AMERICA. . . WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?

AMERICA. . . . .WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?

It’s becoming almost impossible to recognize our country.

Land of the brave?.

Public decency is a thing of the past. Folks show up in markets with body parts showing and they urinate and defecate in public, from occupiers to football players.

What on earth are these people thinking? They are in a public store with a child, shopping and the woman's entire rear is showing. Absolutely no explanation for this.

Taking a very famous quote from Kennedy and screwing it around because he wants things for free. What are these people thinking?

People of all ages demonstrate and riot because they want the government to give them things, homes, schooling and food for free. Millions of people in this country feel they are entitled to free everything. Their attitude is the world owes us a living and the USA taxpayers that work should pay our pensions and give us free housing, medical care and anything else we need, because we are special.

Homosexuals are so proud of being homosexual, they ride on floats down public streets in their underwear under a bunch of balloons, or they strap on leather and walk around somewhat naked.

The Attorney General of the USA instigates a program in which guns are shipped to drug gangs in Mexico, resulting in deaths of our border guards and he is allowed to remain in his position.

Foreigners are encouraged to pour into our country without screening. They have no skills, no education, have not been screened for diseases and some of them come with the intention of killing us and sometimes the US government pays their airfare. Despite the fact they are forming gangs and committing crimes across our country, the present administration welcomes them by the thousands.

One wonders why these people are not arrested for indecency. Our officials don't seem to care that hoards of disgusting people are contaminating the cities.

Officials responsible for the safety and health of their cities allow degenerates to set up camps in local parks, where they spread disease, rape, and kill and do so with no regard for city permits or laws by which other citizens must abide.

Entire segments of society are allowed to kneel down in the middle of a busy street, block traffic, stop commerce and break the law, while this same group parks illegally creating dangerous traffic bottlenecks, preventing law abiding citizens from getting to work. Mayor Bloomberg actually tells his police force not to ticket these taxi drivers that are snarling up traffic in downtown NY.

Public officials take off their clothes and email photos of their naked bodies to young women. Coaches set up foundations for young children then abuse those little kids most vulnerable.

Is this why America was founded?

Our elected officials in Congress are getting inside information for their investments and becoming richer by the day, while regular folks are losing their retirements, homes and jobs. Our public officials are laughing all the way to the bank as they destroy the economy.

Little children, handicapped folks and old women are molested and searched at the airport. Airline travel has become a nightmare, a humiliating, degrading experience. Are we being tested to see just how far they can go? How much will Americans endure before they really fight back?

It’s time to stop this takeover of our country.

I know, I know I know, the President is entitled to vacation time, relaxation from all his hard work.

Taking 17 days off right now to vacation in Hawaii added to the extravagant, very costly vacations he and the first lady have endulged in, just somehow rubs me the wrong way. People are suffering, and the Obama's go on vacation, taking hundreds of their closest friends with them, sometimes racking up l/2 million dollar vacation bills.

Just saying, timing is everything.

I haven't noticed anybody lately defecating or urinating in public. But I have noticed a lot of unemployed people begging on street corners or offering to work for food. You fail to mention that unemployment is somewhere between 9 and 15%, depending on how you count it, our roads and bridges are in disrepair, public schools are being displaced by private, for profit charter schools, we are in the eleventh year of a seemingly endless war in Afghanistan, the rich are getting richer and the poor and middle class are going backwards. In my opinion, you are worrying about the wrong things.

OK. I was focusing on and am concerned about the coarsening of American Society. (I don't watch a lot of football, but the last time I watched a game, one of the players was urinating on the sidelines, blown up big and ugly on TV.)

I believe this coarsening of society breeds other problems, and goes hand in hand with the entitlement group of people that we see occupying city parks. A strong leader in the White House would go to the Rose Garden before he goes on vacation and ask that these defecating, free loaders go home and get a job or enroll in one of the community schools and get some education.

As far as unemployment a strong leader could reverse this within months if that was the desire of the leadership, but it is NOT. By denigrating businesses, by pitting people against people, by instigating hundreds and hundreds of environmental requirements, Obama has squelched employment & frightened people so much they are beginning to hoard food and stock up on guns.

A good, decent strong leader could stop all this, but Obama is on the golf coarse or vacationing or campaigning, or traveling the world bashing our country and bowing to

some of the most evil people on earth, the Arabs.

A strong leader would not cave to environmental interests to get their votes but would drill baby drill, and run pipeline and do everything possible to put America back to work.

As far as political and economical issues, we are totally imploding and on the fringe of a complete breakdown, and we have the Obama administration to thank for that. Obama and his total lack of leadership, his dishonesty, his cronyism, his funneling money to labor unions and banks so they can return it to his campaign coffers, his funneling of money to Green entities who it turns out are big supporters of his, his appointing all kinds of czars that are avowed communists, socialists and America bashers and then allowing them to actually make policy.

His disrespect and alienation of Israel our only long time friend in the middle east, his waltzing us into 4 more wars without taking it to Congress for a vote, his siding with the rebels of Egypt, Libya etc, when these very rebels were busy decapitating citizens of the country including children that were just living their lives, but happened to be on the route has contributed to the sorry state we are in.

