AMERICAN DOUBLE-STANDARD

Source

By: Wayne Brown

The latest liberal, attack dog to be unleashed in the upcoming election is non-other than the President’s favorite senatorial chore-boy, Harry Reid. Reid coming out with accusations against anyone is about like being accused of murder by Charlie Manson. Hey Harry, while you are throwing the questions around demanding proof of claims that you make, how about proving to us that you are not a crook. That would certainly be a feat beyond human capability. How do we know whether Reid paid any taxes in the past ten years…has he offered his returns just to shore up his credibility?

In actuality, Reid knows exactly what he is doing in calling for Romney to prove that he has paid taxes over the past 10 years. He would like nothing better than to have Romney fall for such idiocy and produce ten years of taxes so they could be tossed into the drive-by media’s dog pen to be twisted and torn like fresh, raw, meat. Reid is praying that emotion will overcome rationale and drive Romney to take such an action out of desperation. Of course, the media is right in there with Harry pushing the point. I wonder where they were (as well as Harry) when we had all those questions about Obama, none of which by the way, had anything to do with paying taxes but questions of a far more serious nature…was he really a citizen of the USA and qualified to run for president? How was it that he managed to become a “foreign student” in college yet be a citizen by birth when he ran for President. Silly little questions that have no bearing upon a man who is obviously considered a “messiah” in some twisted circles.

We can go back many moons and see that producing income tax returns for more than two years would be a very rare occurrence for presidential candidates. Most candidates for the presidency only supply one or two years and that is done on a totally voluntary basis with no requirement to produce anything. But along comes Harry Reid, that “trusted democratic leader” so admired in the Senate making accusations and suddenly Romney is a crook in the eyes of many. We now live in a country where far too many are willing to convict on the testimony of a man who by all that is sane should have been sent to mow grass at the Nevada State Prison decades ago. Such an accusation regarding Romney’s taxes would normally be below the dignity of the White House and appears to even meet that standard for the Obama White House, which is a real rarity. It’s dirty work and Harry is the best man for the job.

It is such a shame that we live in a world where politicians can coach a portion of the population to hate the wealth simply on the basis of their success. If we do the same thing on the basis of skin color, we are referred to as “racist” and hung out to the ridicule of the people. But there is no label for those who are outwardly bigoted toward those who have attained success in life. There seems to be far too many people who subscribe to the statement, “Well, I have not attained that level of success so whatever he did to get there must be illegal or immoral”. We save the health of our own self-esteem with positions established by such jaded eyes. The president understands that concept well with his vast background in “community organizing” or “disorganizing” as the description more appropriately goes. It all plays well to his tune of “class-envy” and “divisive politics”. Far too many of us buy into it not stopping to think for a moment and realize that a house divided cannot stand. The president could care less; unity is not his thing. He simply wants his time in office and he will do or have someone like Harry Reid say anything to get it. That is apparent and transparent…one of the few clear aspects of his administration to date.

Now, more than at any other time in the history of this nation, the population needs to come together and find effective ways to address our mounting problems as a people. This administration has shown that it has no interest in solving those issues as it has squandered $5 trillion dollars in just over three years with little to show for it except a mounting national debt and a stalled economy with stagnant unemployment figures. In fact, if this administration has its way, the spending will continue even on a grander scale with the revenue coming out of essential programs such as a the military and the level of borrowing continuing to rise higher and higher for each dollar spent. It will all be done in the name of “not going back” when in reality, “back there” was never as bad as where we are and where are headed today as a nation. This president has blindfolded us and taken the nation on a roller-coaster ride filled with far more downs than ups. In light of where we are today after three years of this administration, one could might have done better running the country with a cup of dice.

So the president continues to ramble around the country on a gas-guzzling Boeing 747 talking about energy conservation while spending money right and left just to make the appearance of his concern, or he is riding around in a Canadian-built, tour bus talking about jobs in America. But by unleashing “Harry the Hound”, he can create enough distraction such that he does not have to defend his miserable record in his first term or justify it to anyone and the press lets him get away with it for fear that they will be banned from the next hand-holding stanza of “Kumbaya”. The whole thing actually works more times than not which is unusual for anything crafted by the Obama White House.

