Our world of lies and deceit

We live in our very own "House of Cards" built on lies and deceit. (God creates the beauty - man exploits and destroys it for blind self serving)

"The Ruling Class". Ongoing Conflict: God Creates-Man Destroys

We cling to those lies and the deceits as though they were a life raft carrying us across an infinitely endless sea of time and space; and thus it is so.

Without this "raft" to protect us from the sea of lies and deceit, we would surely perish from their weight. The weight of knowing the true abandonment, desolation and despair that is our true legacy as humans.

So, we attempt to protect our fragility by wrapping ourselves in a shroud of lies, fantasy and a fairy tale existence that gives us a glimmer of hope, and redemption, as a "reward" for this foolish, useless, and empty existence, that we experience here on this isolated planet in an endlessly vast universe.

This planet we live on is less than a single, and highly dissoluble grain of salt in an uncertain existence, in which we try to ignore the fact that any unknown variable could ultimately destroy this planet in the blink of an eye.

What brought about this revelation for me today?

Yesterday our electricity blinked off, and on, four times during the day.

The sky was a clear and a beautiful shade of blue; adorned with white "balls of cotton" clouds, floating by on a soft warm breeze that filled the air with the sweet smells of spring and the promise of another season of sunshine and warmth, bringing back the beauties of nature for yet another year.

Constant dangers afoot

Then, after turning on the computer, the first news article was about how the huge solar electrical storms taking place in our little solar system was simply titled:

A backhand slap from end of solar storm

Just another solar storm, quite insignificant actually, in the vastness of an endless universe.

Just a small reminder of how fragile this planet really is.

But, who even noticed this phenomenon?

It did not actually effect any one of us individually on a noticeably physical scale, or at least not overtly so.

Those that did notice it are the ones who appreciate the delicately balanced environment in which we all exist; and just how vulnerable we are to any number of cosmic dangers that could annihilate this planet at any time.

Somehow all this "insignificance" of a day of solar flares became a major revelation, or realization, of just how awful, mean and nasty the earth's inhabitants have become toward each other over the past several years.

The back handed "slap" on society

We are all subjected to constant subtle manipulation by figures of authority on a daily basis. So much so in commonality, that one hardly notices anymore. We just seem to except it as our inevitable fate.

The Origins of the Art of Manipulation. A Philosophical study.

We are lied to and deceived on a daily basis.

These liars' lies have become an accepted way of life for most of us.

We are lied to by everyone in authority; by governmental, business, and religion..

We lie to ourselves for self preservation. And we lie to our children to shield them from those "awful" bad things in life.

We have built an entire civilization based on lies, deceitfulness, deception and dishonesty, superstition, and fanciful religious magical mysticism.

Then turn around and lie to ourselves about being a "christian nation".

"what fools we mortals be, when first we practice to deceive......" and it becomes an entirely acceptable way of life.

In a presidential election year we see these disturbing new trends in such ugliness never before witnessed in our history. Lies and vulgarity are the new norm in our society. Even more sadly those lies and vulgarity are coming from the "conservative" right that is supposed to be embracing religious morality instead of promoting hatred and negativity toward minorities, women, the gay population, immigrants, non-christian religions, the poor, the homeless, veterans,....the list is endless.

How sad and pathetic that there is such ugliness alive and thriving on such a beautiful and fragile planet. A planet that gives us our very life and existence. A world that greed and self serving will ultimately destroy for the sake of greater corporate (and individual) profits.

We seem to have learned nothing from past mistakes, or from the stark reality of scientific proof that man's folly is destroying the very planet we depend on for survival.

Earth - The Pale Blue Dot.

Intelligent life on planet earth?

There is no discernible "intelligent" life on this planet after all.

Humans do not deserve to live in such a beautiful world; and will ultimately destroy it for the greed and self serving of a few, and this crazy belief that they (we) actually have the "right" to do so. Capitalistic monetary gains now out trump (no pun intended) sanity, logic and humanitarianism.

There will be no significant changes to our every day life styles, as we are so totally caught up in ourselves, to the exclusion of others; and forsaking all logic, until the day of global disaster strikes. Then will humanity wake up - or, as usual, simply blame each other for bringing 'God's wrath' down upon us once again.

It IS always best to blame someone else; that way we do not have to take any personal responsibility for the sorry state of our current mundane existence.

