In all of my-younger-travels, California has been the state most comforting to me. I was born in Los Angeles in the mid-50's, moved to Colorado, spent some years in Missouri, and received my Bachelor's Degree in Alabama.
But in all of these journeys I always felt that California was home. Today I live in a small town in the Eastern Sierras where I am able to climb to 8,000 feet in a matter of minutes. Lakes and rivers abound. The ocean is a mere 8 hours from my home, and well worth the drive-the countryside is unique and changes often.
Now as a middle aged woman, I am fairly sure I am here to stay.
