The Importance of a Definite Chief Aim

“A man succeeds in a particular line of endeavor into which he can throw his whole heart and soul.”

- Napoleon Hill

"A man who does not have a definite purpose in life dissipates his energies and spreads his thoughts over so many subjects that lead to a loss of direction."

-Napoleon Hill

Financial Independence

This line is certainly one of the most important facts anyone pursuing success should take in mind. Having a definite aim is the number one rule for any individual. It is your stepping stone towards self-improvement and likely financial independence and success. The rule is to keep a definite chief aim in mind and progressively work towards it.

“Nothing is more tragic than mental inertia.”

-Napoleon Hill

It helps you overcome fear

Goals are very powerful motivations. It keeps your thoughts working. Remember that a stagnant mind is the breeding ground of fear. It keeps you locked down in your comfort zone and prevents you from further accomplishments. You are both a contractor and a builder; it is you who draw up plans and shape your future. Nothing will happen until the moment you decide to stretch your boundaries. Move forward and don’t destroy your initiative because of fear of defeat. Because in reality, defeat is the most useful tonic as experience is always better than training.

"The best compensation for doing things is the ability to do more."

-Napoleon Hill

The magic formula:

Desire + Decision = Success

It motivates you to take it further

Saturating your thought with a definite chief aim causes the subconscious mind to influence the physical action of the body toward the fulfillment of the goal. This is because a person always acts in harmony with the dominant thought. Stated in simpler terms, having a definite chief aim is basically a form of self-hypnosis. You induce yourself in working towards that goal.

More importantly, It creates a singleness of purpose. Singleness of purpose is the key to success. Not only does it enable you to focus all your efforts, it also erases the word “impossible” from your mind. It essentially brings about one of the most important forces aside from motivation that would push you towards success: persistence.

"You'll get nowhere if you start nowhere; know what you want, when you want, and how you intend to get it."
