Is it Possible to Stop Paying Property Taxes by Removing Your Property from the Tax Rolls?

Could it be possible that we don't have to pay property taxes? Could it be that we, as citizens, have been victimized to an even larger extent than previously known? The Organized Crime Syndicate known as our Government knows no bounds!

How would you like to be totally free from paying property taxes? I'm not talking about disputing your bill, I'm talking about NEVER PAYING PROPERTY TAXES AGAIN! Not because you stop paying your taxes but because they take your property OFF the TAX ROLLS! Do you realize what this means? It means FREEDOM! It means living off-the-grid with NO BILLS at all, this is HUGE!

Not long ago, I received an email from a distraught senior citizen asking me for help. She was desperate because she did not have enough money to pay her property taxes. She asked me if there were any states that did not have property taxes. Sadly, I had to say no and that just recently (after a glimmer of hope that one state might abolish this abhorrent tax it was in fact voted that North Dakota keep their property tax). I wasn't able to give her much hope. Having wrestled with this issue before I started looking into again, trying to find a way to live free in these United States without paying property taxes.

I stumbled upon a radio program (please take the time to listen to the radio program in the videos below) in which a guy named “Steve” (no last name) made the audacious proclamation that we don't have to pay property taxes! According to “Steve” he fought the fight and won to remove his property from the tax rolls in Florida. He said that after studying the following documents:

The Constitution

His State Constitution (Florida in his case)

State Statutes and Codes

and Case Law

that he was able to have his property removed from the tax rolls. Not only that but he claimed that he helped his friends and family to do the same.

Where you aware of these laws that say we don't have to pay property taxes?

  • Yes
  • No
  • No, but I'm not convinced that this is true.
See results without voting

So what is his claim? Here is his argument in 5 easy steps

  1. We have a Constitutional right to own property.

  2. That the Constitution says that we cannot be deprived of our property w/o due process. There is no due process in an Eviction.

  3. That his state Constitution (Florida) clearly points out that “shelter” is included in that right.

  4. That the only entity that can sell your property is the title holder and the state is not the title holder.

  5. That the only property that can lawfully be taxed in Florida (according to Florida's own laws) is property that is being used as a business or for commercial purposes.

He claims to have fought and won to have his property removed from the tax rolls because it was not being used as a business. Furthermore, the definition of business is not selling eggs from your land but a business that is incorporated.

Now, I have NO IDEA if this is true, or if this method would apply in other states. But, I personally, am going to look into this and see if this can be done in the state I wish to build my homestead. Some have commented that it's a risky proposition, however, according to “Steve” he didn't even have to go to court, he just made his case (after spending years studying the issue, I might add) and they just removed his home from the tax records. Moreover, if you are in danger of losing your property due to back taxes, then what do you have to lose?

My gut instinct tells me that this guy is right. Why? Because the evil men in charge have done things like this before. Anyone who has watched Aaron Russo's film “From Freedom to Fascism” knows that the income tax law is being used unlawfully to confiscate our money. And there's more, state and local governments hide revenue from us by using budgets instead of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. And, we are all familiar with the mother of all ponzi schemes known as the Federal Reserve. So, there are three very good examples of government extortion and fraud right there. Do you see a pattern? If you are unfamiliar with those examples I have links and videos below.

The powers that be are counting on your ignorance. They know that most people do not know the Constitution, their state Constitution or the laws and that most people in America are too apathetic to fight for their own freedom. They are right. Most people will not fight and most people will not bother to do the due diligence that it takes to find out if this is true.

This is a fight that can be done without blood and without bullets. This is a fight that uses your mind and your passion, will you fight? Will you stand up for freedom?

There are 7 parts to this, make sure to watch all 7! And, this guy talks fast so you might have to listen to it a few times.

Yet another awesome piece of work!

If more people would take the time to learn and then stand up for their rights, this would be a far better country to live in.

This doesn't surprise me one bit. A few years ago, I saw a documentary (don't recall what it's called right now) that explained how there is no law in the USA requiring citizens to pay income tax; in fact, it's against the Constitution. According to the doc, a small handful of crooked politicians tried to make it law while congress was away for Christmas, but when everyone came back, they vetoed it. There is still no record of this law; it is still illegal for the US government to charge income tax, which I guess makes their collection fraud and their forceable imprisoning people who don't an illegal detainment for ransom. I'm wondering if the UN will ever step in and hold the US accountable for all those violations of human liberties.