Obamas support of these Muslims who everyone knew were going to take over the country as the terrorist group the Muslim Brotherhood, his importation of hundreds of thousands of Muslim Somalis, who are criminals and allowing them to run loose in the country raping and killing innocent people, his deliberate and purposeful efforts to strip this country of its freedom and finally his overwhelming desire to absolutely destroy America is bringing on all our problems.

This by a man that cannot produce a birth certificate or a valid social security card.

He needs to go.

Lizzee - I'm not at all surprised by the comment you received from Mr. Deeds. He is of the group who will defend the actions, or lack of actions, of this administration to the bitter end.

It is reported that some individuals quit their jobs to join the OWS movement. I would assume with the high level of unemployment that is killing this country the employers had no problem filling these vacancies. He also mentioned public schools being replaced by private schools as being a bad thing, because of course it involves profit. Now with the current public school system turning out thousands of graduates who can't read, write, or do simple math, if I had school age children they would most certainly not attend a public school. On the last check our education level in this country has sunk to #23 in the world ranking. This is inexcusable. Mr. Deeds needs to look at results a put his hatred of capitalism and profits aside just a little bit.

We are losing important civil rights daily, but gaining some disgusting rights in the process. We can now occupy public parks and demonstrate disgusting and unhealthy behavior with the blessing of those like Mayor Bloomberg.

Perhaps when our leader who is worshiped by Mr. Deeds and many others comes back from this vacation, he will be ready to go to work. He might take a hard look at the unemployment numbers and get proactive on this issue. Or he might call the members of the so called Super Committee into his office and tell them failure is not an option. But then I am probably dreaming.

mslizzee,

As I struggle taking the Housefire Project to the next level, doubt sets in from time to time with my closest friend and co-founder. This is human nature. We don't have the bucks going in to put the Project on the national scene, and the task is daunting. It can be tempting to lower our goals .. narrow the stroke. Won't happen.

I'll do what ever I have to do, work as hard as I have to. In the end, I'll get up one more time than I get knocked down, and I'll accomplish my goal. With God behind me I can not fail.

Over a long period of time Americans have slowly had their expectations reduced. We have reached a point to where we expect the very worst from the very people we vote into office. This is the core of every crissis we face.

Twenty-five short years ago, smoking was considered fashionable, even sexy. Smokers were free to smoke every where, even on airplanes. Now smokers are looked upon as being dirty and not worthy of the same freedoms of a non smoker. Now I don't smoke, and the fairness of this isn't the issue here. The issue is this. Special interest and the media, aided by our government, ganged up and changed how an entire nation looks at something. That's exactly how I plan on giving America hope by raising the level of expectations. Team A has 535 people on it. Team B? Three hundred million. Once team B wakes up and realizes that they deserve excellence, not the sewage we've given, a heart felt and right on hub like this won't need to be written.

Keep planting these oh so important seeds my friend. Pray for the Housefire Project, and project positivity, and belief in the American people. I honestly believe the sleeping giant is starting to wake up, and will need direction.

Up and awesome!

thanks Old Pool. I'm pretty good at smelling Liberals, so I fired back with things he might find more meaningful than my unhappiness over the demise of the character of America. I feel it so strongly I am actually sad a lot of the time. I wake up and wonder where is the America that I knew and grew up in.

We didn't have a TV, we rationed food, we learned to work non stop. I raised 3 boys by myself (my husband left), and I mean totally alone, no family at all, from the time they were 3, 5, 8, put them through school, college, private music school, took them on vacations, had a nice home, fed them well and so forth, and I never, ever took one dime in welfare or assitance of any kind. I would not of thought of that.

Gosh my dad's family came here from Europe and settled in the San Joaquin valley and began farming there over l00 years ago. They were so proud to be Americans.

As kids we played outside all the time, cops and robbers, Cowboys an Indians, we swam in the creek, rode our bikes. We were taught good manners and respect for our elders.

It's all gone now.

It just really saddens me.

I started this hub with a picture of the way I always thought America would be, then contrasted it with what we now see and I didn't even use the worst of the photographs that I have.

Thanks no pants. I think your project is admirable but daunting. Would it weaken your resolve and your ethics to merge with one of the conservative groups? Like Freedom Connector, Tea Party. There are so many, we all need to get together so we can make the changes in leadership that are needed. We need huge voting block.

The assault on American values and freedom is daily. It's like getting up in the morning and being greeted with a slap across the face. I'm getting so I'm afraid to turn on the news. The latest slap was Obama saying he needed four more years. He simply will not quit until he destroys us. Our namby pamby senators just sit around sucking their thumbs and cashing their pay checks. They could stop this man by insisting he produce a legitimate birth certificate, which he has not done and cannot.

Talk about the Manchurian candidate, or the Trojan horse.

Here's something cool. One of the Tea Party groups is flying a banner over the RoseBowl game on New Years that says "Impeach Obama", or something cool like that. It will be huge and flying behind a little airplane. I just love that. Millions of people at the bowl and at home will see it.

Thanks for your comments,

Where to start??? For beginners, I think both you, mslizzee and Old Poolman ought to submerge yourself in the history of the U.S. through the period encompassed by the 1920s through the 1930s. If you really studied this era from a socio-economic perspective, you might not have such a steel-trap, iron-clad, one-sided view of current America.