Just this week, Obama has been out on the road critiquing Romney for having a tax plan to put into place. Obama is flipping around the label, “Romney Hood” to insinuate that Romney intends to rob from the poor to help the rich. How hypocritical can Obama be in light of the fact that he keeps referring to “my plan” for this and “my plan” for that and that is all of the detail that one ever gets. No one has a clue what his plan is about anything other this to make it an emergency that we have to act on right now without due consideration or forethought that we might be jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. Obama’s planning book is nothing more than a pile of empty pages with “spend, spend, spend,” and “tax, tax, tax,” scrawled on each one. Of course, he cannot talk about such plans in detail as people might decide they don’t care for the direction. Then, he can’t talk about his performance or his record in his first term either, so all that is left is name-calling and accusation to distract any discussion of such issues.

The same crowd who labeled the “birthers” as off-bubble are now demanding proof in terms of Romney’s tax returns at the suggestion of Reid. Pelosi has chimed in with Reid to carry that water. Those who questioned Obama’s legal qualification to be president were cast aside so that we could move on with life because Nancy Pelosi checked his credentials…”Sorry Charlie, the tuna queen has no credibility here”. She needs to get back to running her canned-tuna sweatshops in American Samoa.

Romney would be well-advised to not fall for Reid’s temptation in the public market. It reeks of a defensive posture and lacks vision and leadership. It carries the message, “Here is a man easily swayed by accusation…do we really need him to be president?” Of course, if he does not cave, then that position is served up as “living proof” that he indeed did not pay taxes as Reid so claims. Both sides of the fence are bad for Romney. It is time for him to take an offensive posture and throw down the gauntlet on Obama’s record and keep the focus on that subject. Unfortunately, the media will not allow it as they so graciously will with Obama. No doubt, there is a double standard and one only has to look and listen to realize it.

It was the Chicago Thugs' mud factory that wanted those returns so they could be mined for attack ads like the ones they're now cranking out twice a week. Reid's comments were what in logic is called argumentum ad ingorantium. Exactly the same argument applies, with exactly the same kind of justification, to Obama's college records. Essentially the reasoning goes that what A says is true just because he said it, unless B can disprove it.

Logical fallacies are means of lying in discourse. Reid is a professional, and that's one of his favorites. He's used it often before now.

Excellent Hub, Wayne -- and I've been on Reid's case for a long time -- he reminds me of "Sneaky Snake" --for a fact, he and Pelosi teamed up make for a huge nightmare -- and there they are! Best/Sis

The fastest way to shut Reid and the rest of the fools up is to demand that Obama unseal his college records. He will never do it, never. He will also stop hammering Romney about his taxes. I will never understand how Obama has gotten away with being so secretive. I suppose he was betting that the American people were too stupid to demand he answer some questions. So far he's been right. Your hub is excellent and voted up, interesting, useful and awesome. I just wish a democrat with even half a brain would read it and learn something.

The reason the lame stream media failed to vet BHO is that they are staffed by leftist liberals and have, in fact, become the propaganda arm of the Liberal Progressive Movement and the Democrat Party. They are complicit in creating the media image of BHO that helped him get elected.

Jayfort, like every other professional class, journalists talk with one another all the time, but with people not members of the club only as required for their insider activity. Their stories are written to impress other media people and meet their criteria, not us or ours. That the industry shifted in focus and staffing from the old Republican business establishment to the new Democratic liberal establishment in the 1930s is a characteristic that is self-perpetuating. When the US national state shifts again to another new order, as it always has, the media will follow. Its ability to generate revenues and gain access depends on it, and so for the most part it will reflect the establishment du jour, show bias toward its interests, emphasize its version of the correct reading of current issues, curry its favor, and take its campaign money. So it has been since the rise of mass media in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and so it will remain.

Yes, in the US 80% of the media serves as the propaganda arm of the liberal establishment and the Democratic Party. Challengers to the status quo will never overcome that problem, so they should stop bemoaning it and treat it as a fact of political life, developing other ways of getting out their message.

Reformists should be using the Internet, direct contact, and grass roots activity more than they do. They will never have a cooperative media, so they have to build alternatives. I think they have been slow to realize that. They still lag far behind the establishment's campaign organizations in doing it.

