A Product Review

Who doesn't love soda? The average American household consumes 760 eight ounce soft drinks in a year! According to a 2009 survey from Beverage Digest, Americans spent 73.9 billion dollars on regular and diet carbonated soft drinks. Have you ever thought about how much you spend on these beverages? If you would like to have a can of soda or liter of sparkling water for a value of 25 cents and never have to pay bottle deposits again, you need to buy the SodaStream! I did it and it has really saved me a bundle of money every month.

When you buy the SodaStream starter kit this is what you will be paying for:

  • Genesis Home Soda Maker

  • 1 BPA free carbonating bottle with fizz preserving cap

  • A 12 pack of soda mix samplers

  • Reusable CO2 carbonator that is good for up to 60 liters

You will also receive a two year warranty and a 30-day money-back guarantee!

The great thing about these soda mixes is that they contain less sugar, calories, carbohydrates and sodium than ordinary soda. They do not contain any high fructose corn syrup which most of us know is linked to obesity, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. They also do not contain any aspartame which is great for those who wish to avoid this additive.

The bottles are made of high strength PET and are reusable for up to two years! The fizz preserving cap really does help each bottle of soda to stay fresh longer as well. Think of how much soda you end up dumping down the drain because they have gone flat! Why throw your money away?

It's really easy to use as well. This is all you have to do:

  1. Fill the bottle with cold water up to the line near the top. Do not fill it all the way.

    2. Screw the bottle into the carbonating head.

    3. Press the button up and down in short bursts until you hear 3 loud buzzes. This will give you carbonation at the level of most sodas. You can add more or less if you wish.

    4. Release the pressure by tilting the bottle toward you. Then remove.

That's it! You now have a bottle of fresh soda or sparkling water!

You can choose from 25 different flavors and you can even buy diet or caffeine- free flavors!

Oh, and when your carbonator is empty, all you have to do is go to any store that sells SodaStream and they will give you another one for only the cost of the gas. You can also send it back to SodaStream where they will clean it and refill it.

I think this product will really help the money- conscious shopper. In addition you can save the space you used to use for storing soda as well as saving yourself from lugging heavy cases around. There are 6 different types of SodaStream machines available to you:

  • Fountain Jet which goes for $79.95

  • Genesis which goes for $99.95

  • Pure which starts at $129.95

  • Fizz starts at $149.95

  • Crystal starts at $179.95

  • Penguin starts at $199.95

I hope you enjoy this product as much as I have! Thanks for reading!

Thanks for the comment flagostomos! These machines make great gifts. I think the taste is excellent. Its really nice that you can choose how much carbonation to add because I tend to like less carbonated drinks.

I've heard very mixed reviews about the cost effectiveness of this product... losing the larger carbonation cartriges at 1:1 trade in's and no one ever having the replacements in stock so you have to order from the company at like $50 per total (with shipping)...
