Mesothelioma Awareness

November is the time to think about lung cancers including mesothelioma (cancer caused by the exposure of asbestos). November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Mesothelioma is one of the rarest forms of lung cancers. There are between 2000 and 3000 cases of mesothelioma each year. Approxiamently 2/3 of mesothelioma cases are mesothelioma of the lungs. Many scientists believe that mesothelioma is caused by the inhalation (and, to a lesser extent, digestion) of asbestos fibers. Many people who have or currently work in ship yards, manufacturing plants and chemical factories have been diagnosed the most over the years. Unfortunately, treatment of mesothelioma doesn't occur until advanced stages of the disease or showing. Symptoms of mesothelioma usually occur between 20 to 50 years after the asbestos exposure, and often it is to late to prescribe sufficient treatment. If you or someone you know has EVER been exposed to asbestos, you should seek the advise of consulation of a medical professional.
