Choose the right type of coffee table for your room
Coffee tables come in all shapes and sizes these days. Those low to the ground tables that sit in front of your most comfortable sofa have evolved over the years to provide the most aesthetically pleasing and functional designs imaginable. But with all of those coffee table designs to choose from how do you know which one is the right one for your particular room? If you choose the wrong type of coffee table it can completely throw off the décor and you’ll be sorely disappointed.
Here are a few examples of the types of coffee tables you can find out on the market today and some hints on what kind of rooms they might fit in with.
Glass Coffee Table
The glass coffee table can become anything you can dream of. All it takes is adding a pane of thick glass to a base that can sustain its weight and keep it stable. For this reason the glass coffee table is one of the most versatile pieces of furniture you can find. You can really fit them into any room as long as the base looks good but there are a few types of decors that don’t really work.
Glass begs for refinement and elegance. You shouldn’t try putting a glass coffee table in a room that is full of wood and wood colors unless the base of the coffee table overwhelms the look of the glass pane. Rustic and nautical themed rooms don’t fit well with glass coffee tables but almost every other type of décor does.
Lift-Top Coffee Table
The lift-top design is the most functional of all coffee table designs. As the name implies you can lift up the top of this coffee table and move it around to suit your needs. Let’s say you’re watching television with the kids and you don’t want to spoil your favorite show by having to eat at the dinner table, well the lift-top coffee table design allows you to lift the table right up onto your lap. You can use it for working on a laptop too. Basically the lift-top design allows you to fully utilize the table space without having to bend down and hurt your back.
Put lift-top coffee tables into rooms that require you to fully utilize the space. Television rooms, game rooms, offices, stuff like that. You don’t want to put them in rooms that won’t require you to use the lift-top utility. Keep them away from reading rooms.
Modern Coffee Table
The modern coffee table is for the avant-garde home decorator. These coffee tables range in style and look that it is difficult to say what you’re going to get when you pick one. They usually are not the most practical of tables but if you find one just right you’ll be able to really accentuate the look and feel of your room. I usually like to save these kinds of coffee tables for my bedrooms. I’ll put a nice modern coffee table at the foot of my bed just for looks.
Wooden Coffee Table
The wooden coffee table is the old fashioned coffee table. They aren’t frilly and they don’t have much to them as far as design goes but they are the original functional table and they look great in almost every room. If you’re looking to keep it simple, go with the basic foundation of all coffee tables: the wooden coffee table.
Pick the right kind of Coffee Table
Those are just a few types of coffee tables on the market today. There are so many different kinds these days that it would take an entire dissertation to spell them all out. I hope this guide has been helpful for you in your quest to find the best coffee table for your room.
