Tips for Getting Rid of Bad Credit

  1. You need to pay all your bills on time every time.  If you don't pay your bills on time, not only will suffer a fee which makes your bill cost more but it also puts a bad mark on your credit rating.  Those bad scores will add up and before you know it, you can't get the loan you need to get a car.

  2. Don't get an excessive amount of credit cards.  When you have credit cards, you can be tempted to make purchases you can't afford.  Keep one or two cards for emergenices and pay for most of your purchases with cash.  While some people say to get rid of your credit cards completely, that actually works against you when you want to get good credit because lenders look at how much debt you have in relation to much credit you have.  For example, if your credit cards are maxed out, that is bad, whereas if you have credit cards with no balance, its good.
  3. Avoid bankruptcies at all costs.  If you want to repair your credit, not getting a bankruptcy is imperative for that.  Bankruptcies will stay on your credit report for 10 years and can haunt you for a very long time.
  4. Avoid having large amounts of available credit.  If you have a few credit cards, request to have their maximum balance lowered.  Not only will it help you from making purchases that can get you into debt, but it will also make lenders more comfortable with giving you money.
