Today's Southern Gospel Music
Today's Southern Gospel Music - Not Your Daddy's Old Time Music
Today's Southern Gospel Music does not sound like the Southern Gospel Music of twenty years ago. Today's Southern Gospel music has a new edge. Gone are the twangy vocals, the matching lime green suits, the beehive hairdos. In their place you will find a style of music that still emphasizes vocals and harmonies, but with a quality that was almost unattainable twenty years ago.
Today groups like Austins Bridge, The McRaes, Ernie Haase and Signature Sound are reaching a new audience while still making music that appeals to the older generation.
The Bill Gaither Homecoming series has sold more CD's, DVD's and Videos then almost any other Christian group. They consistently fill large arenas throughout the country.
One of the groups that has stood the test of time is Karen Peck and New River. Karen has been singing for almost twenty years. Her style has changed over the years but the quality of her work has not. This past year she was nominated for both Grammy and Dove awards for her "Journey of Joy" CD.
The sound of Southern Gospel music has changed but the lyrics have not. The lyrics of Southern Gospel present Gospel truths in plain, simple and effective ways. When you listen to Southern Gospel music there is no doubt Who they are singing about - Jesus Christ.