Thanks for more poetic insight. Actually, the reality is that a more powerful solar event destroyed a lot of telegraph equipment and set a lot of fires back in the 1800's. Most people have never heard of it, but it is documented fact. A similar event today would utterly destroy all electrically operated equipment instantly, sending us back to the 1700's in the blink of an eye. After that we will all destroy each other because very few people would be able to get food and water. We are way too dependent on modern technology and take the earth for granted. It is the earth and our labors that keep us alive. The Amish may be the smartest people in America. Most Americans will die without their technology. No working cars, no phones, no way to get food, water stops pumping...what will they do???? Riot and die!

Interesting that you would consider a nation built on religious freedom to be a lie if it is revealed that it is not a Christian Nation, I have never considered America a Christian Nation but a Nation in which the tolerance of all religions is paramount to our freedoms.

You mentioned 'solar storms' is this something you made up, I have never heard of a solar storm? I know about Solar Flares from the Sun is this what you are referring too?

I suspect you have been watching your TV set too much, which is all lies, perhaps you might think of getting your information from something that doesn't instruct you how to think. The masses have been conditioned by the TV for generations on what to think, how to think and what to believe.

interesting Hub as it merely confirms that the conditioning is working, baa, baa!

The term "solar storm" is commonly used to explain a series of solar flares or a continuous eruption on the sun for several minutes or hours (just like a storm on Earth). If you had clicked the link the author provided you would have seen the story on Yahoo News. So, exactly where are we supposed to get our information since all media is lies? And please, don't say church because they spew the most lies of all. Personally, I pray to God for wisdom and understanding as the Bible instructs me to do. I can't say that I am wise, but I do know there is a huge amount of useful information in the media if we have enough sense to sift out the truth. After all, Satan is the "prince of the power of the air," so it's no wonder he uses the air waves to fool so many people. God's true followers can't be deceived by Satan or his media empire. God also uses the media to spread his information. Besides the Bible, what else do we have?

We have to rise above this spate of misinformation and exit our physically comfortable sterile bubbles (cars, homes etc) and start communicating as a race again. This, I see beginning to happen. Get rid of stereotypes and categories. We are living on a very vulnerable speck in this Universe and we, as a race, have existed for the blink of an eye.

The earth will survive long after we are gone.

I often wonder, if and when, we communicate with another race of intelligent beings whether this will be beneficial to us or not. These races almost certainly do exist if you do the mathematics (yes that's maths, Dee!!!) and would probably have to be more advanced than we are. It is said sometimes that the old are very jealous of the young and that scares me!

But let's enjoy the beauty of this planet as it turns on its axis so evocatively described by you, Dee, in one of your paragraphs above.

Your comments are welcomed. And you are correct that we rely too heavily on technology, but unfortunately that is the trend we are heading toward and nothing will stop it, short of a catastrophic event. It certainly would behoove all of us to have some kind of survival training in that event, but we have also become a race of lazy people, and rely totally on modern conveniences.

It is said that "Necessity is the father of invention", so undoubtedly there will be no turning back without that catastrophic event in our lives. Let us hope that day never comes.

thanks for reading and commenting. I am unsure what your reference to the religious comments is. I have nothing but disdain for what religion has become today. It is a business that thrives on promoting hatred and bigotry, sticks its nose in politics where it does not belong, and pays no taxes on their billions of profits they accrue each year. These businesses have little or nothing to do with spirituality any more and are a bane to society.

I watch very little t.v. and have never been an addict to its influences. I am sorry your have never heard of solar storms, they are real and your knowledge appears to be a bit limited on these matters.

your last sentence is a bit childish and speaks volumes about your mental acuity and bias.

Good discussion, but gods along with all religions are all part of some absurd, irrational belief systems - why not expand your rational mind, learn more about nature, causality and reality as it exists objectively?

But there is another issue - it's the art of spinning information to manufacture rational for aggression and war as a cover to pretend the motive is peacemaking ...

Thanks for your response to 'somethingblue's comments. I found them to be amusing and ill informed as most uninformed (misinformed) folks generally are.

Here is an interesting video for you to view, if you have a few moments to spare. It is a greater realistic view of reality than the bible offers.

http://youtu.be/sNDZb0KtJDk

I certainly do believe in a higher power, but not in the biblical sense. The next video will clarify this more:

http://youtu.be/SF6I5VSZVqc

I don't intend to demean anyone's beliefs, but as you stated so eloquently: "...don't say church as they spew the most lies of all..."

"We are lied to and deceived on a daily basis" is not a conjecture, or an opinion, it is a fact of life that even a blind man can see.

Hi Ian. thanks for taking time to read and comment. I guess this was sort of a cynical hub after all. And perhaps i DO watch too much t.v. I wrote this after watching a special on either LinkTV, or FSTV. They are both unbiased public broadcasts and tell it like it really is. It was about the lies, and half truths, that politicians use to discredit their opponents. This kind of hateful speech does nothing to better mankind, it just strengthens the divide that is so evident in our society.

