Get Smart and Learn How To Attract More Money in 2009

Would you like to attract more money into your life?  If you answered yes, then the first thing you will need to think about is getting beyond three common beliefs that tend to stop us from attracting money into our lives.

Three Common Beliefs

The first belief is "it's too hard" - to look at that belief that "it's too hard" oftentimes is so ingrained in us that it becomes second nature to believe that when something comes up for us even if we have a goal that pops into our mind intuitively or in a form of a dream or even something that inspires us, it seems almost immediately that to us it seems impossible and therefore we label it as being "too hard" and so we tend to back away from it.

Have you ever been at a place and feel as though you have hit a wall in your life and there is some obstacle you feel you cannot get beyond. Just for a moment, think back on your story and how it got to that point and how many times in the past have you found ways to get beyond things that were deemed too hard. Whether it was out of a sense of survival or because you were just tired of the situation or bored or whatever it was but the thing is, it really is crucial to remember when we get into a place where we feel stuck, we tend to focus on the feeling of being stuck. One of the easiest ways to help get yourself unstuck is to go back in your mind, just take a break from obsessing about being stuck and go back in and look at the successes that you have created for yourself. Oftentimes we tend to forget the amazing things we have actually achieved in our lives because one, we've gotten beyond it and sometimes past it and doesn't seem as relevant to us anymore but a simple thing to do is to leave the focus off of "it's too hard" for a little while, and look at your past for any evidence showing that you have actually achieved things that you didn't believe in the past were possible. In fact, if you look back at somethings that didn't seem to be that big of a deal to actually achieve for you but other people would have had an incredibly hard time.

So again, it's getting in touch with your skills, your brilliance or your creativity to get beyond that belief that "it's too hard".

Oftentimes, we have so much knowledge, we've been taught so much of the Law of Attraction especially within the last few years. People still don't know how to use the Law of Attraction and feel as though "it's too hard". Granted that belief is also filled with the belief it's not possible or not believing that it's possible but a lot of times what we tend to do is over analyze how it is that we can bring things in our lives. The other thing that is suggested to do is to just simplify things.

It's difficult to do that if you have an emotional attachment to something or if you are in a place where your life feels like its turned completely upside down and things are caotic. It's hard to unplug from that and look at this rationally but these are the times when you have to pull yourself out of it. Pull your mind out of it and keep things simple enough to not make it hard on yourselves.

It's Too Hard!
It's Too Hard!

How to get beyond the belief that "it's too hard"

It's not that it's too hard it's just that it is different. Performing surgery is easy if you know how. If you are not in that situation then you don't know how easy it is. Some people just have the knack. You've heard the saying "whatever he touches turns to gold" and to them it really is easy so it's looking at those people and finding out what it is they're doing and modeling them. I'm not saying you need to make money the same way as others but with the ease in which they do it and you need to develop that ease. Like it's been's easy if you know how! So this is not something hard, it is just something different that you're not used to yet.

The second belief is "I'm not deserving" - if you look back a year on your life you know that just because you had something in 2008 doesn't mean you will have or have to have it in 2009. So if you felt you were not deserving last year, well this year you are deserving. Just because you were feeling that way one minute doesn't mean you must feel that way the next. Start right now and change that belief.

To think you are not deserving is a very very painful thing so do your best to look at this view from another perspective. In light of a deserving view say...wait a minute, ya know, I may not believe that I'm deserving but I do believe that I was meant to come here to serve a purpose and I can't fulfill a job if I don't have the right tools and resources. . What typically happens when you at least allow yourself to begin to think like that, you will begin to get into a place of giving and also into a place of being grateful that you can give and then of course the Law of Attraction is that what you give, you receive and so you begin to see that the more you give the more you have a desire to have and it's not coming from a place of greed or from a feeling of lack. It's coming from a place of wanting to share in everything that the world has to offer. As easy as that sounds, you just start to build from that place of gratitude and that place of desire.

If this is a belief that is blocking you, try to remember that two of the most important things when it comes to the Law of Attraction is gratitude and service. Get yourself into a place of feeling that you are here to be of service to other people. So you will need tools and resources to be the best person that you can be to live the most comfortable life that you can in order for you to be able to focus your energy on being of service to the rest of the world.

I'm not deserving!
I'm not deserving!

How to get beyond the belief that "I'm not deserving"

Just by human nature we often think about doing things for other people and we go take those little extra steps and put more energy into doing for others, whereas for ourselves we would kind of neglect these things. A lot of times we have a better outlook on other people than we do on ourselves because there is some distance. Kind of like the old saying "you can't see the forrest through the trees". We seem to have a more complete sense of other people sometimes better than of ourselves. So again, it's looking at how other people are doing things. Sometimes the way we look at ourselves or what we say to ourselves boils down to pretty petty stuff.

So when we are talking about our own money issues sometimes we are a little too close to the issues. A lot of times with money right now, we are trying to blame the economy on a lot of people with our problems. With the economy, the wind is blowing the same way for everybody. It's what we do with the wind! So think about that....