People don't have jobs because there aren't any that provide enough financial return to keep body and mind together let alone "dream" for a better life... well, that's not true, there are some, but not enough. In the darkest hour of the Great American Recession (2007 to the present) I volunteered at a food bank and I was surprised to find out that most of the people there of employment age (there were a lot of elderly people who came to supplement whatever meager pension with which they had been rewarded) had jobs -- many of them worked at big American corporations (not a few of them worked at Walmart, for example). The food bank started at 7:00 a.m. They would get there early so that they could get in line, leaving time enough to get to there "jobs" at 9:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m., depending on whom they worked for. The point is that they were paid so little at their jobs that they didn't earn enough to cover all of their expenses and they relied on food donations to help out.

People are misinformed (especially if they watch Fox "News" with any regularity or are one of Rush Limbaugh's "Ditto-heads). If you really want to know what is going on, take the time to educate yourself. Here is a reading list to help you get started...

'Nickel and Dimed' by Barbara Ehrenreich

'The Working Poor: Invisible in America' by David Shipler

'Gig: Americans Talk about their Jobs' by John Bowe

'The Walmart Effect: How the World's Most Powerful Company Really Works and How it is Changing the American Economy' by Charles Fishman

'Ten Questions: A Sociological Perspective' by Joel Charon

The forgoing are but a few that will help enlighten you and aid in your understanding of why America is where it is today.

Here are some facts. The income gap between the Rich and the Poor is expanding at an ever-quickening pace. The top 10% of the population control 2/3 of the wealth in the country. The middle class (which I suspect counts both of you in its numbers) is vanishing at an ever-increasing rate -- the average wage of the bottom 90% of Americans is under $32,000.00 per year; the top 1%, over a million dollars per year. "Outsourcing" has been supplanted by "Automation" as the cause of job reduction in America. This list of depressing facts is nigh on endless; I am sure, however, that you get the idea.

There are much bigger things to worry about mslizzee and Old Poolman than people camping in public parks, or defecation in the streets. You need to gain some real awareness.

Lizzee, I didn't mean to pick on Mr. Deeds. He rightfully has his own opinions about most things that differ greatly from mine. What he views as important may well be a minor irritation to me and others, but it is very important to him. Mr. Deeds fails to even mention the quality of education in this country, only the fact that Private Schools make a profit. No mention at all in regards to the quality of education given to students in these facilities as compared to public schools. The thing about bridges comes straight from the Obama Jobs Program. He is correct, we have bridges that are falling apart. What he doesn't address is who is going to pay for fixing them and were is the money going to come from? If the farmers were willing to give up being paid for NOT growing crops we could possibly use that money to fix bridges.

I have great admiration for people like yourself that struggled and battled your way through life, but still didn't give up morality and decency, and expect the same of others. Other cultures including ancient Indian tribes had cultures defining what was considered acceptable behavior, and severe penalties for those who broke the rules. We have now lost our culture, and no longer even bother with penalties for those displaying unacceptable behavior. It is sad to see this go away, but it has.

Entitlements, destroying the family, making people dependent upon government is their soup du jour, and apparently you are liking the taste.

The two most important things, the ones on top of your priority list are bridges and charter schools? If too many people feel the way you do, weeze in trouble bro. Business don't work that way.

You havn't seen people urinating in public? Well, they are. Infact, if you're a home owner in San Francisco, and you look out your front window right now, there's a good chance you'll see a bum pissing in your front yard. Yeah, that's what I said .. a bum. That word is offensive to you? Sorry. I meant to say wino .. drug addict .. I know what's out there on the street. I have someone who is breaking my heart by choosing this way of life. Don't you are anyone else try and tell me about the plight of these poor folks. There ARE some sad stories out there, but by in large, these people don't like responsibility. People who feel they are elivated thinkers are quite simply nothing more than arm chair problem solvers. Come on bro. Drop the intellectual crap, and look at the world as it is, not how it should be. Be a part of the solution, not the problem, then maybe things CAN become what they should be.

The Tea party is focused on the present, mainly the election. Once the election is over, and even if it goes our way, we'll still be left with the on going problem of corruption in the halls of congress. The same old snake will keep raising it's head. I'm personally working to affect this election, but it's not the focus of the Project. We have Tea Party members in our organization as well as some moderate liberals. We all share in the desire to have honest hard working leadership, and a return of checks and balances working the way it was intended to work.

Do you have a clue as to how a "strong leader could reverse unemployment withing months"? The Tea Party Republicans in Congress have opposed just about everything that President Obama has proposed to reduce unemployment. And they have failed to propose anything other than cutting taxes for the richest 1% of Americans.

Of course, you are free to worry about anything you wish. But the fact that you are worrying about them doesn't make them important.

gadafi,

I'm a businessman. I've been eating what I kill most of my adult life. I know how to make a profit, and I know how to go bankrupt. I'm studying the Great Depression, and my mother grew up in it. My grand parents got by because of their willingness to work hard at jobs way beneath their skill level. Don't come in here with your "Children, children where do I begin" crap. Make sure you know the back ground of the folks you're dealing with. The two people you are talking down to are men who have weathered the storms and run successful business that keep folks employeed.