I cannot envision ANY intelligent extra terrestrial race wanting anything to do with the petty ignorance of this planets inhabitants.

Thanks for reading and your profound comments. The article that you linked was an eye opener. A perfect example of how the lies and deceits bombard us on a daily basis. We are unable to differentiate the lies from truths with any certainty at all.

Compound that bombardment from all media with the incessant rantings of the brainwashed bible thumpers and chaos is the only inevitable result.

There is no true verification of anything anywhere except in the minds of the rational thinkers who can logically tell the difference between reality and fairy tales. But being able to ascertain these differences, in itself, does little to correct the chaos.

What a wonderful global society it would be if filled only with rationality. I still dare to hope.

Dave - can you get the BBC where you are? - it's reasonably unbiased and does have some very thought provoking programming.

I have been in the US several times and have seen some US TV - enough said! Tho some PBS stuff was interesting.

What I have never understood is why our politicians cannot work together for the common good - or is that too simple? Destructive politics turns everyone off and then the electoral turnout suffers.

If ET came here I'm very afraid they would farm us!

I can't seem to get caught up on my hub reading. After my long depression over the fire on my property, and getting rid of the virus (trojan) from my PC, i was getting caught up, until last week when i lost my balance and fell over while i was planting sun flower seeds(I laughed at the time, but not laughing now). I fell on my left hand and got a pretty bad and painful sprain of the shoulder. Had a sling til yesterday, and pain pills that made me flakier than usual. So now, i have over 500 emails and even more hubs to read and catch up on. Oh, well, it does keep me out of trouble though.

I do get BBC, but their news is on when i usually watch something else. Link TV and FSTV (free speech t.v.) is like that only they cover all global news and have some fascinating stuff on them. And they are totally unbiased.

No, i have not seen the Headteacher yet, but will visit as soon as i finish here.

And you are right about ET - but as nasty as people are on this planet we probably would not be very tasty either. L.O.L.

I'm sorry I should have clicked on the link, you are right, OK solar storms refer to the storms related to the Sun, for some reason I thought you were talking about in our 'Solar' System my bad.

Yahoo News is a joke and owned by the Corporate Elite News Monoploly that spew out the mainstream news, no I would not ask you to get your news from the church.

What I'm suggesting is using critical thinking when reviewing any stories in the mainstream media and then pay attention to what is not being said, keeping an open mind and looking at these stories from every angle possible . . . everyone has an agenda!

Most often I would suggest getting much of your world news from sources outside America where the perspective isn't slanted, and local news from ordinary everyday people.

This requires some internet maneuvering but once you get the hang of it is simple, learn to trust your heart and soul and not your mind as it demands proof, proof is not necessary when one learns to trust your heart, however it is not easy to learn.

I was wondering what FSTV was so had a look and it looks interesting. I shall have a proper look later.

The BBC website you can find using Google, of course. There is something there called iPlayer which has all the past shows which you can view on demand. I don't know if it will work where you are without something called proxies. You could give it try. Two programmes I would recommend are 'Question Time' and 'The Big Questions'

You poor soul, Dave, I hope the pain has abated and that your shoulder and arm are mobile again. Sun flower seeds - how ironic!!

I hope the Headteacher didn't give you too hard a time!!

Sending you healing wishes.......

I was talking about our solar system. The Solar storms on our sun create these solar flares that in turn create the solar winds that reach beyond the edges of our small solar system.

Your advice about how to view the news is like preaching to the choir. It is correct that everyone has an agenda, but not all agendas are bad or harmful to humanity and society. One has to be able to discern the differences.

Your comment about listening to your heart and soul and not your mind is exactly what i preach against. This is where the gross misunderstandings start, grows and festers into social mishaps as we see today.

The only solution to our current mental dilemma (the mass insanity of religious influences) is to exercise some logical discernment in our (blind faith) that has led us down this terrible road of discrimination, distrust, and hatred toward other human beings. My article on this subject is called:

http://dwilliam.hubpages.com/Irrational+Discrimina...

After you read this one you can comment on my personal need for reality checks.

As i stated above i get my news from LinkTV, FSTV, CNN, MSNBC, BBC and local PBS stations. I sometimes listen to Fox News to see how far to the radical right they are staying. And they really believe they are doing the people a service by airing this bunk filled with lies and half truths, that only make the divide in our society greater and more dangerous. But, this IS their agenda. It serves their purpose, and they do attract all the radicals, religious crack pots, mentally challenged, etc..., their true followers. Minions of evil.

