How To Decorate Cheap but Look Expensive
Want to Recorate Within Your Budget?
Where to start?
Start with the basics. How far are you going with the re-decorating? Is everything going or just getting a small refresher ? Make a plan of what you want, and the style you want in to look like. A nice style to go with is modern, it looks clean-cut and neat while being easy to do on a small budget.
Where to Shop?
After looking at your plan for what you want and need, it's time to start shopping. Remember to stay within budget and don't compromise your budget for something you don't even need. If you have problems with overspending enlist a trusty friend or family member to shop with you and stop you from a budget breakdown. Make sure they have a copy of your budget list as well so they know what you need.
Nowadays there are more options for consumers who want to re-decorate, but don't have thousands to spend. Try stores like Ikea, Walmart, Zellers, or look for sales and great deals. Beware of items on sale though, it may be cheap but if you don't need it in the first place it's a waste of money either way.
When buying from any store make sure you don't have doubts about the item, and more importantly make sure the item is of good quality. If you are planning to assemble it yourself, make sure you can really do it. I've gotten many a wobbly desk and closet thats display didn't wobble in store, and I'm fairly certain it was due to my inability to build desks.
Make Your Own
Some of the things that would usually cost you big bucks can be done for little cost to you. All it takes is a little time and creativity. You can paint your own masterpieces and hang then on the walls instead of someone else's work. Or you can get cheap frames from the dollar store for way less than a department store. You would be surprised what a little creativity with crafts, knitting, or other handiwork can do for your budget.