Yes, the middle class is disappearing. The welfare croud drive newer cars, buy their kids $200.00 pairs of sneakers, and eat better than hard working middle class people. Abusers are draining the bank, and the people who have worked hard and paid in can't get help. I know a seventy eight year old woman who has to sell candy in the heat of the Houston summer in order to get by, as an illegal pulls up to the curb in her Beamer filled with kids wearing the most expensive clothes Mike and I can afford to buy em. Obama wants to raise taxes on us, cut into our bottom line then cry if we don't hire. Poor old lady goes on selling candy, and the poor continue living large. I don't listen to Fox, Limbaugh, or anyone else. Quit putting all your faith in economic geeks who don't have a clue how to make it in the real world. Come on man. Get it straight or sing it to the other geeks.

What you are seeing is the effect of the heavy shift toward socialism in this country with the advent of a majority liberal Congress starting in 2007 and the Obama Administration following in 2008. Every aspect of the American society has gone downhill as if on a roller coaster since that time. Out of control spending, indiscriminate spending, circumventing the Constitution, creating class warfare and envy, laundering taxpayer money for campaign purposes, ignoring border security and literally doing everything possible to surpress the creation of jobs in the marketplace is the track record which has accumulated since 2008. Another four years of this will destroy America completely. WB

As a kid, I had to eat a lot of beans, but Mom always made sure that vitamin was there beside my plate. My clothes came from Sears, and she had to buy em large and let me grow into them. But she worked hard, the old man never payed a dime of child support, and she never spoke ill of him for it. She let me grow and form my own opinions of him as a father. That takes a lot of class considering the pressure she was under. She never took a penny of welfare, but we were clean, and we were proud. I also learned to work for what I wanted. She raised me to do the right thing and not to run from a challenge. She was a good woman, stronger than any two men, and she'll always be my hero. If I was half the man she raised, I'd be twice the man I am. You are this kind of woman, and I admire you more than you could ever know.

Ralph, Are you sure the Tea Party is the only thing keeping Obama from solving the unemployment problems? So far I have not even heard one good idea coming from this administration regarding jobs. Perhaps we need another Super Committee to help with this problem like they did with the budget cuts.

You apparently know a great deal about labor relations and unemployment. As an employer in the State of Arizona I just received a notice that my payroll company deducted $226.39 from my account to repay the State for money they had to borrow to pay extended unemployment benefits. Now none of these unemployed had worked for me. When I do try to hire someone, most refuse the job "until their unemployment benefits run out", or ask to be "paid under the table" so they can continue to collect unemployment.

Now I need you to explain to me how this is fair. I pay unemployment insurance on every employee for the first $9000 they earn every year. That will soon be raised to the first $15,000.

I don't really think fixing bridges is going to get us out of this problem. How about drilling for oil or building pipelines? You think that might put some people to work?

Hang in there Ralph and tell us how it is, but just try being an employer for awhile and you may just change your tune.

WRT your question on your unemployment compensation tax I suggest you talk to your idiot governor and Tea Party legislature.

"Are you sure the Tea Party is the only thing keeping Obama from solving the unemployment problems?"

Well, Mitch McConnell made it pretty clear by his statement a year ago and by his subsequent actions that he is ready to run the ship of state on the rocks if that's what it takes to make sure Obama isn't re-elected. And the little slimeball, Eric Cantor, has been doing his part to prevent an economic recovery as majority leader in the House of Representatives.

just an average guy 5 years ago

I do not know if any of the things you mentioned are any worse today than in the past. They probably are to some extent, but that is because our enhanced communications system give these people a greater audience. A few years ago, carrying a camera all day was awkward. Now it is part of your phone.

Things that were shocking at a local level are now elevated to the national level because of 24 hour news coverage, the internet, You Tube and so on.

There has always been outbreaks of outrageous behavior. I am less bothered by a woman showing her rear end that I was by the the Watts Riots in the 1960s, the Kent State shooting, the assassinations of the 1960s, our involvement in Vietnam and other similar events.

Are the people you describe rude and crude, for the most part they are. Foreign immigrants do pose a problem, in that they have to leave their homes, work illegally, often for slave wages with the only solution being offered is to build a fence.

My parents lived through the Great Depression. I lived through the nuclear scare, where we had school drills and hid under our desks--like that would do a lot of good. I did not serve in Vietnam because i had a high lottery number (and with my eyesight, you really do not want to put a gun in my hand). We had atrocities in Vietnam and we had them in Iraq. Ignore the thrill seekers, the publicity seekers and those who have no personal values and concentrate on what the nation can do to make things better for all.

Really weird how America has transformed into what it is today.

For the last fifty years, we have had liberalism taught in our schools and universities, so no, I'm not at all surprised.

We were once the most prosperous and mighty nation on Earth, but, when we have liars telling us that the capitalism that made that prosperity possible doesn't work anymore, then no, I'm not surprised.

Go back and read carefully what the leftists here are saying, and you'll find that they are blaming the proven success of capitalism, while promoting the same failing parasitical socialism that has Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and Ireland on the verge of collapse.

Use your heads, people. Capitalism made the US the most prosperous, and successful nation on Earth, so why the hell are you listening to socialists like Ralph Deeds promote a system that has always failed and that has the US on the verge of bankruptcy?

For the record, I think the picture of the woman without any pants was airbrushed to make it look that way. In other words, I am not sure it is legitimate. I am not blaming the original poster, but this kind of stuff gets put on the internet and everyone accepts it as fact. I use to be a newspaper reporter and have seen a lot of touched up pictures. I think that one got a good shot of Photoshop before being posted.