P.S. Did you view the video above: Hell is the creation of the church?

After reading a couple of your hubs, i agree that we do agree on many points. I find very few who agree with most of MY points of view.

You are around the age i was when i decided to de-program my brainwashing from the Roman Catholic Church when i realized that their teachings were in direct conflict with logic and rationality. I am not one to live in a fantasy world, and do not fear my Creator. Instead i have the utmost respect, honor, trust in that Universal Oneness that brought all this about. I see us all as students, in the college of material world, discovering the knowledge that broadens the horizons of the limitations inherent with being a spiritual entity.

I can honestly say, today, that i am completely deprogrammed and feel free to explore all possibilities of the mind. Writing on hubpages has helped in this exercise, and learning (responding to) the negative comments from some of the readers only strengthens my resolve to continue my exploration of self, god, and the universe.

I am no longer influenced by individual 'opinions' or T.V. news, as i have learned to compartmentalize and view their agendas with skepticism.

I am happy to have found a fellow transcendental traveler and seeker of truth. Welcome to hubpages.

No - not a test, Dave.

Some atoms are unstable - hence radioactivity - some have lives of milliseconds. Others like carbon 12 last forever! And the bits that compose atoms (protons and stuff) have lasted from just after the Big Bang.

D'you know what blows my little cranium? - it is this - the light from the furthest KNOWN galaxies in our Universe takes 13.7 thousand million years to get here and light travels at 186000 miles per SECOND................? Huh???

Sorry - if you knew that already but every time I think about it it blows me away all over again!

And some folk believe it's all about a bloke in the Middle East 2000 years ago............

Yes, i did know that, (about the size of the universe) but thank you for adding it to this hub. As i am sure there are many who did not.

And your comment that "...the bloke in the Middle East..." was priceless and makes my point exactly. Again, thanks.

But, humbly have to admit (again) that i did not know about the different kinds of atoms, etc...or at least do not remember being taught about that). I also know only that there are particles smaller than the atom, but not much more detail than that.

It totally befuddles my mind that one man could change the path of history, in retrospect, and become the major rock star of a religious movement. Elevating any human being to status of God, is quite alarming and does show the limited mentality of the human race, n'est-ce pas?

I was speaking of the path of truth because the more I learn the more I want to learn. At first I was appalled when the truth hit me like a ton of bricks but then I saw things in a different light that was liberating.

My goal is to learn to free myself from the conditioning and as I learn and grow my perspective widens and I see the hope that is inherit in all of us.

Our evolution is of the mind, how we communicate, how we perceive. I feel there is only the limits we create for ourselves so when we are able to cast those aside we allow the evolution to proceed unhindered by our own self imposed limitations.

It is uncanny. I read your words and it is as though your are taking them out of my mind and thoughts. Stop that. Actually it is a backhanded compliment.

Anyhow, your first sentence should have included: 'The more i learn, the more i realize just how much i do not know'; and that in itself would enhance the thirst for more knowledge.

But with the acquisition of more knowledge comes the increased awareness that there is little hope left for humanity, after all. So, that knowledge acquired is for personal use only, unless you can learn how to channel it to the brains of others who have the capability to hear the words and comprehend their meanings. When you figure it out, let me know so i can join in on the fun.

And yes the naked truth is always unsettling along with being exhilarating .

Hi Dave,

good to know you are ok again!

"Origins: Fourteen billion years of cosmic evolution" by Neil deGrasse Tyson is a great book on cosmology. It even covers the Periodic Table of all the elements / atoms ... but does not explain how nature holds each element to act according to its own quality and identity.

What makes Fe act like iron but Cu act like copper, O act like oxygen but H like Hydrogen ... and all the chemical interactions which follow from these qualities and identities!

It's quite clear to me now, all life on earth is a product of nature - just like our universe, the ones before this one and all the ones yet to come ... and nature doesn't require gods or man made religions for any of it!

Thankyou, Dave.

The first video there was part of a series of programmes which aired over here some time ago. I was riveted by them and also by Michio Kaku, who is a splendid enthusiatic presenter, who knows his stuff. Up until I'd heard about brane theory I thought it was mind-blowing enough just to try to contemplate the size of our own Universe. Then brane theory comes along to say that there may be an infinite number of other Universes each with their own laws of physics!!!??? I give up - brain just exploded!

Climate change is explored a lot in the second video. As a scientist, I'm not convinced that it's all the fault of the human race. If you look back at climatic records (I know they're limited) you'll see that the climate runs in cycles eg in the mid-nineteenth century the climate was very cold and you could go skating on the Thames in London during the winter! So we have to watch what we're being fed in the media as you know very well!

