Frugal Living Tip: Always Have Eggs
Everybody is living on a budget these days but that doesn't necessarily mean that you can't eat well. One of the best ways to stretch your dollar is to always have eggs in your refrigerator. With a dozen eggs you will always have a meal ready for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. And they are so affordable.
You can make so many things with eggs. For breakfast you can have them scrambled, sunny-side, poached or fried. If you've got bread on hand, you can make french toast. If you have some flour, baking soda, baking powder and milk then fluffy pancakes are the way to go.
For lunch you can make egg-in-the-hole toast or an egg sandwich. Cook some hard-boiled eggs and you can have a snack. Pickle some hard-boiled eggs and you can enjoy them for a rainy day. With some mayo and mustard you can make an egg salad sandwich. If you want to be fancy, make deviled eggs. For dinner, with whatever veggies and spices you have on hand create an omelette, if you only have cheese, a cheese omelet is very tasty. For a simple and elegant repast, have herbed-baked eggs. Want a savory snack, what about egg-drop soup? Making it would be quick and easy. If you want something more filling, add noodles and a whole mess of vegetable and you can enjoy a big noodle in egg-drop soup. For dessert, how about some crepes with a strawberry jam filling? Delicious and so inexpensive.
If you want to try a little something out of your comfort zone, consider making fried rice using scrambled eggs and some vegetables you have in hand. If you have potatoes, make a skillet dinner.
In addition to eggs being so affordable, they are nutritious. Its compact size hold so much protein. Eggs also has other nutrients that contribute to your physical health.
If you're not eating eggs, what else can you do with them? You can use them for beauty treatments of course. Eggs make a great moisturizing treatment or hair conditioner. Once you have the ingredients you can make as many beauty applications and it would still cost you far less than a fancy department store.
Egg Yolk Facial
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon sweet almond oil
- 1 teaspoon coconut milk powder
- A couple of drops of geranium essential oil
Mix the ingredients and apply to your face. Leave for ten minutes. Rinse.
Shine and Bounce Boost for your Hair
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- a tablespoon of honey
- two drops of rosemary essential oil
Massage into the scalp and hair, then wash, wrap in a towel and leave for at least 15 minutes, washing afterwards in lukewarm water and a gentle shampoo
