I am a military mom. 3 of my children joined the Marines, 2 went to Iraq, one is in Afghanistan.
It is a challenge to let go of a child in the first place and then to know that your child is joining an operation that may cause them premature harm or worse all you can do is worry about the unknown.
I have the unique perspective of having been in the Marines myself but those who have no previous military knowledge have a harder time understanding.
We are all patriotic and want to do our part to make things better. Especially now, with the threat of terrorist attacks higher than any other time in our History you feel the need to be strong for your children but at the same time worry about their safety.
It is a frightening thing to know your children are offering up their valuable lives to ensure that the rest of us are safe.
