How to Install Wordpress to Your Information Website - Step 1

  • Go to http://yourdomain.com/cpanel (obviously you’ll use whatever domain you chose, not “yourdomain.com”). If a login prompt comes up, your site is ready to work with. If no login prompt appears, you may have to wait for your nameservers to update (remember it could take up to 24 hours).
  • Use the username and password from your Freehostia welcome email to log into your website.
  • Scroll down and click on ‘Elefante Free Scripts.’ As highlighted on the first image on the right.
  • Choose Wordpress, which is under the Blog heading, then choose ‘ Install Wordpress 3.0.1.’ as highlighted in the image below.
  • Leave ‘Install in a directory’ blank.
  • Choose a username and password for Wordpress.
  • Choose your admin nickname and an email address (Note: use one of your personal email addresses for now. The email@yourdomain.com addresses are not automatically set up for you.)
  • Leave the ‘Site Name’ and ‘Site Description’ as they are.
  • Click ‘Install Wordpress’ and then ‘Finish Installation.’
  • Visit your site to see your new Wordpress installation (you may have to refresh the page a time or two while it installs).