The third common belief is "I don't believe it is possible"

Why do you think people don't believe that it's possible to attract more money? The biggest problem is that people start to manifest something huge like a building or owning a skyscraper by next week. They go to work but of course they fail because they don't have the foundation. You must start with a foundation and go one step at a time. Don't try to jump up all the stairs at once just to be at the top of the staircase when you haven't even learned to step up even one stair.

When you're about to pay for something how can you "think", "visualize", "imagine", having more money when you look in your wallet and see only the amount you need to make the purchase? And if you didn't get that question, saying it another way is say you're at the store and you want to buy something and don't have enough money to pay for it and so how do you attract money right there on the spot so when you open your wallet you actually have more money.

I feel that is where most people get misled by the Law of Attraction that they believe that somehow there's some magical way to make the impossible...possible, in a very short period of time.

Not to beat up on you who think this way but the Law of Attraction is not Harry Potter. We all have this intellectual knowledge about the Law of Attraction but oftentimes we want to use it at times when we are most stressed and most in need. We come at the Law of Attraction and want to use it from a place of absolute total fear. Then what happens is rather than putting out the vibe of wanting something to come at us at ease we're putting out the vibration of intense fear. As you are well aware of, fear is like a big gray cloud, overshadowing everything. So we don't get what we want and we don't believe that it's possible.

It's just not possible!
It's just not possible!

How to get over the belief that "it's not possible". When people believe that something is not possible there are two things going on. First there is the belief that it's not possible for them and again it goes back to the belief that they're not deserving. Then it is not possible at all. Again, it's a building process.

I really believe, and we've all seen this too, is that manifesting and the Law of Attraction comes into play in our lives in all different kinds of ways. Oftentimes it seems so insignificant that we don't even realize it. And that's the place we have to get back to, to recognize those and be able to appreciate those moments when we do manifest things. I remember hearing a lot of times when I began learning the Law of Attraction the whole thing about manifesting a parking space didn't mean much to me but may have meant much to you. So think of something that means something to you, that you have noticed in your life or things have come to you with ease. Rather than focusing on what's not happening, what is it that has happened and what is it that has worked for you? The parking lot thing keeps coming up because it was mentioned in the news and on the secret so often.

With attracting money, we get ourselves so wrapped up and part of that involves us worrying about what happens if the money doesn't come" It's not a big deal if you've got to walk another block or park two spaces over so get used to working at it with the small stuff then move on to the bigger stuff. Then it won't be a big deal if it doesn't come through. It's like doing anything, we learn how to swim with little swimmies on our arms first before we swim and we learn how to drive in a parking lot before we drive in the street. It's not a big deal. You wonder if it works. If you start with the small stuff it doesn't really matter.

This is nothing profound or anything you haven't heard before but I hope that maybe by hearing it again you can implement it into your lives. Just break it down into smaller and smaller steps. This way the Law of Attraction really works because it's a building of energy, a building of momentum, getting yourself into that feeling place slowly but surely but not expecting you to jump from a place of absolute fear to feeling absolute. Once you get the Law of Attraction rolling to attract money, it will build momentum and keep right on rolling. Then it will take a lot less energy to keep it rolling.

Start with something. Set out with the intention to attract more money and 2009 will be a lot more different financially than 2008. So lets get smart this year!

Great post Dottie, I plan to make more and I also want to donate more I earn this year. I read "Law of Attraction" found it very useful. It says if you focus on positive things only positive thing happen otherwise negative thoughts keep attracting negative things. But I find if we do more good things, good things happen :)

That is funny quicksand. I'll have to come by and revisit it. It is 2:00 a.m. in the morning so I think it will have to wait til tomorrow. I don't think anything positive could register with me until I get some sleep.

Take care and see you around!

Hi SweetiePie,

I am sure glad you have learned the very importance of deservability! When I was in my early twenties or even early thirties and beyond I did not understand. You hit the nail on the head when you said we must all realize we are deserving of what we work for before we can accept more money into our lives. Good for you and thank God I learned! I always say "better late than never". Thanks for the visit :)

I really enjoyed the advice in your hub and I could identify with some of it from when I was younger. I used to believe in my early twenties that I was not deserving of material wealth (not that I want to be a millionaire), but I finally learned to get past those thoughts. My sister is a very hard worker and sometimes she feels she did not work hard enough to earn her money, and I told her of course you do. We must all realize we are deserving of what we work for before we can accept more money into our lives.

Hi quicksand,

I'm happy to hear that these things make sense to you too. Like your belief that the need to take precautions in most cases can be totally eliminated by sheer positivity is definitely a shared one in my belief system.

You are welcome for the hub and something tells me that you are really good at being positive and think that it would be nice if you published a hub on this subject. I always like your comments, always positive and wise :)

Take care...

Hi Dottie,

Everthing you say here makes sense.

I too have benefitted immensely from positivity and actions which were based purely on positive thoughts along with the certainty of success. I also believe that the need to take precautions in most cases can be totally eliminated by sheer positivity.

