You can make money on the internet

Making money on the internet has become quite the thing to do these days with social networking and websites taking off. I could give you the spill on the economy and blah blah blah but I will spare you that bit and get right to the chase since this article is just to give you the top 5 ways to make money on the internet at the moment. Currently, I am finding that advertising, specifically affiliate advertising, is doing the best. There are other methods to the madness like blogging, selling products via a website, Ebay, adsense, and many others. Read below for a quick list and explanation of each method. I hope you learn something new!

1. Making a website or blog

Many people shy away from this method because they think that making a website or blog is hard and takes skills like web programming in HTML or CSS and whatnot. The reality of this method is that it is not hard and there have been many tools developed to help average people be able to create some of the best sites and blogs around.

Wordpress is one of these tools that allows average people to create a very attractive and appealing blog. There are many templates available on the web also, some free and some paid, that allow you to give eye candy to your readers. Wordpress also has many addons that give you full control over your blog and let you have many options on making your blog interactive and web search engine ready. The user interface, or UI, of wordpress is very user friendly and you can post almost with the click of the mouse. If you are just getting started and don't want to code your own website or pay someone else to code it, I heavily suggest you give wordpress a try. It is 100% free. One thing that you must have if you are going to use wordpress is hosting. You can use the wordpress free hosting, but then your site url would look like yoursite.wordpress.com and it just doesn't look good. Also, a good idea is to pick up a domain name for $10 a year. It is cheap and a surefire way to make your blog look authentic and professional. With those 2 things, you will pay only about $50 a year and be set up for as long as you wish to blog.

Once you get your blog set up and start getting traffic, you must monetize your blog in order to make money with it. Some favorite ways to do this is to put advertisements on your blog. A wonderful program that allows you to do this is Google Adsense. Some users find that adsense yields returns that no other program out there does. This can be true especially if you have unique content that caters to your target audience. If you are having trouble getting into Google Adsense or want to see what they expect, check out my article on how to get accepted into Google Adsense.

The other way to make money is by building a website. Websites are fun and challenging all at the same time. With websites, you have much more control over your content and can design the layout any way you want from the ground up. I suggest you read up on your HTML and CSS before you attempt to build your own website though as it can be difficult for first timers. There is a website out there that teaches you everything you need to know about building a website. It is called W3Schools.com. It is a free site that will teach you everything from basic HTML to advanced PHP. I would suggest that you also pick up up a book on HTML and CSS though to help you along. I did and it's totally worth it. You also need a domain and hosting for a website. I don't suggest free hosting as they can sometimes lose your content and they do not back it up. So for example if you worked for a year building up your site then all the sudden they have system trouble and lose your content then that year was for nothing. Also, a lot of them host their own ads on your site and make it very ugly. So the choice is yours.

For first timers and people looking to jump in quickly and yet still have a quality site, I suggest blogging. Try both though and see what is for you.

2. Affiliate Advertising

Affiliate advertising is a very lucrative way to make a ton of cash very quickly on the internet. It is not hard and you can do it with or without a website or blog.

Affiliate advertising is taking other peoples products and promoting them to make sales in order to receive a commission off every sale. There are many affiliate programs out there. Just to name a few, there are Clickbank, Commission Junction, and Linkshare. Those are the most popular ones if you are looking to promote another companies product. Like I stated above, you do not always need a website or blog to participate in affiliate advertising. One great way to promote is to use a site like the one your are on right now, Hubpages. On this site you can write articles on stuff that you are familiar with and then link to a relevant product through a link. Just make sure you read the Terms and Conditions to make sure that you are not just writing a hub for the sole purpose of promoting a product or a call to click to another website or sales page. That's not allowed.

You can also post on forums and leave comments in other peoples blogs about things that are relevant to something you are promoting. Just don't spam or you will find yourself banned from many useful sources to promote your affiliate links. The places you can promote your affiliate links are endless. It just takes time and dedication to sit down and find them all. Also, you can write Ezine Articles. The possibilities are endless. Just use your imagination.

3. Creating a digital product or ebook

A very good way to make large amounts of money very quickly is by creating your own digital product, whether it be software or an ebook and getting other people to promote it for you. Instead of you doing all the promotion work, you get other people to promote it for you and you sit back and collect the return on your investment, or ROI. It's not all bread and butter though, and you need to make sure that you are creating a product that other people want or need. You must create something that has value and is quality. A great place to do this is again, at Clickbank. They allow you to become a vendor in which you can post a product for other people to promote and sell. It's a great way to make some quick money with something that is of good quality. I believe they charge a flat rate one time fee of $49.95 to be able to post products on their site. Remember thought that the return off of that $49 can vastly outdo anything else you have ever done. It could be worth a try if you have something that other people want and you can turn it into a digital product.

There just isn't to much to cover on this subject and it's pretty self explanatory. This may be for you.

4. Start a product review website or blog

OK so this one requires you have a website or blog which in turn means that you need hosting and a domain. However, the catch is that people will come to your site already wanting to buy something, but they just want to know if it's any good or not. This can work in your favor. This is a combination strategy to making money on the internet. You combine building a website or blog, affiliate marketing, and Google Adsense. Or you can just have a website or blog and affiliate marketing links on the products you are reviewing. Or vice versa. It's just up to you.

Review sites are great in the aspect that they have tons of reviews on products people are looking to buy. If you can write a good review and take note of all the pro's and con's of the product, then throw in a good sales pitch, you can make some pretty good money doing this. I suggest you also use the product comparison method also. This means that you take 3-5 similar products and compare them to each other. If they are all pretty much the same and offer the same results, give the one that offers you better commission a better rating. You will be making better money and still be giving the end user a quality product. Review sites don't need to be something you are familiar with. It can be anything you use and sometimes things you don't use if you are a good enough sales person. Do you really think car salesmen have really driven or owned every different make and model of car they have ever sold? No, they haven't. But they know how to compare and make a sale and you most of the time believe the majority of what they are saying. The same goes for real estate agents.

So go find some products that you can put on your website or blog, preferably a blog, and start reviewing and comparing them. Go to the products owners website and see what they have to say about it in order to beef up your review. If you are good at it, you will start seeing some money. A good website to find products to review and compare is again, Clickbank. See what you can do with it.

5. Offer your services online

Do you know how to do things that other people do not? Are you a web design guru or can you set up a wordpress blog with templates in minutes? Do you create images or design templates with photoshop and other design tools? This could be something that other people out there are looking for. Offer your services to other people that would pay you sums of money because they don't know how to do something.

Freelancing is a great way to make money on the internet. Or you can start your own business where all you do is set up wordpress for people. This is very direct and has a very targeted market. You could find yourself making great money if you promote yourself right and do a good job. Only you know if you are capable of doing this. You can also offer support for free open source software like wordpress. If you are very good with troubleshooting or working with wordpress, you could start your own tech support deal. You never know what could happen with this. Many people don't think of this way to make money online and think they are limited to just building a website or blog then promoting links. This isn't for everyone but you could be a very good entrepreneur and not even know it yet. If you think that you have what it takes to offer support to other people over the internet, I suggest you give this a try.

I hope you learned something new

I do thank you for taking the time to check out my top 5's though and wish you the best of luck on your future endeavors. Have a wonderful day!
