People in England are looking at any 20 pence pieces that come their way after it has been revealed that due to a production error 20 pence pieces were issued without a date on them back in 2008 for the first time in 300 years.

The 20p coins pronounced (pee) have now become collectors items with serious money being payed for them on ebay. The London Mint office is offering to buy the twenty pence pieces without a date back for £100 each.

Anyone lucky enough to find one of the 20 pence pieces must apply to the London Mint office and register although only 10,000 applications are being accepted.

Its estimated a possible 250,000 could of been printed after the coins were redesigned in 2008.

The error occured when the old design which only had the date printed on the reverse was changed and the new design had the date on the front. The coins where then struck the new back and old front which resulted in their being a 20 pence with no date on the coin.

The coins still remain legal tender but many will be thinking twice before handing over a 20 pence without a date for a Newspaper. And for once people will be glad of a little small change just incase they get lucky and they can turn small money into big money.