Thanks for the hub. :)

Thanks Catherina. I like what your friend imagines to help release the fear. It is good to keep the bucket full. Thanks for coming by and also for the recommendation for Florence Scovel Shinn's book. It sounds like a book I would really enjoy. Take care now! xx

Great hub, Dottie! It made me think of my friend, who told me she simply imagines money being like the ocean; you can keep coming back to fill your bucket... this helps her release the fear that there is not enough.

By the way, I can recommend the book: "The writings of Florence Scovel Shinn" with lots of great stories of the simple ways of Law of Attraction and many great and beautiful affirmations. xx

Hi Shirley Angel:) You can say that again, "it's a work in progress" but for sure the load becomes lighter the more you do the work.  Once you begin to get a hang of it too it actually can be fun because you know there is something better waiting for you on the other side.  The grass really is greener over there, lol.  I know that you know what I mean! lol

About changing the energy, I heard that before but just recently have begun to get it.  I'm going to be soon visiting your LOA blog to let you know more.

Thanks for visiting Shirley, it's always nice to see you:)

Excellent hub, Dottie Angel!! I love how you identified not only the what, but also the how. I also like that you mentioned to start small, I think that will help a lot of people who still aren't sure about LOA.

People like myself, have worked through a LOT of blocks....but it's still a work in progress. As uncomfortable as the dark times can be, they get a little lighter all the time and they serve to identify yet another block that I can remove. Ya just gotta love it, don't you?

Do you know, this is the second hub today that I've read that discussed changing your energy to allow manifesting? I love it!

Thanks for writing this, Dottie!

Hi Amanda - and presto there you were at work and reading my hub of whom you were the first I saw when I turned on my computer this morning.   I'm sure glad it served as a reminder to not let little things get the best us.  Put on smile and have a great and cheery day :)  Thank you for stopping by and commenting.

Hi VioletSun - I read this book years ago and don't know what became of it but I recently downloaded it as a free giveaway; what a book, and what a gift!  There was much to serve as a reminder that I needed to hear again.  Thanks for coming by and I appreciate the thumbs up.  Take care:)

Hi Ripplemaker - that does seem to be the misconceptual that so many hold in their minds toward money.  And I am grateful that you have the right mindset.  Some people live their whole life and don't get it but I sense this will be the year for many.  People are now starting to pay attention and learning that gratitude needs to be present for a wealthy and abundant life.  Thanks for the visit :)

Hi KCC - Observing others and grasping the idea that the rich think and do differently than the poor is so important to get. You sound like a very wise teacher. Thanks for the mention of the book by Peter McWilliams. Sounds like one I need to check out. Thanks for passing through with such wisdom.

Thank you ilovehubbing for taking the time to come by and read my hub. Take care:)

Great hub Dottie! As a teacher myself of the law of attraction principles, I find the greatest inspiration for getting that "I can do it" feeling is to observe others. If people could just grasp that rich people think differently than poor people. That is the one and only difference that makes ALL the difference. That also applies to overweight people versus thin people, sick people versus healthy people. There is a book called "You Can't Afford the Luxury of a Negative Thought" by Peter McWilliams. That is so true. Negative thought lead to so much unneccessary misery.

Hi Dottie, I agree this 3 beliefs are the major stumbling blocks to attracting wealth in our lives. Do you know there was a time I thought that money was "evil" because I saw how families were destroyed by greed? And then when I changed mindset about that, the three things you mentioned here just sprouted up from nowhere! LOL I am so grateful to say that I'm now believing that it is possible, it's easy and I am deserving of all the wealth and abundance of life. Thanks for this beautiful hub :-)

I also read Napoleon Hill's book over 25 years ago, and I still have copy of his book. The part about not being deserving is one many folks don't understand... one can repeat affirmations over and over again, but if a little part of ourselves feels undeserving, we won't attract prosperity. Change within and the world outside will change.

Thanks for this hub- as I like to tell my friends and loved ones, we humans need to be reminded over and over again of these spiritual an practical principles.

Thumbs up to a positive energy hub!

Hi Dottie,

This was just the wake up call I needed this morning, having turned into work in a negative frame of mind. The office is quiet at the moment, so I thought I would read a few hubs whilst waiting for the Saturday morning crowd to appear. Hey presto, yours was the first I chanced upon (Thanks to Country Woman, who I was following) I have read so much about the Law of Attraction, and know it's benefits but sometimes it's all too easy to let niggly things get to you!

Countrywomen- I agree that "Think and Grow Rich" is one of the best books to read. Your father sounds like a real wise man and he has a very wise daughter beyond her years :) I appreciate your passing through, reading my hub and leaving such valued comments. Thank you!

Dottie- I read Napolean Hills "Think and Grow Rich" and it was really one of the best books that I ever read. I agree we shouldn't stumble whenever we feel some resistance. My father once said "Anything that is good for us in the long run may not be easy for us and anything that is easy for us may not be good for us in the long run". There is some truth in this quote "An ordinary person looks at difficulty in every opportunity and an extra ordinary person looks at opportunity in every difficulty".

I have sometimes observed that those that actually need the counseling are the least receptive to good advice and those who are most receptive don't actually need the advice in the first place. Thumbs up for a fantastic hub.