How to I explain yet another denial by yet another avowedly liberal press that the press is liberal? I don't bother anymore. I just get a good guffaw out of it.

There is a reason for the growth of Internet blogging and alternative media... the 4th Estate/Media/Journalism is no longer serving the public by exposing the government but is in fact, a representative of one faction OF the government.

There's an old maxim in leadership: In the absence of formal leadership, informal leaders arise. This is also true in other parts of life...to include journalism.

Well I suppose, in order counter the allegations against him, Romney could just allege and accuse something right back. I suppose that is how things work.

Wars, Divorces and politics. The spiral of escalation is rampant in all three. All three are less about what good they will do and more about what damage they can cause.

The way I see it is, If I had to show more than 5 years of taxes just to buy a house then the guy running for President of the Unites States should more than 5 years of taxes. Hell I am for showing all your taxes over your lifetime, when running for the highest office.

Romney can do the GOP and the american people a favor and show his damn taxes for more than one year he submitted. Obama whatever he will get his just do, but the GOP should not let Romeny off the hook. I mean do we hate OBAMA so much that we are willing to let a guy slide by not showing the people he works for his taxes? If we were going to make OBAMA show his birth certificate spend millions on it then you better believe I believe Romney should show more than a year of taxes.

This makes me not want to trust Romney and I am Teetering on rather or not he will get my vote. I will wait for the debates to decided. As an independent thinking conservative think Romney should make Harry Reid look like an ASS by "PUTTING UP OR SHUT UP". We should demand he show more than a year of taxes. WHAT THE HELL IS ROMNEY HIDING? Please let's put this question to rest. ROMNEY SHOW US THAT OBAMA AND THE LIBERALS HAVE NO BASIS FOR THE CLAIMS. The ball is in Romney's Court

Wayne you are spot on here, and I see these attacks only second hand via on line videos from MSNBC, ABC, CBS and Finally Fox, sitting alone on the teeter totter, I hold little faith in Fox other than it is the beacon of how unjust what we see and hear, I choose to take my news from a Black Harlem Preacher who I ran across in the early part of 2008, he stood up and preached a message to any who would listen, "DO NOT elect obama the long legged mac daddy as a candidate, wake up white people! He will drive you back to the fields of Mississippi!" he was deemed a cook, a whack job, liar, Can you smell the fields of Mississippi? I can! I listened to the Guy on Fox with the blond hair, he was a waste of hot air! I tune in to Bill Whittle, He speaks on a show called "After Burner" he like you Mr Brown is spot on in his analysis as is the Reverend James Manning, a Man who lives and preaches in the Bronx Of NYC that I mentioned, I urge one and all to listen to these people, I get my facts from Media you WILL NOT hear on a television and it is presented, "DON'T Take MY word" fact check it your self! It was in obamas 3 books pre-primary what he stood for and what he would do, seems 56% didn't care they either voted party or the whites voted as racist people thinking this would fix the racial problem once and for all, it didn't even scratch the paint on racism, obama is not and never will be Martin Luther King a man who impressed me to no end, Bobby Kennedy another man murdered by his own security team and there are appeals being filed right now to get Sirhan Sirhan acquitted of the shooting as his Charter Arms 38 has been revealed as unfired, possibly unloaded at the time and the bullets that killed Bobby were military 9mm. When will Americans take a minute and go internet and find News they can use, I know that no one heard about the Bobby Kennedy details being released and the lie that was perpetrated on America in his death! His own brother Ted who murdered a girl friend by drowning her walked scott free and America smiled and looked away.

Right now the Senate is locked 2 votes shy of ratifying the UN-Peace Treaty that is aimed at circumventing the Constitution and the 2ND amendment to disarm America, they are betting on it, they have stacks of 100s of thousands of 3 to 4 body plastic caskets for mass burial, they say in case of a catastrophic event! Like killing with NATO troops who will do beach landings and as we did every night in Iraq kick doors in in the dark of night and kill every one inside if there was a gun present. Think hard think deep, we are in trouble here, make no mistake about it. It is bigger than obama sadly, it's a money and power grab and every one of us will be called to rise to the occasion or bow to the new king. Here is 6 minutes and 3 seconds of your time, I urge you to check all the links that appear in the ending when this one is done.

