a cacophony of Poor Judgments - Poor Policies - Bad Politics

The GOP is still unaware of the 2012 election results.

In their own little private world it is still business as usual for them. They plod onward with their blinders on continuing with their GOP agendas "for the people" (??)

This is just a few Updates on the GOP's Ongoing Agenda for the American People. Because they still believe they 'won' the election of 2012. ???

At least they are acting as if they did. They seem totally oblivious to the messages that the American people are sending them - or they simply just don't care about what the American people want.

Apparently the GOP did not get the memo that they actually lost the election in 2012. Or did they?

Because they have managed to maintain the majority in the House of Representatives they have taken it as a sign to totally ignore the will of the people and continue to do their underhanded business as usual.

The following are only a few examples:

GOP solution - self deportation?

North Caroline "justice"

The following is an email i received today. Read it and weep for what this country is becoming, or has already become:

Dear D.William:

According to the University of North Carolina, seeking justice for assault is "intimidating" your rapist, questioning school policies is "being disruptive" ... and doing both is enough to get you expelled.

That's the fate awaiting Landen Gambill, the college sophomore who faces a disciplinary hearing and possible expulsion for daring to speak out about being raped and joining others in pointing out just how much the administration put the blame on the victims.

Landen's rapist still attends UNC and remains publicly unidentified, yet the woman he attacked is being targeted by the very school supposed to protect her.

UNC is far from the only college that perpetuates rape culture and hosts inefficient sexual assault policies. Help make it one less college to fail its students: Join Landen's fellow students in calling on the administration to drop the hearing against Gambill immediately!

PETITION TO UNC:
You should be using the Gambill case to re-examine your policies on sexual assault, not to target a rape survivor so you can cover up your own negligence. Stop efforts to discipline Landen Gambill for speaking out about her rape today!

Thanks,
-- The folks at Watchdog.net

Continuing with business as usual

#1: A faceless, and tasteless, new policy for North Carolina.

Are we seeing the setting of a new tone for American Justice?? We can only hope not.

There has been a new and quite disgusting turn of events for North Carolina politics over the past few years.

It has been a Democratic run state for over 100 years. {The following is a link to the source of this portion of this hub}: http://www.firearmstalk.com/forums/f146/nc-turns-red-75858/

North Carolina has been taken over by the radical right who now control the Governorship and the legislature. We can only expect to see more people bashing in this country.

The new headlines: Rape Survivor Faces Expulsion for "INTIMIDATING" her Rapist.

Carolina and the New (old) Southern mentality has returned to blame the victim and protect the male perpetrators.

What is next? Shall we start throwing the rape victims in jail for reporting this crime?

Is this country turning into a Muslim mentality where exploitation of women is the norm?

Or should we just stone a woman for speaking out against any male in this country?

The GOP insists that Mr. Obama is a Muslim and not a Christian as he states. But it is not the presidents policies to demean, and attack the women in this country. This is the sole discretion of the G.O.P. / tea party.

#2 Congressional logic:

There was a new survey done of the people of the U.S. regarding the new legislature proposing that a background check be mandatory before anyone is allowed to purchase a firearm in this country. The poll results? 91% voted to enact this bill immediately.

The bill was introduced and our great wise Legislature voted on it:

It was defeated by congress!! Not one single Republican voted yes on this bill!!

They chose to protect the NRA and gun manufacturers' lobbyists instead of the people.

#3 Repetition makes perfect?

Paul Ryan put out his new budget proposal. It is exactly the same as the one he put out last year, and the year before. I guess he figures if he puts it up for vote enough times the rest of congress and the American people will just pass it to get him out of our faces. Apparently he also did not get the memo last year that the GOP was defeated in the election.

#4 GOP logic:

North Carolina passed their proposal to make same sex marriages illegal in N.C. I guess they did not get the memo about states not being allowed to override federal laws regarding equal rights and discrimination.

#5 Arkansas madness:

Arkansas passed a law banning all abortions in their state. Apparently they never got that memo either that states cannot override federal policy.

2/09/2014 Tunisia more advanced than the USA

As reported by "watchdog.net"

This week, Tunisia passed a truly historic constitution widely heralded as a progressive and monumental document.

Here's just some of what these brave elected representatives agreed upon in the face of strong pressure from the more extreme factions of their parties:

  • Guaranteed equality between men and women
  • A constitutional mandate for environmental protection, only the third country in the world to do so
  • A declaration that health care is a human right, with preventative care and treatment for every citizen
  • A democracy with civil laws that respects freedom of religion
  • An established right to due process and protection from torture

In one stroke, Tunisia's become more democratic than many Western countries have been for years.

This is a revolution of democracy and a great victory for human rights — and the more we recognize that, the more Tunisia can shine as an example for the Western and the Arab world!