Now, in Canada ... we were freaking stupid enough to pass it as a law.

I'm sharing this with all my US friends ...

Reading this causes me to remember an article I read on a website The article is called " Is Living Off the Grid Now a Crime?" Basically the people live in Antelope Valley California, and they live off the grid completely. They have no neighbors for miles around. Counties are forming what they call nuisance abatement teams. These teams of people work for code enforcement and are armed. They do raids on people that have lived like this for 15+ years telling them they have to reconnect to the grid or lose their homes. They pay all of their property taxes and bother no one. They live how they want comfortably. No matter if property taxes are paid, these people are being forced out of their homes because the government wants to be paid all the way around. One guy was told he needed a permit to reconstruct part of his home. The county would not let him purchase the permit until he reconnected to the grid. If he could not obtain the permit, he would have to leave his property. Freedom??? Even though these people pay their taxes, the governments are forcing them to leave their property if they don't live on the grid. How is that freedom? We're forced to pay taxes if we want land and shelter, now people are being forced to live on the grid??? If there's a way to a way to avoid paying property taxes it needs to go viral. Great article.

Thanks for all the fab comments. This article and the video below can be used to wake people up. In a way, it's very exciting because (at least for now) the law is on our side! We just have to educate ourselves. I, for one, intend to do just that for the state of Idaho. I hope that you all will do the same. Viva La Resistance!

"Amethystraven" I heard about that too. What this does for me and what I'm going to do is to start looking at other "supposed" laws that we are supposed to pay. For example, my son recently got a ticket for making an illegal right hand turn on a red light. He was going into his apartment parking lot. Do you know how much the ticket was? $500!!! And it was his first ticket! We must start fighting back, it wont be long until they are putting us up the chimneys!

We fight back by growing our own food, not consuming useless products that sit in land fills or pollute the planet and our bodies if we can help it. Each person who chooses to, can live somewhat free from pollution. I am constantly wondering what freedoms we can't have in order to have the ones we supposedly do. The police have something to go on if there was a visible sign posted saying no right turn on red. If there was no visible sign, then they should not be allowed to ticket people. $500.00 is beyond ridiculous. Who sits back and decides these amounts for tickets and citations? who agrees with it? Are so called civilians allowed to have a say in what a ticket or citation amount is? I've always wondered who determines the amounts. When, and where do they determine them?

I don't know but they could say $10,000 and then what, it's out of control!

If you don't pay your property taxes you will eventually lose your house. You gut instinct might tell you that Steve with no last name is right. My experience and training as a lawyer tell me he is wrong. I warn everyone to know and follow the applicable laws.

Chris, Did you watch the 7 part video?

It wasn't that he didn't "pay" his property taxes. He had his property taken off the tax rolls, so they never sent him another bill.

Hello Again Brie ~ Thank you for the recommendation to visit this Hub of yours ~ I love the controversy ~ And that it gets people thinking ~

I will get a chance to watch the video's later ~ In the meantime, there are a few things that don't quite ring true ~ At least for California, Nevada, Texas and Florida where the property tax structure is similar in each ~

Steve, with no last name, may have gotten his property temporarily removed from the tax rolls, but it won't be for long ~

Anyone can walk into a County Assessor's Office, sign an affidavit claiming the property on a tax bill does not even exist, and get away with it until found out ~ Especially if it is at the end of a street or in a rural area ~

Not receiving a property tax bill, by law, does not eliminate the property tax consequences or responsibilities to pay them ~ Just like not receiving an income tax package from the IRS would eliminate having to pay income taxes ~

Continued in next comment ~

Earth Angel profile image

Earth Angel 4 years ago

I don't know where "Steve" said he laid out his arguments for getting his property taken off the property tax rolls ~ No one in a County Office, nor a State Office for that matter, would have the decision making authority to remove a property from the tax rolls ~

No one can just walk into a government office and explain to the clerk behind the desk the Constitutional unfairness of property taxes ~ Although the paid government employee might agree, that's as far as it would go ~

The only way any of what Steve said could happen would be in a Court and would take years of trial and appeal and hundreds of thousands of dollars ~

Continued in next comment ~

Earth Angel profile image

Earth Angel 4 years ago

Then there is the issue of Google Earth ~ Which has been used by Property Tax Collection Agencies and County/City Permit departments for years ~ If you put in a swimming pool, or install a new roof, or even build a little shed, last year's satellite photo of your property is compared with this year's satellite photo of your property ~

Which means, if Steve somehow got his property taken off the tax rolls, it won't last long ~

Love these topics you come up with ~ Blessings, Earth Angel ~

I don't know. Did you listen to the video below? You would have to look at your state and see if it has the same definitions as Steve from the video said. I do know that I'll be looking into it and I also know that the power elite have done similar things before.

