Do you have to confirm your bank account with PayPal to withdraw funds to your banking account?

I have added my bank account on Paypal.  Now they want me to confirm it.  I read that confirming a bank account also gives them permission to debit payments.  I really don't want to do this.  I just want to be able to withdraw funds to my bank account.  So do I have to confirm my account with Paypal just to do withdrawals?  Thanks for your replies!

My experience is that Paypal will only charge your card if you have chosen to buy something online via Paypal payments. Your credit card attached is how they secure that payment. You will need to confirm this card in order to use the Paypal service to have money wired from your Paypal account to your bank card.

This is what I have experienced anyway and hope it helps.

Thanks LucidDreams!  I do have a credit card linked to Paypal and I believe it has been confirmed already.  What I'm wondering about is my bank account information.  Do you have a bank account confirmed on Paypal?

If you do not want to confirm your bank account, you can always just have PayPal send you checks, takes a little under a week usually  and there is a 1.50 fee, but it can be an alternative.

Thank you Kaiyan717 for the information.  I will look into this. Did you confirm your bank account?

Yep, that makes a lot of sense also. I do have a bank card confirmed with Paypal and have never had any problems thus far!
