Most people are finding ways to spend less. I think a lot of people have found that they can actually get by on a lot less than they thought.

I'm prioritizing. If I don't really need it, then I don't buy it. No eating out, no Netflix, no extra expenses. That helps me put what money I do have where it needs to go.

Minimum your cost and maximum your income is the best method for me. Try to find some part time job and make some extra money.

Cut back, cut back, and cut back some more.  Back to the old phrase " Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without". Research ways to be frugal ex. dryer sheets cut into thirds work just as well as a whole sheet. If you have to go out of town for say an appointment, shop stores while you are there to save gas. Little things like turning off lights when not needed, unpluging chargers and setting your AC a degree or two higher all add up. No more eating out, entertainment, smart phones, prepared frozen food...back to just the basics. And unfortunatly a lot of pasta...

This is a great question.  From what I've seen, people work two and three jobs if they can find them, they sell their things, they get rid of the extras they can do without, they use food stamps, they eat two meals a day instead of three...the level they choose depends on how bad it gets, but it can get really bad for some.  Those are the people you see begging on the streets.