Wayne I apologize for going on, it is just that you lit my fire on a subject I donated body parts to, imagined threats that really were not there like WWI and WWII, and we killed Iraq as we idlely allowed Iran to enter into the nuclear power club, The game is in play and being a son of God I don't care, I'm ready to go, I will not be enslaved,

@EricDierker...Amen to that...very little substance on the issues that we should be talking about which runs to Obama's favor as time ticks off the clock. Thanks much. WB

@Rasman1...The basis for asking you for five years of income tax is to prove that you consistently work and can pay for the home that you want to buy...not to be used as a tool to attack you in the public domain. Romney cannot win on this issue regardless of which way he goes but I truly believe that he will lose more on the conservative side if he caves in and does it than not. Romney is a rich man...there is no disputing that fact. Do we need to know how rich he is in order to qualify him for the office...I don't think so. The same crowd that wants to bell this cat is the same one that fights voter identification documents tooth and nail. The whole design of this accusation is to create mistrust in Romney's base while we continue to be in the dark as to the true citizenship or how it portrayed it of the current officeholder. All one has to do is look at Obama's record of what he has done versus what he has said in the past three years to realize this is not a man to be trusted with four quarters and a dime. Romney has to get the focus back on the issues...the exact place that Obama does not want them because he has nothing to fight with but lies, lies, and more lies. His wife has taken 16 vacations in the past three plus years costing the taxpayers over four million dollars and he has the audacity to joke in his speech about the need for a salary for the First Lady...hell, she's getting paid better than he is! That little joke is nothing but his pandering to the female vote on the insinuation that he recognizes inequality and hints at maybe fixing it....it is all a facade from the front door back. From a conservative perspective, this election is about rid the White House of this president much more so that it is about Romney being the best man for the job. On his worst day, Romney will never come close to this guy as no other president in history can match his numbers for spending, waste, and trampling on the Constitution...that, by itself, should be enough to send America running in a different direction. Maybe if we, as a public, had paid more attention, we might have noticed that Obama was surrounded by communists, socialists, and Marxists along with a lot of bottom-feeders out of Chicago...but that was not important to us in 2008. What a shame. Thanks much. WB

@50 Caliber....No problem, Dusty. The podium is yours for the asking! LOL! At least you are trying to sort through the muck and get to the truth without the claptrap offered by the media...that is far more than most Americans will do. The shame of it all is that a given crowd has assigned Obama a messiah-like image to which not even the truth will stick. Hopefully that will change between now and November. Thanks much! WB

It baffles me to no end that a Senator could stand up in the Senate and make an accusation based on a rumor that bubbled past his ear. Senators should have the presence of mind to know that evidence of not filing or paying taxes or other form of tax dodging is something that should be turned over to federal or IRS investigators, and resolved by them. It IS a serious charge. The fact that he’s treating something this serious as a mere fingerpointing tactic indicates to me that he is not capable of handling the job. He should be reprimanded by the Senate as his conduct only serves to further the poor image of elected representatives.

Wayne and again the GOP talking points hold no water. As for vacations the Obama's paid with personal funds. That is besides the point how angry were you when preceding President spent tax payers dollars. Where was the outrage?

So I take it you don't believe that a presidential candidate should show more than a year of taxes. Here we definitely disagree. It is like a birth certificate trumps rather a presidential candidate paid taxes or not. This is why the GOP is turning me off. Are you kidding me.

I hear ya on the GOP talking points but that is all there is. It is all general blame Obama for everything. Why doesn't the GOP take responsibility for their role in this slow recovering economy.

Wayne are you also suggesting that a sitting president and the first lady should never travel with security detail. I thought even if a President and his family go to the store to get a soda it cost tax payers hundreds of thousands of dollars. Will you call on Romney to pay for his own security detail? Cause my understanding of history is that ALL Presidents spend tax payer dollars no matter what they do.

Are you also suggesting that a sitting president should fly on a commercial flight cause of the cost to fly a President anywhere is expensive.

I do not believe your number 16 is accurate. This is the Problem with the GOP from an independent point of view. I say beat Obama on merit but to make up stuff is a low that I cannot stomach. Just like the ad about the woman that died. I pretty much puked in my mouth when I saw it. I felt the same for the ad from Romney lying about the welfare thing.

