Passage : John 17: 19
"And for this sake, I sanctify myself that they also might be sanctified
through the truth. "
What is "true love" ? Have we already experienced it ? The passage above tells something about it. It is all about the kind of love Jesus has.
Jesus loves us so much that he desires us to be holy. He made a tremendous sacrifice to sanctify himself in order for us to be sanctified. Throughout his entire life of thirty three years he lived a perfect holy life. He has overcome great trials and temptations to preserve his holiness. He was able to endure all these things because of his great love for us. For he desires us to be completely sanctified. His love indeed is perfect and admirable. His love is pure and the one that is true for it desires the purity of the beloved. It is indeed far beyond compare.
In loving others, it maybe our parents, our children, our sister or brother , our wives or husbands or even our friends, we must imitate the purity of Jesus love. We should also desire the sanctification of our loved ones and beloved friends. We should also be willing to make great sacrifices to purify our lives to guide them. We should never drive them to commit sinful actions. We should never be a stumbling block to them.
It can also be applied well in a man and woman love relationship prior marriage. Each man or woman must also sincerely desire the sanctification of his/her fiancée.True love is pure, They should refrain from doing any premarital sexual actions. They must be willing to preserve the purity, honor and dignity of their fiancée.There must not even a hint of immorality among them. For true love is sacrificial love which above all desires the sanctification of the beloved.