What is happening to America really strikes a cord with all of us.

Mr. Deeds, for decades the method of operation of the left has been to demonize good people. We can see it happening right now with Herman Cain. Liberals have no fear when it comes to destroying, lying about, eviscerating and humiliating decent people. It’s how they win elections. They toss out names, just as you have done, then they destroy those folks with lies. It’s all they have. It’s all you have.

Mr. Obama can’t get his programs past the Democrats or Republicans, because they stink.

Mr. Lefebvre: Don’t you realize that the moral decline of this country is destroying it? We cannot possibly survive with the level of corruption and depravity that is escalating. It has brought down many a nation and it is bringing ours down now.

Average Guy: I can assure you my parent’s generation would not have tolerated blatant displays of exhibitionism and depravity. NO way. This country can only survive if there is moral leadership at the top and we have none right now.

For decades the ACLU has been promoting liberal ideas, running around the country trying to destroy Christianity, promoting promiscuous sex, defending immorality, suing for people for flying the flag, or for a verse from the bible, or a statue of Jesus. Liberals are determined to bring this country down. Where will they go when we end up like Cuba, Russia, Middle East?

Justan: You may be right. I put the photo in my own editing system and blew it up and I can’t see any alteration, but I believe at least I hope she had little shorts on or something. Anyway I added another picture for you at the end here, that is not airbrushed. Here is a woman that has allowed herself to become so heavy she has to ride around in a cart, and can’t find a shirt that fits. What do you want to bet she is on food stamps?

Will, who wears nude colored skin tight shorts? I've never seen any shorts like that, but that sort of misses the point. She shouln't wear shorts on at all. Women need to wear clothes that are flattering and if they have a giant flabby ass, and an extreme case of cellalite, they should wear long pants,or a large garbage bag, or a moo moo, hehehehehe

The latest National Dfwnse Autorization Act fir 2012 was rushed thru the Senate and had some interesting sneaky amendments.

1. Sodomy and bestiality are now legal I'n the military.

2. The military can now arrest and hold any American called a "terrorist" by POTUSA indefinitely and without a trial.

Passed 93-7. Guess the Senate did not gave time to read the bill.

Or,if they did, we're screwed.

msli,

I did not read all the comments you received on your hub, with the exception of wizard, I can relate to his comments of politics. Reguarding the nude thing: I don't think everyone considers nudity disgracful, i.e. movies, nudes that belong to a social group that don't force themselves on another. All who are nude at some time do not think of themselves in a negative way. My first impression was you were looking for shameful scenes to write, and negating others who may have decent reasoning. How do we know if your photo's were made to appear in a negative way. People that have a tendency to look for shame may see the same in a mirror. I'm not suggesting your perceptions fit in the mirror, I'm just expressing my opinion: some movies with nudity may appear obscene and not worth watching while others fit the bill in a positive way, 'this is life'.

"Public nudity and urination are pretty far down on my list of things to worry about."

And that's the problem. Americans used to take great pride in their country, were fiercely proud of being American. But now, liberals like you, whimsy, and Obama have no pride at all (except for homosexuals, parading their perversions on Main Street!) in the US, and spend most of your time wailing and apologizing for our success. Therefore, public urination and public nudity mean nothing to the likes of you.

You and your ilk are exactly what is wrong with our country, because the crap you believe is being taught in our liberal indoctrination center schools.

Utter nonsense. America is up to its eyeballs in debt because the out-of-control big spenders in our out-of-control big government put us there!

Higher taxes just means even more spending and even more debt.

Two out of every three dollars spent by big government goes to social programs, and now, we have the largest social program in the history of mankind looming over our heads...Obamacare!

We already know that the promise it would not increase the debt by a thin dime was the lie of all lies. It will drive us over the cliff and into bankruptcy, like Greece, Spain, Ireland, Italy, and Portugal.

When that happens, watch for new tyrants to rise from the ashes and offer 'hope'. That's exactly how Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, and Tojo came to power, setting off the worst war in history.

Listen to the socialists at your peril. We need to return to prosperity, and that means we need to shrink government, not grow it.

Opening line to this freaks profile .. "Just a gleam of lust in my parents' eyes brought me to this sad & screwy little planet."

Good stuff genius. Your attitude towards the world is sad, but of course it reflects your attitude towards others. You've been with the Hub Pages over four months and you've written two poorly put together hubs. I don't put you down because of that. I suck at writting too, but you spend all your Hub time going to people's hub sites and insulting everyone. You wrote these hubs in order to have an account, then use that account to spew your hate. The Hub is a place to write and respond. You produce nothing and therefore have no right to harass those who do. There is a way of disagreeing with people without insulting them. You assign no value to others, and you reap what you sew. Now get out of here once and for all. If you get that attitude straightened out, take another stabb at it. You are irrelivant at this point.

What personal attack? This is an attack on what he believes and promotes, not on him personally:

"Capitalism made the US the most prosperous, and successful nation on Earth, so why the hell are you listening to socialists like Ralph Deeds promote a system that has always failed and that has the US on the verge of bankruptcy?"

This, however IS a personal attack, and a very childish one at that:

Wizz,

I'm going to say this then you can do what you do. These silly arguements are fun, but waste too much time.