I personally have not seen any Marxist Policies coming out of the white house if you know of any please direct me to where i can read for myself.

I am for voter identification. Yet there is no proof that there is a major problem in America. In FACT the numbers I saw where over the last ten years .7 case per state was recorded as voter fraud. So where is this epidemic? The FACT is that the Republican National Lawyers Association found In the states with higher convictions of improper voting, most involved voters improperly filling out registration forms, vote buying or a person with a felony conviction attempting to vote. Vote buying occurs when a voter is paid or offered money for their vote.

Neither of these issues would be prevented by state photo ID requirement. While the RNLA data shows 17 cases of non-citizen voting convictions over 10 years in Florida and one in both Alaska and Illinois, this hardly justifies the requirement of proof of citizenship requirement.

The GOP has mislead people when it comes to voter fraud. Where's the epidemic that warrants voter id laws? I believe that since these laws are in republican lead battle ground states the GOP is trying to suppress voting. It would better if these laws came about not in an election season. Looks real bad from my perspective.

@FitnezzJim...You are correct....this Congress since 2007 has no decorum or interest in doing their jobs.

@Rasman1...The only reason the GOP talking points are not holding water is they are not being presented....they are sitting on their hands waiting for the convention to make the nomination official. As for the count on the vacations, that number came from an investigation conducted by Lou Dobbs who is pretty reliable on most things. As for those costs....that figure quotes is only for the official aspects of the vacation, it does not include incidentals and it was not reimbursed. It is not reimbursed with any president but I do not remember Laura Bush going on 16 vacations in 3 years. It is not the "marxist policies yet" but will be if the direction continues. The Republicans cannot accomplish anything with the economy because they do not have the votes to get it to law. Obama just wants a bigger checkbook and thus will load any agreement he makes with them with more spending just as he did on the agreement he put in place with Boehner and then broke at the last minute by adding a demand for an additional $400 billion dollars in spending. He then turned around and blamed the Republicans for dumping the deal. This guy is a trainwreck with an administration chocked full of socialist and communist. It amazes me who his "friends" just happen to be. Between his unleashing of the EPA and his favoritism toward George Soros, the American coal industry is headed down the tubes and Soros & Co will be selling the rest to China to run their coal plants. There is an agenda here and nothing about it is good...that is only the mask that hides its ugly face. With regard to voting...the only voting the GOP is attempting to surpress is that of non-citizens and dead people and maybe a few felonys....everyone should want that stopped. Thanks much. By the way, I included a link on Lou Dobbs below. WB

@Charles James....I would not hang my hat on the sharp cookie aspect, Charles. George Soros, for his own special socialist interest basically bought the election out from under the Clintons. Obama just happen to have two traits necessary for that process....he was a black man which allowed the race card to be played at every turn and he was willing to do the biding of Soros in this order....invest taxpayer dollars in South American oil operations; gut the American coal industry to the point that the eastern assets will quickly be for sale at a few cents on the dollar and Soros through his investments can lap it up and sell it to China just like he plans to sell the crude oil out of South America; and finally, break America's back financially so that it is so doomed that it will fall to the same fate as the European countries. Not many politicians are willing to sell their soul to that degree especially to a man like Soros but Obama has no qualms about it. Given enough money, one can make anyone look impressive. That is the problem in the country....too few people look below the surface of the pretty water. Thanks much. WB

@fpherj48....The things which have gone on and continue to go on in this administration are nothing more than a stepped up version of the communist goals of 1963. That is the part that strikes fear in my heart about this president. He has no value of our republic, our constitution, or our appreciation of individual success. His goal is to do away with all of that and convince everyone who can vote that he intends to achieve equality by creating a world where everyone shares equally...nothing more than utopian hogwash that is easily saleable after one has created an environment of class envy and hatred toward those who have achieved anything in life. Any educated person who believes that the only way a person can be successful is by depriving others is really in a bad place. With Obama in power, the poor will only get poorer because eventually he will kill the engine that sustains them now...the productivity of the American taxpayer. Thanks much! WB

Lou Dobbs is hardly a creditable source. He too hates Obama and will spin things to make him look bad. You are better off siting non partisan reports. So anything Lou Dobbs say is suspect at best.