Hi again - pest here!

This I sent to Cal as an explanation of string theory some time ago - thought you might like to read it - apologies if you know all about it already!

'You know that an atom is about 0.0000000001m long. String theory says that atoms are made of vibrating strings which are 0.00000000000000000001m long - so very, very small. Now the theory will only work if we have, I think, 11 dimensions (we live in 4 dimensions - l, h, w and time - it's called spacetime).

So far, so good.

Imagine you were a 2 dimensional being and could only live on a piece of flat paper. On that paper there is a line - A to B - how do you get from A to B? - you travel the line and it takes time - but if you were a ‘superbeing’ and lived in 3 dimensions you could fold the paper and place A on B and get from A to B immediately!

So if you extend the idea to us in our 4 dimensions and imagine superbeings who lived in say 7 dimensions then they could fold our space for us and we should be able to go anywhere immediately. So exoplanets here we come!

The big problem is that to be able to do it and get into higher dimensions you have to be as small as a string so until we find a way of doing that we're stuck - for that theory anyway!!

Often I imagine much more advanced civilisations than ours zooming all around us in higher dimensions and we know NOTHING about it! When we figure out how to travel at faster-than-light (or in higher dimensions) speed then I believe we'll be contacted by other civilisations - at the moment we're not advanced enough 'to join the club' and they don't bother with us.'

I am somewhat familiar with the 'theories' being presented. I watch everything i can on T.V. that has to do with the Universe, space/time theories, new discoveries, etc...

Although interesting, they (the theories) are way beyond the current human capabilities of being able to prove them fact or fiction. They seem like something from a science fiction movie, but then so did our technology of today, several years ago.

I do hope that when this physical dimension becomes advanced enough that somehow, my (our) "awareness" will be able to "see" it come to pass. This is dependent, of course, on the hope that our 'being' (soul) (essence) does actually live on after our departure from this material world.

I imagine that there are many civilizations more advanced than ours. And i cannot imagine that any one of those civilizations would allow the stupidity and ignorance of earthlings to spread their poisonous greed, ignorance and hatred to anywhere, off this planet.

Humans can't get along with each other, so one can only imagine the destruction this race could do to other advanced societies.

We are probably viewed as nothing more than pesky insects that are currently confined and not a problem, as yet.

When we are able to put ourselves (whether in fact or imagination) into the universe and view Earth from that perspective, it is truly painfully disturbing to see how mankind exploits itself for material gains. This continued behavior is far beyond my comprehension. We are an entire planet that worships greed, self serving, and material gains above all else. Mass madness.

PS what does BGTC stand for? I am not up to date on this new way of speaking. (using initials)

I often think of the human race as being 'very young' at present and being the optimist that I am, when it 'gets older' will become compassionate, empathetic and caring. Maybe I live in a fairy land.

Of course, you're right, at present there are so many inequalities, interferencies, power struggles etc etc ocurring on this planet and horrible, horrible incidents. It is people like us who have to attempt to address this.

Souls, afterlife, god etc - I have no proof - therefore I keep an open mind.

I probably made up BGTC - it means 'Be Good Take Care'!

So BGTC and HYAPF!

I guess you ARE more optimistic than i am when it comes to humanity ever obtaining civility, compassion and/or empathy toward one another.

So, now i can only guess what HYAPF means.?

I mean get with the program guys waiting for your news on the Discovery Channel is for wannabes and folks incapable of thinking for themselves!

Well said, D, as the only disharmonious thing in the entire universe is man!

Any one who believes that humans have actually visited other dimensions, heard the voice of God, seen the face of God, or that everything in their books of worship are valid truths, need more than just a little reality check.

And stop with the abbreviations. If you have something profound to add use words, not abbreviations.

"We cling to those lies and the deceits as though they were a life raft carrying us across an infinitely endless sea of time and space; and thus it is so."

This is the story of the vast majority of poeple, in one form or another we build our alternate reality around what we wish were the truth because the truth is often not very appealing to us!

It's human nature to want to justify the way we live or what we believe, so we tend to gather facts to support that our behavior and beliefs. Naturally, most of us would prefer to see ourselves in the best possible light, so we gather our facts accordingly.

All this is true but the real question is what are the facts of life? What is the truth, can the truth always be gotten by the use of logic alone? Is thier a higher wisdom than the wisdom of men?

Thanks for reading and your comments. There is a truth that most people are loathe to face. It can be found in this video:

Do not be afraid to view it with an open mind. Then you can tell me why i should believe ANYTHING i am told by anyone else.
