I believe that by maintaining a frugal lifestyle as your default position in life you open yourself to the world of possibilities of what you can do with what you have. Living frugally today allows you to maximize those things you do and possess in life now while at the same time preparing you to make the most of what you will have tomorrow.
As the saying goes, "Money does not buy happiness, but it does by choices." I am a firm believer in that philosophy. By making careful choices today I have the option later to use what I have saved in whatever manner I wish. If I use all that I have today without thought of how it is spent, I will probably have accumulated many things that do not add meaning or experience to my life and will not be treasured.
A frugal lifestyle is a thoughtful lifestyle. Choices - not sacrifices - are made in the now so that I may do things I want to do later. Later does not have to be retirement age; it can be 2 weeks. But, I will be prepared for it because I have planned for it.