I have never thrown the first punch in my life. You can believe this or not, but I been in probably a hundred fights, and I've lost only one. Straight up. I never liked to fight, but they used to find me somehow. I play for keeps if I'm pushed into a corner, that will never change, so it's time to walk away. I treat people with respect until they disrespect me or someone close to me. I don't really know what's in your heart. I can't see your face, or hear your voice. I can only size you up by looking at your profile, and read your written words. I've tried to make peace with you before only to have you come back with your hate thing all over again. You are negative, and I don't mix well with negative people. You're intitled to your thoughts, but you have a respomsibility to show others the respect you would like to have from them.

These are tough times we're in. People are afraid and angry. The two sides don't trust one another, and emotions have a hair trigger. We all have to try harder, including me. I'm personally going to try to stay out of this kind of stuff. I'll get sucked in once in a while, but I don't have the time to play these games and should smarter. We do this and our country moves a little faster towards the cliff while we're at it.

But your petty behaviors belie your stated beliefs in America. You condone and even champion economic injustice, intolerance and prejudice, and finally, ruthless corporate greed that fosters congressional corruption.

.Hey Wizard:

Just this past week legislation was presented to take the Bible out of Walter Reed hospital, as well as all reference to Christianity, while at the same time laws preventing bestiality and sodomy in the military were removed. This is moral corruption and it comes from the top of the administration now in charge of our country. Is this the intolerance of which you speak?

This past week the past Speaker of the House actually threatened a Republican candidate for president with exposing confidential records concerning his ethics charges that she was privy to as a committee member of the ethics committee. Is this the prejudice of which you speak?

Just this past week we learned that many of the members of the Senate, Democrats of course have been getting inside information on stock deals and making bundles of money from that insider info, which of course is illegal for the rest of us. Is this the corruption and greed of which you speak?

When the democrat/liberals finally succeed in granting themselves the power to pick you up off the street and stick you in jail without trial because of something you said, when they gain the power to take away all weapons, when they close down talk radio and take control of the internet, when they put troops on the street to regulate your movements, are you going to keep talking about tolerance, prejudice, injustice? That’s what’s coming buddy.

mslizzee,

He lives is a make believe world that never existed. He throws out what he sees as problems without solutions. His whole gig consists of saying things like "Corporations are greedy and evil." He accuses everyone of being blind and stupid, and that's all you've got with this puke. We know corporations are greedy and evil. We also know that cancer kills people, but we don't run around saying "cancer sucks" hoping that it will put an end to cancer. We have to have arrive at a starting place to begin cleaning up corporate greed. We start by cleaning up the politics that provides the fertile ground for that greed to grow. It irritates me that I'm actually working very hard to put together a strong organization in order to force our leaders to give us an honest day's work, and guys like him run around in the forums and comments section trying to make a name for themselves. The guy has written two stinking hubs. I he prefers spending his time in other people's hubs stirring people up. In other words, we do the hard work of building a hub so he can come in free of charge and use it as a platform for his stupid crap. We make the mistake of responding to the guy. It's what he loves. This is maybe the only case I could justify blocking a guy. Having opposing views is one thing, but he's nothing more than a name caller and has no intellectual significance what so ever. He's never engaged in an intellectual debate, because he's ill equipped, and has no intention intellectually locking horns. I've fallen for his games and have wasted way too much time with the little man. No more. I have never blocked anyone in my life, and almost everything I write is political, but this guy ain't getting any more of my time, and I hope no one elses.

I think this article is right on. Still I think you have to start at the top and do what is right for everyone and level the playing field to include everyone. This two party argument based on some kind of faith in one of them has no base at all in terms of making the right changes in fixing our country. We got to where we are today because of both parties and yes most of us see no real ability to influence any out come or change in the status quote. There is not one policy in place that does not stink of personal agendas, vested personal interest and money or corruption. The answers might be political but I do not think that Political parties have any answers until they hold all things to the same standard. A fair tax system with no incentives, subsidies, right offs or anything for that matter would be a good example of achieving a true balance and equality in such an argument. It alone would make a huge difference in terms of revenue and balancing a deficit where six trillion dollars was used to simply bail out the people who own everything to begin with.

Oh brother, Pants, you're such a drama queen!

For the hell of it, I'll share my favorite story here with anyone who'll take an interest . . . and in the hope of expressing what I feel about the values that allow people to escape the kind of conditioning of the "them/us" mentality of the right-wing . . . and why I get so indignant at the unconscious projections of intolerance, bias and bigotry that so many of you seem clueless about . . .

The Story . . .

A young man in India decided to leave his village for Calcutta with the hopes of making his way in the world. The night before his departure, he experienced an extremely vivid dream.

The following morning, on the road leading out of his village to the city, he spotted a Sannyasin coming his way. (Americans might describe a Sannyasan as a sophisticated hobo. In India, Sannyasi are endearingly respected for their strength of spirit and their courage to leave their roots and live by their wits. Often they are people who, having fulfilled their familial obligations, wander the country seeing the sky and stars as the roof of their true home and everyone under it as their family.)

Anyway, this young man engages the Sannyasan and states, “Excuse me sir, but the Lord God, Vishnu told me in a dream last night that I would meet you today!” The Sannyasan, without surprise in his demeanor, asked, “What else did Lord Vishnu tell you?” The young man replied, “He also told me that you would give me the most precious gift that anyone could ever receive!”

