Do you think a large number of rich people got rich by immoral or illegal means?

    Why or why not?

I think a large number of people that flaunt money make most of it from drugs. If we are talking the ultra rich billionaires, then for sure they have been immoral or done some illegal things. The government is corrupt enough to allow these people to get by with reduced taxes and financial support with bailouts. I could give examples for the next hour but they have have at some point committed crimes and been immoral to get to that status of wealth.

Examples of oil tycoons drilling for oil in Africa and destroying the villagers landscape and well being for personal greed. Slave wages in the factories to drive their profits ups. Chinese workers have a record rate of committing suicide in factories that produce Apple products etc. Also the war in Iraq and Afghanistan made the ultra rich even richer with all the oil and opium they gained control of. Then comes in the people who produce the weapons and equipment for war (trillions) etc

Hmm, good question. I would love to think that all wealthy individuals achieved success legally and through hard work and education, but we all know that is not always the case. I think the majority of wealthy individuals either have some sort of family inheritance (i.e. land, business, stocks) that set them ahead early in their life. And that is certainly a legal means. However, in Youngstown, Ohio, where I live, I can't help but question how some people are able to drive $50,000 cars in areas are not particularly "well-off". Youngstown has a bad rap because of the amount of criminals that frequent its streets. I am not intending to judge individuals in my city, merely question their financial decisions and income sources.

Many people believe that wealthy people did/do so illegally when the reality is that there is good, bad, and ugly in every financial group. However, those with the best starts in life typically end up in the best financial situations.

I think that people only see what makes the news. I think many billionaires and millionaires are rich because they worked hard or had a great idea. Everyone who makes a lot of money didn't take it from the poor even though the media would like to act as if they did. There is nothing wrong with selling a product. Somehow many believe rich people should just hand their money to the poor or less fortunate. Personally I think most of them worked for their money. That doesn't mean there isn't a few bad apples in the bunch.

There are some good rich people and there are some quite unscrupulous ones as it is in EVERY socioeconomic classes.   There are some good middle class people as well as not so good ones.

The majority of rich people became rich by either genius, possessing phenomenal talent whether it is in singing, acting, sports, and/or another talent or expertise.  They took risks and believed in themselves.  They worked and strategized smart and made enormous sacrifices to get where they are NOW.  They also thought beyond the average.  They knew that THEY were going to achieve BIG things and make an ENORMOUS difference in the lives of others and in society.   They refused to settle for the comfortable, the average, and the middle of the road.  They knew that if they were going to succeed, they would have to go beyond their particular comfort zone and the negativity of some people, including friends and family members, exhorting them to be "more realistic" and not to go for the pie in the sky, They pursued their dreams regardless.

Speaking of dishonest people, there are some poor people who are totally unscrupulous and dishonest.  All they think about is their wants and desires and to heck with anything and everyone else.   They want to live a more affluent but are totally unwilling to make the necessary sacrifices to live the latter type of life.   Instead, they want the ea$y money and that leads into many types of deleterious activities.  There are poor people who instead of improving themselves, elect to "improve" themselves through crime.  That is the reason why so many inner city neighborhoods are in such disrepair.

Then there are poor people who love to game the welfare system.  They feel that the amount of welfare payments they receive ISN'T enough.  So they commit welfare fraud to obtain what they believe are ENTITLED to.   They believe that the guv'ment should provide for them for the dire socioeconomic predictament they are in.  They are of the school that they cannot do anything because THE MAN is holding them back, so they scam the system because they maintain that it is ALL they can do.

I do not think that all rich people are illegal as means of money. It is very true many people are rich based on hard work and we must not forget that some are rich from inheritance. Money passed down ,remember in titanic they called it old money! That money was also worked hard for by some one. Yet their source may not be known. They could have inherit money from the 20's illegal liqueur and booze, or maybe some one was good in the stock market and they passed this money down. I understand this scripture as saying from Reference  Bible Ecclesiastes 9:11 , I return to see under the sun that the swift do not have the race, nor the mighty ones the battle, nor do the wise also have the food, nor do the understanding ones also have the riches, nor do even those having knowledge have the favor; because time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all.
Also in Proverbs 14:20 it says about the Rich Man " The poor man is hated even by his neighbors, But many are the friends of the rich person.
"Eccles 3: 22  And I saw that there is nothing better than for a man to find enjoyment in his work, because that is his reward; for who can enable him to see what will happen after he is gone?
Eccles 3:20 All are going to the same place. They all come from the dust, and they all are returning to the dust.
This means rich and poor have the same ending .No status in the grave.
As written. As far a the lazy man  at Proverbs 19:15 Laziness brings on a deep sleep, And a sluggish person will go hungry.
2Th 3:10 In fact, when we were with you, we used to give you this order: “If anyone does not want to work, neither let him eat.”
Even in the future New Earth plenty of work will be in the cleaning of the earth .from what we see now. No wages involved.
Reference Bible Isa 65:21 21 They will build houses and live in them, And they will plant vineyards and eat their fruitage. 22 They will not build for someone else to inhabit, Nor will they plant for others to eat. For the days of my people will be like the days of a tree, And the work of their hands my chosen ones will enjoy to the full.
We know this is to come . Because people do not live longer then trees!
