No TV For Five Days: Day 3
August 6, 2008: Day 3
The withdrawal symptoms are kind of silly now. I find myself wanting to watch TV shows that didn't interest me before: The Hills (who the heck is Lauren Conrad anyway?), and old DVD episodes of Alias (I always liked Jennifer Garner but never watched the show). I start thinking of Ann Curry and wonder what the folks on the Today show are up to today. Come to think of it, I am actually curious about who Regis and Kelly are interviewing today. Arrrgghhhh!!!
I realize more and more that with the invention of the TiVo, people like myself have actually been watching more television because we have the choice to do it at our own leisure. In the "old" days, one would have to rush home to catch their favorite show, and if they miss it, too bad. Some shows that are on certain days and times of the week are just impossible to catch when you've got your life going on. Now you can download the episode online, record it on your TiVo or VCR, and even watch the streaming video on the network's website whenever you'd like. My husband and I would spend hours each evening and on weekends watching marathons of our shows recorded on the TiVo. Why, aren't we saving time since we can fast-forward through all the commercials? Haha...
Well, sadly, Day 3 TV-Free did not go as well as I would have liked, although that is up for argument.
Day 3, this is what happened:
- Sat down for a wonderful dinner my husband cooked
- Completed 1 thing on my To-Do list
- Fell asleep in bed at 8:00PM.
Oops. No blogging, no pushups, no chores. Didn't even get to spend quality time with the dogs. BUT, getting a lot of sleep was just oh-so-lovely!
We'll see how tomorrow goes...