Earth Angel profile image

Earth Angel 4 years ago

Blessings to you Brie,

The power elite often do not pay property taxes because their properties have been converted into, or title given to, 501(c)3 corporations/charities ~ Non-profits do not pay property tax on the properties they own in California, Nevada, Texas and Florida and probably some others.

I continue to love this dialog!

Hi Brie,

I'm highly interested in this controversy but after watching the video From Freedom to Fascism I have one question on my mind... About 20 minutes in it is mentioned that income taxes don't do towards education, property taxes do. I personally don't plan on putting my kids through the school system but I am curious as to what the government will do about education if more and more people begin to avoid property taxes.

Keep up the great hubs! :)

All the education system is now is an indoctrination push. Watch the film "Indoctrination". The faster it is dismantled the better in my opinion.

I do not advise putting an earthen roof on your home for any reason unless you live in the desert. See my hub on what happened to ours. Anyway, remember several years ago when an email and online articles circulated about how you don't have to make your house payments to a mortgage company because of several so-called constitutional issues? People were losing their homes and being prosecuted over this. I agree with the others that Steve's little paradise won't last long. Interesting hub and voted you up anyway.

Hi there, I have been studying a long time about law verses our legal system and they are 2 completely different things, I no longer register my vehicles, I don't have a drivers license, I don't have tabs on a license plate, my plate is a novelty license plate with a code written on it, my front license plate is a mirror and I have in Travel written across the top of my windshield, on the sides of my doors I have a statute Chicago v Chicago coach etc Obey the Law personal property No trespassing , On the back of my tailgate I have magnetic signs, one of the signs says ( Obey the Law, Turning rights to privileges is breaking the Law) I have studied for about 6 years and it is paying off, I have information and am saving new information on how to own your property free and clear with out ever having to pay taxes again, in fact they have been charging us property taxes unlawfully for a long time . How can you possibly say you own something and still have to pay to use it or else!! what a bunch of nonsense. If you would like to know more please let me know. Sincerely

Good lookin out Brie! I would not be surprised if this was tru. I'm thinking it is best to continue to look, learn and fight, rather than to think that things are right and acceptable because they're the norm now.

The poster that mentioned the codes people trying to force people has a point though, and it does hold that these codes statutes and laws are constantly being used against people that just want liberty.

My goal is to practice and spread the idea of full self suffiency and responsibility, while trying enlighten others that we need to reform. If nothing else, at least we have fought a good fight in the end.

Thanks verymuch for your page, you are certainly doing all of this!

I think it's odd that I'm not finding much on the proptax subject vs all the info on traffic, victimless crime, and incometax law unconstitutionallity. I will be looking more as well as well. I'm guessing maybe that marc guy has touched on it.

Anyway, Thanks!

Thanks Jay..and yes we have to quit accepting the slavery our government is inducing just because it's the norm. Who said it's the norm? Why should we pay all these taxes, fees, licenses, tickets, permits ad nauseum? Just because our masters say so? I say resist, do not comply and bring down this illegal tyranny that is no longer for the people, by the people!

Hi. Listened to the video interview with "Steve" at length. In fact, I live in one of the counties in which he claims to have had success in removing a property from the tax rolls. Had a little knowledge on the matter but took notes and researched his comments for myself. He is correct on what is stated in Florida code. Took a direct approach in writing with the county tax collector based on the information plus additional details I personally became aware of. Tax Collector had attorney reply in writing who completely evaded the Constitutional issues and only partially replied to some of the questions. Reached out to the Bo & Rocko show several times asking for "Steve's" email address or at least forward my information to "Steve" with a request that he contact me for further educational discussion, especially since he claims to have had success in my county. However, to date, never received a reply or so much as an acknowledgment. I'm very familiar with the complete fraud that our so-called "legal" system is, and that EVERYTHING we do is CONTRACT; transactions in commerce, including appearing in one of their courts. If anyone has any information on how to contact "Steve", or additional educational material on removing one's private property from their corporate revenue rolls, please feel free to contact me. With a pending financial collapse in the very near future, if we don't save our homes then all of us will be out in the streets or guests at one of their FEMA camps.

