Moments with Inspiring Movie Flashes and Poetry Part 1
Living in a world of duality, where we experience joy and sorrow; day and night, life sometimes brings us experiences that may be challenging, such as the sudden loss of a loved one, a job loss, or an act of nature, or it may bring us unexpected opportunities, the meeting of our soulmate, the joy of the birth of a baby, the financial windfall, a career opportunity, and our lives may change forever; but in essence we create the quality of our life by our focus and how we perceive life.
I find that when I want to feel a deeper connection to the God in me or be inspired, being around nature, art, music, poetry, or movie flashes can shift my energy. Connecting with positive, caring people who have the passion to do what they love, also helps!
I have gathered a few poetry flashes and a poem I wrote as part of a series of inspirational poetry and quote hubs I plan to write with my personal thoughts. Good for those days, when we may want to divert our attention from the daily events of our planet and feel a touch of silence of the mind. In the ocean of life with its ebb and flow, the human spirit is capable of much beauty as the flashes and poetry being shared here so aptly portrays. The Invitation, is one of my favorite modern day poems. The poet expresses what I truly value in myself and others, that which is inside each one of us, the core of our being.

The Invitation - Movie Flash
It doesn't interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for
and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.
It doesn't interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool
for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon...
I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow
if you have been opened by life's betrayals
or have become shrivelled and closed
from fear of further pain.
The two poetry flashes that follow were written and created by partner Phil. He has a passion for truth and the study of human nature.
A hubber recently asked "How would you prefer to be paid for your work? Would you prefer cash or happiness? I gave my answer (happiness) I also thought of Phil who has already been faced with this choice. He has chosen happiness over cash several times in his life. His latest choice was closing his successful remodeling business three years ago in order to go on a temporary "spiritual retreat" and focus on truth and writing, two things that gives him fulfilment. When there were concerns he may need to go back to working outside of the house to earn income again, as he is living off his investments, a business fell into our laps, so we both get to work from home and doing what we enjoy.
Grace - Poetry Movie Flash
Grace is the blossoming of beauty
In most unexpected ways.
A flower in the desert.
The sunlit glint of the dewdrop.
The liquid peace
Of the crashing ocean waves.
Grace is the touch of the beloved
That melts the heart.
The touch of God
That frees the soul at last
From it's long, dark night.
Truth- Poetry Movie Flash
Truth is that which makes you angry.....
Just before it sets you free.
Truth is that which shatters your dreams
And fills you with wonders
That you could never have dreamed.
Truth is that which calls you a liar to your face,
Robs you of everything you think you know,
And replaces it with knowing.
When I want to ponder or escape, I often go to the beach to be near the ocean during the summer and have been doing this for years. When I worked in Midtown, Manhattan in NY, when the weather and time permitted, I would often head at lunch time to visit Central Park and sit by a lake or a nearby building with waterfalls. The ocean or being near water usually has a very soothing effect on me. Water to me, is a gift.
I wrote The "Ocean's Gift" many years ago, when I was experiencing a swirl of emotions, ups and downs that were part of my growing process. Even if everything happens for a reason, and forms our character, I am very glad those angst ridden days are over!
" The Ocean's Gift"
When life casts its gray shadows on me
and the tests seem too much to take-
When my heart has been broken once again
and my dreams have faded into nothingness-
the white sand of the beach is where I go.
Running past sand castles
and the hidden treasures
the sand may hold
Running past lovers basking
in the warmth of the eternal sun
I reach for the cool embrace
of the ocean's waves.
Together we dance to
the ebb and flow of the tide of life
and together, we stand unafraid.
In the silence of the distance
the ocean's strength speaks to me
enveloping my soul with the gift
of peace it came to find.
I leave you with a Rumi quote: " When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy."
Thank you for joining me in this dance of words and visual inspiration.
