Interview with WeddingConsultant
- Tell us a little about yourself. Hello everyone, my name is Pete although some have called me weddingconsultant, Ed, weddingplanner, wedding singer, wed con and (the most interesting) stalker! I'm currently studying for my Master's degree at Regent University, my wife and I just had a daughter and I haven't had deep sleep since April 24th! I work for my mother-in-law's websites (Christmas cards, wedding invitations (which is why I chose the hubber name weddingconsultant) and birth announcements) with my wife and I'm enjoying every minute of it!
- What brought you to HubPages? A friend suggested Hubpages to me, but I fell in love because of the community, the ease in writing a hub and the fact that hubs do well with search engines and traffic!
- What do you like Hubbing on, with respect to topics? Well, I love to write about things I'm either passionate about or know a good amount about- preferably both! Those topics include: BABY, revver, cats and travel. Pretty soon I might write about weddings (no brainer, right?) and swords (as in medieval, samurai, etc…a new passion of mine).
- What has been your best Hub so far (in your opinion)? Why? This is an easy question- my baby journal hub series! They express the raw, genuine heart of a father expecting a new child.
- What is your favorite Hub by another Hubber? Why? I especially appreciate hubs written to new parents, so to that effect I have appreciated hubs on that topic by blessedmommy, Peter M. Lopez and singingmommy, amongst others. But if I *had* to pick one, I would say 101 ways to tell your wife, "I love you" by blessedmommy is my favorite!
- What is one nice thing about HubPages (the site) that many might not know? This question is getting harder and harder as the people in prior weeks have brought up some great points! Here's what I'll add: did you know that the Hubpages' executive team is actively involved in writing hubs and participating? To find them (complete with outdated pictures!) just click on the "About us" link.
- Name one thing you learned about from another Hubber's Hub that you didn't know about before.I have to confess, although most people already know how, I did not know how to give a cat subcutaneous fluids. Thank you danielmybrother for writing Giving a cat fluids: An illustrated guide. Having said that, I don't think I'll ever have to use that info, but it was still interesting to read about!
- What kind of Hubber do you typically join the Fan Club of? Why? I enjoy joining the fan club of newer hubbers who seem to be serious about becoming part of the hubpages community and contributing good content. I also enjoy joining the fan clubs of those who have already joined mine, but it becomes hard to track unless they write fan mail. I like becoming a fan of newer hubbers because I like encouraging new hubbers to get involved and to offer help in case they need it! Joining a new community like this can be daunting!
- If you could impart one piece of advice to a new Hubber, what would that be? Contrary to what you might think, joining hubpages and writing a hub or two about your business isn't the best way to market yourself, your products, etc. if that's what you want to do. So instead of simply joining and writing a hub about SEO techniques, your ebook, your website/business, etc, engage the community here via the forums, submitting hub requests, commenting on other hubs, etc. This will help your "cause" by leaps and bounds.
- Tell us something that we'd never guess about you - surprise us!I'll offer three:1- At this point in time I don't make money from hubpages' revenue-sharing system. I'm not sure if that will ever change, but right now I get nada, and that's okay with me! 2- Although I think I'm in the hardest, most hectic "transition stage" in my life, I feel completely at peace that I am exactly where the Lord would have me. For my studies I pretty much have to read several hundred pages a week and write about them; I am working a full time, 40+ hour-a-week job; I have a beautiful baby who melts my heart, my wallet and my time, and our finances are pretty tight right now. 3- Because of my job I am able to bring Zoe with me to work!