I have been in contact with Steve in Fla. He is 100% correct. We r being taxed on the presumption that the land you own is in some way being used ino a commercially taxable privilege.

Seek so shall ye find the answers in your own state codes, statutes and constitutions.

I shall ask him for permission to post contact info here.

People have rights, governments have duties and persons are the creation of the STATE.

The question you should be asking is, am I a person as defined by statute or am I the people to which government owes its creation?

Words of art are used to control you. Find out what a " taxpayer " is find out what a " person " is and you will very quickly understand the words of art that are used to define WHO is " liable " for a tax.

In this fiction world we live in today the states constitution which was originally established and chartered and incorporated by we the people is not what is operating today it is a Unincorporated state operating in a form or spirit of a corporation outside the charter expose this information in your situation no matter what it is because it all works the same everywhere in the form of a trust and they can't deny it any corporate entity has to come at you under their charter not under any other name this is fraud... Steve is exposing the fraud in just a Little different way ..I a man not a fiction all Capitol letter citizen demand my god given right to shelter as prescribed in household goods and personal affects hidden to us in that so called new version constitution ...UPPER/ lowercase vs ALL CAPATOL do you get it?

Very interesting to say the least, Brie. My "wish" would be that this could be done legally....but my gut reactions is....After Steve was successful, why on earth have not thousands upon thousands of people in Florida followed suit?

And if everyone were to do this...then what? Knowing the liars and greed mongers (crooks) called, "Politicians" long can we suppose it would take for them to find several ways to take more of our money using new tricks and scams?

It's so damned frustrating and depressing. All we Americans do anymore is fight, struggle and become exasperated. We are REALLY long overdue for simply TAKING OUR COUNTRY BACK. IT BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE. Thanks for sharing this unusual information.....UP+++

I agree "FPHERJ48". To tell you the truth I'm not sure if this can be done anymore. I wrote the article a couple of years ago so take it for what it's worth. Unfortunately I think we are heading for much more difficult to prepare for the worst hope for the best.

Bob Hurt 23 months ago

The substance of your article above is hogwash, bullshouts, fiddle faddle, nonsense, and balderdash. And it just isn't true.

We have a right to own property that we acquire legally (bequest, inheritance, purchase, gift, grant). However, we must abide by zoning laws, Home Owner Association rules, deed restrictions, public safety requirements, and tax laws. We MUST pay property taxes unless we get an exemption authorized by the state constitution and law. The government can take it by eminent domain, paying us fair market value for it, AND an ADVERSE POSSESSOR can comply with the legal requirements and deprive us of possessory dominion over it if we don't defend it. People who don't pay tax on property assessed value exceeding exemption amount can lose it to tax deed sale in the 3rd year. By definition, evictions are a legal process authorized by courts for failure to pay rent or mortgage payments or otherwise violating an associated contract. The Florida Constitution does not contain the word shelter.

If I were you, I would remove the article altogether because it seems to mislead ignorant people into wasting a lot of time and resources, and possibly into taking illegal actions that will get them convicted and jailed or sued.

I ask the question, I'll let others look into it..besides that if what you are saying is true then we never really OWN our property.

MizBejabbers profile image

MizBejabbers 23 months ago from Arkansas

Your statement that “we never really OWN our property” is without a doubt correct. My husband has been complaining about that for years. Legally our name is on it, but if we don’t dot all our “I”s and cross all our “t”s there is always someone or something waiting in the wings to take it from us. I live in the county, but we “own” rental property in the city, and I just read a city ordinance that if someone gets a utility disconnected and doesn’t get it reconnected, he is subject to a fine of $250. One of my tenants was complaining that if he had the $250 to pay the fine, he wouldn’t have gotten his electricity disconnected in the first place.

I bring this up because I wonder if it applies if the person goes off the grid intentionally. We do have a law in our state that we can generate our own electricity, and the electric company must buy from us any excess electricity that we generate. To do so, one would have to stay connected to the grid.

Brie Hoffman profile image

Brie Hoffman 23 months ago from Manhattan Author

I suppose "MizBejabbers" something like that would be different in each state and maybe even in each county. But, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they started implementing that more and more. It's tyranny plain and simple!
