Interview with RFox

  1. Tell us a little about yourself. I'm a travel junkie who was raised in Australia. My family loved to move often and those wandering ways have stayed with me. Now I'm a Canadian and love playing in the snow and having picnics with bears. I'm never happier than when I'm on the road taking pictures and have been blessed to turn this passion into my life's work. I'm also a classically trained musician and songwriter but my photography has kept me away from my music of late. I have the coolest and funniest terror of a dog named Holly (she's a Cairn Terrier) who keeps me in line and (as anyone posting in the religion forum knows) I'm a Buddhist following the Dharma path.
  2. What brought you to HubPages? My love of writing. Until HubPages I had only ever written fiction or poetry and I wanted to try my hand at some articles and then I got hooked on the forums here and stayed. Lol.
  3. What do you like Hubbing on, with respect to topics? Anything that I wake up thinking about could be my next HubPage. I have a lot of varied interests although one thing you will never see me write about are recipes. Cooking and I don't see eye to eye. Consequently I can give some great restaurant reviews. ;)
  4. What has been your best Hub so far (in your opinion)? Why? Hmmm...that's hard. My How To Tell If It's True Love Hub certainly generates the most traffic but I think I'm partial to my How To Survive A Bear Attack Hub simply because it provides practical advice that could save someone's life. I know it's completely irrelevant to most other countries in the world but here bear encounters happen frequently and there is a lot of bad and misleading information out there on the topic that does more harm than good.
  5. What is your favorite Hub by another Hubber? Why? Arghh...another hard question, there are so many great Hubs that I enjoy reading. One favorite is The Parable Of The Mustard Seed by BartholomewKlick as it details my favorite Buddhist parable. Another Hub I love is James Ray's The 10 Worst Stiffs Ever In The NBA. I couldn't stop laughing at that one and I always enjoy Mark Knowles (biased) Nikon and Canon Camera Reviews. The technical info is great but I usually comment in the hope of luring him to the Canon dark side. Lol.
  6. What is one nice thing about HubPages (the site) that many might not know? The amount of people willing to help others here is wonderful. I have had so many offers lately for support, advice and work. Most of the regulars genuinely want to help the other Hubbers succeed in whatever they do. They are not just in it for themselves. This kind of community spirit is great.
  7. Name one thing you learned about from another Hubber's Hub that you didn't know about before. I found out about The Innocence Project from Chef Jeff's Could It Happen To Me? Hub and Eric Graudins practical web advice in a number of his Hubs has enlightened me on quite a few subjects.
  8. What kind of Hubber do you typically join the Fan Club of? Why? I usually join the Fan Club of a Hubber who's writing or subject matter engages me or who leaves witty and intelligent posts in the forums.
  9. If you could impart one piece of advice to a new Hubber, what would that be? Be yourself, have fun and don't be afraid to express your opinion in the forums. People may not agree but the great thing about diversity is.....it keeps life interesting!
  10. Tell us something that we'd never guess about you - surprise us! I used to live in a tent without electricity and I'm a huge sports fan. I've been following the Detroit Pistons since I was seven and the Detroit Red Wings since I moved to Canada a decade ago. Needless to say it's a great sports month for me!
