   $101 for cleaning as of June. It used to be $99 last year for out-of-pocket paid expenses for Spenddown.

   The Dental industry is the last great bastion of legalized crooks.
   We live in a nation where you have cheap dental coverage when you're young and don't need it. But when you retire, there you are, uninsured and with your highest costs of your dental life. DON

   Back in 1995 I paid $1500 for a bridge.  Imagine what that would cost today!  And it was plenty at the time.  I think it was 2007 that I got my last crown for $1800.  Since then only extractions for $100 - 200.
   
   Like all professionals, dentists have a lot of overhead to pay -- for rent, utilities, staff, and who knows what all to run an office. 
   
   However, if any of them can afford $50,000 + to travel to Zimbabwe to kill an animal to decorate their wall with, and can afford several of these creatures, then they are charging their customers too much, and not contributing enough to charity -- not to mention having very bad taste in wall decor.

   $2,500 for a root canal and crown, plus $800 to the oral surgeon for a crown lengthening. The dentist offered to connect me with their finance company. Apparently, in this practice, high bills happen often enough that they have a regular relationship with a finance company.
   
   My big gripe with the dentists in my area is that they are heavily upselling cosmetic services. Every single time I go in, some assistant walks in to try to talk me into whitening. I'm trying to keep my teeth in my head, and they're talking to me about whitening? What a racket.

      If you do some research you will see that this is not just happening in your area...it's happening just about everywhere, and it's disgusting!
