powder, both equally effective, but perhaps more convenient to use tablets.

If this is your choice, you should not put the tablet into the pool and expect it to dissolve. Not that this does not happen, but the distribution of chlorine will take place in an incorrect manner, eventually concentrate in the water that surrounds the tablet, not spreading to the entire pool. Additionally, this water with high chlorine concentration is likely to damage the filters and may also fade the color of the pool which was in contact with (or in the case of a vinyl swimming pool, you can even come to weaken the material ).

So the best way to implement them is through a floating container distribution - some brands have even the supply - which will be determined a correctly release of chlorine.

If you choose the granular chlorine form, you should take the same caution: never throw the entire dose at once, but rather distribute it across the swimming pool. Ideally, is to dissolve the granules in a bucket with water from the pool itself and dropping it after in a way that it get more disperse.

The best time to do this treatment is at night, or alternatively in the evenings, when it is not used again. Chlorine loses effectiveness at high temperatures, and as such will be more appropriate to let him operate throughout the night, so that the pool is already adequately addressed the following morning. This ensures that also fulfills a certain period of rest.

Accomplished this task, it remains just frequently check chlorine levels and repeat it when necessary. Does not require much work, and will ensure the water quality, protecting your health and of all who use the pool.

In one minute:

  • Use with frequency a chlorine level meter
  • Apply the chlorine at evening
  • Use the specified amount of chlorine to the volume of your pool
  • If you use tablets, use a floating dispenser
  • If using granules, mix it in a bucket with water from the pool itself
  • Good diving!

Adding chlorine at night can help you save money, as the chlorine has a chance to work and you will not have to chlorinate the pool quite so often. Being sure that you use the correct amount of chlorine is important, as chlorine is a major factor in fighting pollutants in the pool. Very informative hub!