Quizzically, the Sannyasan thought a bit; then, as if suddenly understanding, searched his rucksack and pulled out a raw diamond the size of a golfball. The young villager was overwhelmed because he realized that this gift meant certain success in Calcutta.

The Sannyasan, unhesitating, said, “Here take it; I found it in a wooded glade not far from here, under a large tree.” The youth accepted the gift as graciously as it was given. The Sannyasan then asked the youth where he might find a meal and lodging in the village and the young man suggested his parents’ house.

They departed and the young traveler headed off to make his way in the big city.

After a mile or so, he spotted a wooded glade with a large tree that seemed to be exactly what had been described to him earlier. He decided to sit down and contemplate what had just transpired.

After a while, he arose and eagerly ran back to his village in search of the Sannyasan. The Sannyasan greeted the youth with surprise and asked if anything was wrong. The young man said most humbly, “Yes there is sir; would you give me another gift?”

Without hesitating again, the Sannyasan replied, “Of course!”

The youth then responded: “I don't want to seem ungrateful, but would you take back this diamond and give me the wealth that has allowed you to give away this stone so easily?”

That story points to genuine liberation from all of the ideologies that infect our egos and destroys the truth and compassion in all of us.

San X. Our government cannot be succesful unless good men with good intentions and high moral character are at the helm.

We don't have that now except for a very few candidates that were elected in 2008.

That is exactly why the country is falling apart. Barney Frank and Chris Dodd were behind the program to give mortgages to people that couldn't possibly pay for their homes. They didn't instigate that program because of compassion, they did it to get more votes and stay in power and continue to enrich themselves. This lending policy ripped the country apart as billions and billions of mortgages were in default and the paper was so worthless the banks couldn't do anything with it but try to snooker other lending institutions into buying it.

That is what is behind most legislation being passed by both Democrats and Republicans. They are in it to maintain power and enrich themselves.

Until we fill the chambers of Congress with decent men who have gone there to help the country we will continue to flounder and fail.

Right now the leader of the liars and the most corrupt is the president. He talks the talk while shoveling billions of dollars to his friends at banks and Wall street, knowing they will support his run for president. He is a man without morals and has surrounded himself with crooks and liars.

Don't forget to take your bias, bigotry & resentments, Lizzee—you wouldn't want to be without them.

Wizard - You appear to be a very unhappy and bitter individual. How about sharing some of the issues that are making you think and feel this way, and what specifically you would change to make the world better.

Bias is a two way street, and you seem to very biased when it comes to your own beliefs.

Unless you just get your kicks from making accusations and stirring up crap on others hubs, give us something factual that we can debate. Who knows, you could end up changing someone else's opinion on a subject that is important to you. The way you are doing it now accomplishes nothing and makes you sound more like a whiny child than someone who really cares about his fellow man and this country.

This was a suggestion, not a put down, so take it or leave it.

Poolman, I'm neither bitter nor unhappy and I know full well that everyone has bias. I may very well appear the misanthrope—someone who hates or scorns mankind. But I'm not, however—more accurately, I'm someone who is profoundly disappointed in mankind—but I don't know if there is a convenient pejorative label for that that you would like to call me.

It's just that I have a growing disgust for intolerant tribal hypocrites who gather around the digital campfires to spew out their ideological bile without regard for their own ignorant projections and introjections.

Some of the same kind of outlandish comments around here make me wonder if we are witnessing the beginnings of another era of intolerance brought about by the same kind of economic collapse that gave Europe Fascism.

Can we count on the nice people we see in "Walmart" or Whole Foods to adhere to civilized behavior? I seem to come to the same conclusion: civilized behavior is a veneer, under which is the capacity for tribal behavior that would have no mercy for anyone not resembling a loyal fellow tribesman.

So when I witness these kinds of behaviors, I try to jujitsu my outrage and indignation into an over-the-top satirical cartoon that confronts the simplistic BS of the budding reactionary junior-fascists who are all too unconscious of their own self-indulgent crap.

Wizard Of Whimsy - Thanks for coming back, and I view this as an outstanding comment. I have found that getting to know someone with a different view of the world than I have often teaches me some things I have never thought of. I think what you just wrote would make for a very interesting hub you might consider writing. You would at least get some interesting feedback, and just might gain some respect from several of the writers.

It was nice to meet the real you.

"It's just that I have a growing disgust for intolerant tribal hypocrites who gather around the digital campfires to spew out their ideological bile without regard for their own ignorant projections and introjections."

Totally meaningless drivel.

What exactly is bothering you, in plain English?

State your case.

To no one in particular,

Greed is a part of mankind. We are fallen, and nothing can rid us of greed. I'ts JUST MY OPINION, but I feel it's a waste of time if all you do is condem greed. When you can't get rid of something, you have to work to control it. The old sayin " You can catch more flies with honey than you can vinager" comes to mind. You can't insult greed away. You have to put in some work. I've never doubted Wizzs' frustration with humanity. I just can't get with his style of selling it. If someone wants me to listen to them, they can't do it with a bat. I carry a 9mm. They just have to talk to me, and show respect. Most of you who know me, know I listen to people who see things differently than me closer than listen to those see things the same. I just won't be disrespected by anyone.

