High Gas Price Records
US National news reports that gas prices broke record highs for the third day in a row on May 15, 2007. The national average price of gas in the USA is about $3.09.
Fuel prices have not been this high since Hurricane Katrina disrupted oil refinery operations in early September, 2005. This caused a temporary gas price spike. Current gasoline prices are being blamed on maintenance, fires, and power outages.
Currently, California has the highest gas price average, about $3.48 a gallon for unleaded self-serve gasoline. South Carolina has the lowest price per gallon for self-serve unleaded gasoline, averaging $2.84 a gallon of gas.
