A Country's Demise
Democracy helped set the stage for its death
Political parties both gave it their best
The people all voted though they had no real say
For the Government set its own health care and pay
The people said we want to have our wants and our say
But the spending kept on and forced the people to pay
People cried stop the spending or our economy will fail
But the president laughed and took a vacation to Wales
Men banded together to force a budget on him
To stop him from destroying it all from within
But the president said “Don’t listen to them”
“To help save our country we need to spend spend spend spend!”
“Raise the debt limit” he said, “or you’ll bankrupt the vault”
He knew that congress wouldn’t let the county default
And the people all suffered as the economy fell
But congress protected their pay and themselves
Some senators cried your doing it all wrong
We need to tighten our belts to make this country strong
But the President laughed and said: “let the rich men all pay
We’ll increase their taxes and it will all be ok”
Then he sold more of the debt to other country’s abroad
And soon the Nation of freedom was on foreigner’s sod
So the taxes increased and more businesses failed
Unemployment went rampant but the president prevailed
“I know I can do it, I’ll take a great nation down”
And the people within all believe me a clown “
But Allah be praised I’ll accomplish my goal’
And the President smiled and watched the country unfold
Congress yelled we can still save it and make everything right
Elect us and send money; we’ll put an end to this plight
The people replied, we trusted you with our lives
You helped only yourselves while setting this Nations demise
Time’s annals will tell how a great nation fell
How the people were fooled to believe all was well
Where the brave and the free; were once strong and proud.
And how ones they elected helped bring a great nation down
Now where once a land flourished and freedom prevailed
Where families were happy and heroes were hailed
Stands a vast wasteland of hopes and of dreams
Because corruption and greed outweighed peoples needs ©