It's best that I just leave Wizz to himself. I waste too much his time, my time, and everyone elses, and accomplish nothing. In fact, it moves everyone concerned backwards.

"Thanks Poolman, but I've said too much already."

On the contrary, you write quite a lot, but you don't really say much of anything. That was my point.

Why not drop all the mumbo-jumbo and state your case in plain, clear English?

Okay Will.

Life is a journey from the illusions of certainty to the certainty of illusions.

How's that, clear enough?

These programs are all part of greater programs created to enrich those who our a part of such systems. Retired Politicians who become directors in education with the highest pay who have no idea about it at all, to those who profit from real estate deals and beyond. The conflict of interest and desire for money to run for office and personal greed insures that we will always be in debt and forever paying there bills as tax payers.

"Okay Will.

And then you wonder why you are ignored?

Wizard Of Whimsy profile image

Wizard Of Whimsy 5 years ago from The Sapphire City

LOL! I don't care if I'm 'ignored" . . . or "respected"—nor do I care what you think, because it's just not import to me. Understanding what others think, however, is very important to me. Like Eric Hoffer, for instance . . .

"The patriotic fervor of a population is not always in direct proportion to its well -being and the fair dealing of its government. Nationalist pride, like other variants of pride, can be a substitute for self respect. Hence the paradox that when government policies or historical accidents make the attainment and maintenance of individual self-respect difficult, the nationalist spirit of the people becomes more ardent and extreme. The unattainability of individual self-respect is not the least factor behind the chauvinism of the populace in Fascist and Communist regimes.

Both Faith and Terror are instruments for the elimination of individual self-respect. Terror crushes the autonomy of self-respect, while Faith obtains its more or less voluntary surrender. In both cases the result of the elimination of individual autonomy is—automatism. Both Faith and Terror reduce the human entity to a formula that can be manipulated at will.

Man is indeed a fantastic creature; and nothing about him is so fantastic as the alchemy of his crushed soul which transmutes shame and weakness into pride and faith."

SanXuary 5 years ago

Wow, I came up with what you just said but actually found it in a Bible. Its not faith that makes people sheep but leaders with Earthly agendas that force them to be sheep by removing the free will we were given to save our own souls. Modern faith embraces Earthly Ideals by being no different then the people they condemn. The only difference is a club membership where you agree to be a sheep. Now lets donate some money and elect the next wolf and invite him over for dinner while the Shepherds turn there backs.

I have a problem when someone spends a lot of time talking about a problem when they don't have a solution. It's not productive BUT! I write songs about I girl I loved and lost. I write songs about the dark sides of my life. I just published a poem called "Making The Cut." It's written about a time in my life when I mutilated myself as a means of dealing with things I was ill equipted to handle. They are negative, and offer no solutions. It's a way of ridding myself of the ghosts that chased me around, let people know they're not the only ones living with ghosts, and hopefully do it artistically.

I'm not sure where I'm going here, but I think that just like I write a song about tradegy, Wizz is painting a picture of the tradegy that he sees in our world. He just happens to be using a political coments section as a canvass. How do I say this? .. I love art, and I love the study of tradegy. I dig going to an art gallary, but I think it's like Da Vinci is setting up shop in my man cave during the Super Bowl. Wrong time wrong place. Wiz is definitly a deep thinker, and he reads some very cool stuff that makes you dig deep. Like any artist, he get's frustrated when some one look at one of his great paintings and thinks it a snow cone stand. I get it.

So I have a problem. Do I apologize to Di Vinci for blowing up on him? After all it IS the man cave. Or .. Maybe I just make him a place in the cave over there in the corner where he's not blocking the TV. Then when the games over, I go admire his work. I've made my decision and this is the path I'm taking. Wizz, you can paint in my man caves, and I'll straighten anyone out who tries to screw with you while you're painting. Please, just don't block the TV. Your really are quite an artist, but it'll be an aquired taste. I'm willing to work on it.

Wizard: I'm a plain talker.

You spend too much time with a dictionary and famous quotes and bull shit philosophy.

Trying to impress people with convoluted sentences and phrasing and nonsensical psychology is boring and a waste of time.

This is a beautiful world, populated by a lot of very fine people and we live in a magnificent country USA HOO RAH.

All we need to do is straighten out the leaders. They’ve gone astray.

Get real dude. Get a job. Raise some kids. Dig some ditches. Work in the trenches. Get your hands dirty.

@mslizzee - greetings, just discovered you, and plan to check out some more of yours,

but, why don't you tell us how you REALLY feel? :)

I agree completely about, in your terms, "the coarsening" of our society, I too believe it is the root the problem that is causing all the other problems.

Good read.

Sorry if my Karma ran over your Dogma, Lizzee. As a writer, however, you really should invest in a dictionary and books that go beyond: "See Jane run!"

I like the article a lot. It was short and straight to the point. But I'm afraid that comment you made to Wizard was a little harsh, no? I made two hubs so far and I made plans on the next ones. PLease read my hubs. I have a funny one and a serious one. The most recent one is about the economy now and how I lived my youth in a great country until 9-11. It's really sad that we are becoming a mindless little country with no income and our dollar is worth sh*t. BTW, can we put curses is our hubs? Just asking. Thanks for ur great Hub. Bye.
