Combine your internet telephone and cable service. Companies are offering services that combine all of these features. They not only cost less, but also offer the convenience of a single bill.

Keep Your loose Change:  Anytime you find loos change anywhere around the house or walking in the streets, make sure you keep it and put them away in a jar that nobody else can find.  You will be surprised how each day you come home to drop coins in.  Before you know it you would have accumulated tons of change and you will be ready to fill up another money jar.  This works great for me!

Make you internet service a bit slower: I went to the 5 MG internet service option instead of the 10 or 20 mgb speeds, with my cable company and saved about $20 a month. I’m sure you won’t even notice a difference when surfing online either.

Buy a refurbished Computer: Refurbished machines always cost less and you can find them in pawn shops or locations that sell computer parts.

Never pay for checking account fees: Nobody like bank fees, right? There are so many free checking account plans around that there is no reason to ever pay a fee. If the bank charges you for one, ask them to remove the fee or you can take your business elsewhere to another bank.

Get yourself a rewards card: There are so many reward card out there that actually pay out in cash or points that can be redeemed for products or even travel. Most reward cards don't have an annual fee.

Drive your car longer instead of Trading it in sooner:
If you were to keep selling your new car every year or two you would be gaiing negative equity if you were to try to trade it in. Drive it as long as you safely can for amazing savings in the long run.

Annually pay your life insurance instead: I bet you didn’t know that life insurance companies will charge you more if you pay monthly, quarterly or semi-annually. If you pay once a year instead of monthly you will end up paying less in the long run.

Change to a gas water heater: Gas water heaters are more energy efficient and will save you lots money for years to come.

Request a reduction of your interest rate from your home equity credit line: I did this and my mortgage company agreed to reduce my rate by more than 0.50%. If you are looking for a different a home equity loan, you can try LendingTree.com. It’s a great place to check out anything that’s available.

Ask for a reduction in your interest rate from your credit cards: As with home equity loans, credit card companies are sometimes willing to reduce your interest rate. It can't hurt to call them and ask. There are also other programs that can help you out in this.

Refinance you home or 2nd mortgage: It is often beneficial to refinance if you can reduce your interest rate by one percent or more. This is quite true for those people with high interest rates due to lower credit scores. If your score has improved significantly, then you may be able to qualify for a better interest rate altogether. You should start by asking your current mortgage lender about lower rates to help you out. This will identify if refinancing is the right thing for you to do.

Obtain your books or other reading material from the local library: Reading is always fun and educational, so why spend money for it? Most of the books that I read come from the local library. You can beat free reading material at all.

Obtain DVDs from your local library: Most libraries have movies on DVD now that can be checked out. Watching free movies will surely save you a lot of money.

Red Box your DVD Rentals: Ever heard of that Red Box near your local gas station or Walmart? Well they have DVD’s for a dollar a night. You can also get DVDs online from Netflix. This is also a wonderful, low cost and convenient alternative to save you some money.

Read magazines from your local library or online for free: Too many magazine subscriptions can cost you a fortune in the long run. How many times have you bought a magazine based on the cover and have been disappointed by the lack of good reading material? You can read magazines for free at the library. Many magazines offer their content for free online now. I bet you didn’t know that?

Limit your holiday gift giving to family: Make sure you agree with your family in advance to limit the gifts and save everybody some money. At Christmas time, our extended family and we go overboard when it comes to gift giving.

Stop purchasing lottery tickets: You might as well be burning your own money away because the chances of winning are very low.

Purchase appliances that are energy efficient: Make sure that you see the Energy Star on most appliances and consider the yearly energy cost before purchasing. Most efficient appliances cost more at first, but you can then make up the extra cost over the life of the product in the long run.

Use your employer 401k: If your employer matches your 401k contributions, make sure you do everything you can to take full advantage of that money match. If you don’t that would be money lost. Purchase your vehicle online: Search online for information on the car that you want and then send e-mail requests to dealers for the best price around. Even if the dealer is located in another state, the cost to have the car delivered may still be worth it. I paid $575 to have a Honda Civic shipped 515 miles and still saved about $1,000 over the best local price tag available.

Request a discount on your trash and garbage service: The Garbage business is highly competitive. Call your current garbage company and ask them to beat any offer that you get for any other garbage pickup service. My garbage service has been reduced 3 times in 9 months to match local competing offers.

You don’t need a home telephone service: This is another great way to save you and your family money. Many don't do it because of the 911 service, and that's understandable. But if there's no reason to keep a land line if you are comfortable relying on your mobile phone. Plus, it is already a thing of the past.

Don’t take extended warranties: A $135 two year extension on a $355 product is not worth it at all. Warranties are just insurance, and we really never need to insure such a small amount anyways.