Knowing when to act

With all this trying to override federal policy, and the current Federal administration remaining silent on those issues, it really boggles the mind when the State of Maine passed legislation that made Marijuana legal and the federal government loudly protested that the state of Maine could not override the federal government.

They certainly got that memo.

It doesn't really matter what the American people want, Congress just does their own thing - and gets away with it.

So, we just shrug our shoulders and say: "oh, well, it is just politics as usual" and our lives go on undaunted - that is, until something they pass that actually affects us personally.

Then let the crabbing begin.

Happy 3rd Birthday

The GOP response to this birthday celebration: Straight from the horses mouth

Post Script:

I just wanted to add this addendum to this hub that seems to be so offensive to everyone, and especially to the censors here on hub pages who feel this is way too controversial to allow Google's ads on it.

It is an email i received today that people should hear instead of only those opposing anything that this President has done, is trying to do, and hopes to accomplish in the remainder of his second term as our President.

This is one of the results of President Obama's 'dangerous' new policies. Read it and weep for this downfall in this country.

Dear (d.william)

Saturday, March 23 is a special day. That's because on March 23 we're celebrating the 3rd birthday of the Affordable Care Act – and you're invited to join in!

But, while we're looking forward to the protections Obamacare will bring – like expanded access to Medicaid for struggling families and protections against denials due to pre-existing conditions – there are some who are still fighting the law.

Some governors are refusing free federal dollars to expand Medicaid coverage in their state. Others are refusing to set up the health insurance marketplaces that would help uninsured workers shop for affordable coverage. And of course, House Republicans are doing their best to repeal the Affordable Care Act through the budget process.

That's why Families USA is hosting a week of online actions as part of the birthday celebration. By "RSVP-ing" for our week of online actions, you're showing your support and sending a strong message to opponents of the law: Move forward with implementation of the Affordable Care Act and stop putting politics before people! Will you join us?

Thanks for all that you do. Hope you can join us for the celebration!

Sincerely,

Justin Kolikof, Online Strategies Manager

More bizarre North Carolina news

Just when you think it could not get any more bizarre, North Carolina manages to surpass itself in ignorance by its Tea Party / GOP politicians:

Thu Oct 24, 2013 at 03:35 PM PDT

Racist from 'Daily Show' segment resigns!

Last night, The Daily Show's Aasif Mandvi introduced the world to Don Yelton, the Republican precinct chairman for North Carolina's Asheville area.

Don Yelton is an unashamed, blatant, in-your-face racist.

Listening to him talk about 'lazy blacks' and how you used to 'have' to 'call them negros' but now they get to say 'nig-er this and nig-er that' but he doesn't get to but it's all good because one of his best friends is black...on national TV mind you...my jaw dropped.

When Mandvi asked if he understood that 'we could hear him' (as in, you do know that you are saying these things out loud...right?), I cheered.

Today, Don Yelton resigned. Good riddance to bad trash. Despicable man.

He did, however, open the door to what is really happening in North Carolina regarding voter suppression. Sure, we all know the real motives behind the new voter ID laws but accusations are never as powerful as admissions. And at a time when McCrory is making it clear that he is not happy that the Attorney General responsible for defending the new measures is 'out' as being very opposed to them himself. Ha!

Things in North Carolina are getting more interesting everyday!

Equal rights equally?? What does that mean.

My president has proven that we do.

I do believe the American People are the only ones that "win" an election.

Every cycle is proof of our greatness as a people.

Voted up and interesting I like it.

I can assure you that is article is NOT a joke.

These excerpts are straight from the current news of today.

If we choose to turn a blind eye to what is really going on in our political arena, and the true intentions of the GOP, we are then part of the problem in this country, certainly NOT part of any kind of solution.

It is not the GOP that needs your blessings it is the people they are hurting while protecting their benefactors: Corporate America.

I am sure it will also please you to note that H.P. has chosen to deny ads being placed on this article because it is politically incorrect to say negative things about the conservatives, or the christians, in their plight to destroy anything and everyone on their path to destruction of our great American 'Freedom'.

I am so sorry you need clarification of what is going on in today's world.

With the GOP again introducing a myriad of legislature, both state and federal, that would take away the rights of women, and promote greater discrimination against a minority group, we need to understand who these people are, and their motivations for turning on women and the gay population without just cause other than their personal ignorance.

You may consider equal rights as being for everyone, but that is simply not true. The equal rights as written in the constitution was not meant to have an exception clause.

So yes there are degrees of equal rights in this country and do not fool yourself into believing that this is not so. We cannot afford to walk through this life with blinders on anymore, and stay silent about how people are being destroyed by a greedy hierarchy and pseudo moralistic society.

I appreciate your taking the time to read and leave your comments.

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. It is refreshing to hear that there are still people left that actually want to learn and understand things above their basic needs.

I always maintain that the more i learn, the more i realize just how much i do not know. Education and the quest for knowledge should never be abandoned for stagnation and the status quo.
