Why Viking Gas Ranges are the Best

Updated on February 8, 2019

Cooking with Gas is Just Better and Viking Ranges are Best!

This simple looking stove to the left is the best brand gas range on the market!

The quality with which it is built assures you will have this range for the rest of your life and can pass it on to a child that loves to cook. For this is a range for someone who truly loves to cook.

The control that you have over each burner is astounding - giving the flexibility that is needed to cook the most delicate of sauces to the heavy heat required for candy making. The stove was designed to provide you a professional chef's tool but in the home environment. That means that you do not have the heat leaking out around the edges of the oven and other safety factors we take for granted with a home appliance. For example, when you bake in a hot oven, the heat stays in the oven.

There is enough space on the stove to be able to use all of the burners. Now you might not need that all of the time, but for those large parties and especially for Thanksgiving meals, you are able use all the burners at the same time.

Settle In with Your Viking

When I bought my Viking range, the company was young - in fact, my range was bought early during Viking's first year of being available. I could not find anyone who had one or even knew of the Viking ranges, but I did so love the way it was built and the way it felt! We looked for a long time, it seemed, but this was the right one.

We did decide to buy it - had it delivered and installed. It took more than six weeks to have that done as the hood was made to order in those days and the range was shipped in from another state. My range was wonderful. When I stood in front of it, I felt as if I could cook anything!

Think about cooking Thanksgiving dinners where you bake six pies at the same time. Picture a 26 pound turkey with stuffing baking with casseroles of candied sweet potatoes, green beans and everything else you bake for Thanksgiving all in the oven at the same time. Put in two large cookie sheets of home-made rolls so there are more than enough hot rolls and you are not jumping up from the table to get the next batch of rolls from the oven. It is heaven to be able to handle all of your cooking needs in a simple and beautiful manner.

The meals that have rolled off of it during the years have been marvelous. Nothing else has given me the same results or pleasure. I have had other gas ranges even in the same heavy duty class, and they are all excellent ranges; but I would choose my Viking range over all of them any day. The Prime Rib is just better coming out of a Viking oven!

See the pot on the stove? Well, that is one of the benefits you have with a stove that is built like a tank. You can have, as I often had, a stock pot that just stays on the stove top keeping your stock fresh and ready for your every desire. You can use it for soups and gravies, for basting and cooking your veggies in; giving all of your dishes that extra flavor and homemade goodness.

The upper shelf, which is optional to buy but a dream to use, is a great place for letting your homemade bread rise. The scent will drive everyone in your home crazy - in a good way!

Lots of kitchens are still basically white and although this Viking is white, I can assure you that there is nothing boring about this piece of equipment. We actual considered our Viking part of the family. When we sold that home that was the Viking's first home, we moved it will us and every move since then. It is heavy and although it is now considered old, it is as good as the first day. I think perhaps it is better as I know every nook and cranny of this great range.

Viking Kitchen

As the Viking name grew, representing quality and integrity, the company expanded the line to include everything in the kitchen, except for indoor cabinets. They now build all the major appliances as well as the hand operated ones like mixers and carving knifes. They even offer a cooking school as well.

Not bad for a 'new little' company in Mississippi. Their history is truly amazing. Starting from the desire for a commercial like range for their kitchen, Fred Carl and his wife, created an international company that produces top quality home appliances with commercial grade standards. And no, I do not work for the company or have any affiliation with them directly. I just love my Viking range and know that any cook would love one as well!!

What if You Want Color?

With about a dozen colors available, you can mix or match as you wish. The colors are varied and absolutely beautiful. So pick you color scheme and go with it!

But cooking is more than about the color of the range you cook on - it is about how it preforms. I can tell you from personal experience of cooking on Viking, Wolf, GE Professional series as well as several other expensive home gas ranges, that there is nothing that out preforms the Viking line. The precision that the stove provides whether you are cooking on top of the range, baking or broiling, it is amazing. It is a professional grade range that was redesigned to fit in the home.

Your Opinion, Please

Love the sheer size of the ovens available with Viking ovens. Viking makes ranges for 30 inches to 60 inches. Design your kitchen around one of these beauties and you will never be sorry.

If you want to go hog-wild with the Viking idea of cooking, you have to try the outdoor Viking kitchen equipment. Be of good mind and know that this is not inexpensive appliances but they will, in fact, last a life time. There is nothing built like the Viking line.

When I was doing research to write about Viking on Luxury Kitchens, I was surprised to find that they now make outside appliances for your patio. Now that is a kick - to be able to cook on a Viking grill outdoors! Again, the quality is evident through the cooking experience. As with so many cooks, control of the cooking temperature is one of the more important aspect of cooking. Without it, your foods are a hit or miss type of situation. I love the flavor that you get from cooking over a charcoal grill - but add a smoker to the Viking grill and you have the best of both worlds.