If I remember correctly it was the republicans that walked away from the deal lead by Eric Cantor. I have not seen an socialist policies out of the White House. Wayne can you tell me which ones they are?

Your claims of coal is unfounded to say the least. Now I understand alot of what you say is your opinion but opinions should be based in fact.

As for the voting your statement holds no water as well cause there is no epidemic of non-citizens voting that is a bold face lie. There is no evidence that supports that claim. Unless you have info that is to the contrary. Look even Pennsylvania themselves said they had no evidence of voter fraud to warrant voter id laws. If there is any fraud it would be with absentee ballots. Voter Id can't stop that.

I am not sure I follow you on the communist thing. So you are saying the administration is pushing a communist agenda, along with marxism that makes no sense. Marxism and communism are 2 different things how can Obama be doing both. You gotta make up your mind.

I guess after reading your hub and your comments it seems that your opinion is not based in fact. I was hoping to get some concrete information about your claims and you come back with Lou Dobbs.

I am unsure who Obama has deprived. It would be interesting for you to clarify your point. Sounds like a bunch of crazy rhetoric to me with no basis in fact. I don't want to defend Obama but you make it hard n to not too when you have no FACTS to back your claims.

See this is why the GOP is turning people off accept for the Obama haters. I prefer facts not rhetoric. I believe conservatives can beat Obama on the merits but not on making stuff up. It is a sad state to see the GOP in.

My last example would be Andrea Saul. Wow I could not believe the backlash she got for telling the truth about healthcare but the GOP does not want the truth . Over the last 3 years they have ran a campaign of misinformation and it will bite them hard. The GOP should stick to facts so Obama can be beat easily. If I told you that I will do any thing in power to ensure you cannot do your job and I implement this plan how do you get your job done.

As an Independent this is what I see. It is very disappointing. I believe in the 1861 Republican Idea and for me the party has forgotten it's roots.

I just wonder what will happen when Wayne's descendants are serfs to the Kochs, etc.

There would hopefully be some sort of resistance movement by then that they'd be able to join. Hopefully, it doesn't come to that though. But the next few years may tell the tale on that. . .

The tax records are not important to determine whether Romney should be president. What Romney did in the 1990s is history, what can he do for the country today is the issue.

We know what Obama can and can't do, it is in his public records both as Senator, and as President.

He spent his last two years as senator campaigning for the presidency. He spent this year campaigning for his reelection to the presidency.

If anyone can find the accomplishments of Barack Obama as either senator or president then write a hub on it.

Thanks

New study shows ObamaCare increases deficit, knocking down president's vow

@Rasman1....Let me first say this, if indeed you hold any conservative views, you have not exhibited it here. Secondly, denial is not an effective counter. Thirdly, you might try the links Jon Ewall has posted above. I find Mr. Dobbs to be quite credible in his viewpoint in that he is more a scholar of economics that sensation news. He makes it quite clear to his audience that he does not serve things up without checking them out first. From a socialist standpoint, just look at the government....Obama has grown it by approx. 18% in just over three years...nothing but overhead but that is not the point. The government is being positioned to be the center of the socialist universe which he desires to create. 49% of all households receive some type of government check, more people are on food stamps now than ever in our history, and Obama continues to grow social programs both to gain votes for the continuation of his direction and to make the government the focuse that every citizen looks to for their subsistence. He is open down on the private sector and the military. He circumvents Congress at every turn using executive orders to do things that should be voted upon by the people's elected representatives. He has little or no respect for the Constitution referring to it as an "outmoded document" and here he is supposedly a Magna Cum Laude graduate in law and yet he has so little respect for the Constitution or the Rule of Law. If you want to put some effort in what someone is hiding, put your energy into Obama...there are far more roads to follow that lead to stone walls than you can ever define with Romney. Regardless of who the Republican nominee is for this election, that point is secondary, to seeing Obama become a one term president. The economic and financial survival of the country are at stake....there is plenty evidence out there to support that position for Obama has done absolutely nothing in that regard since his first day in office. His focus is on two things...massive expansion of social programs and breaking the financial back of America. Along the way, you will see that he also guts the military, a process which is already taking shape. Once we are far enough down that path, more and more of our laws and regulations will be driven by the United Nations, taxes will skyrocket, productivity will go down significantly, and the poor will get even poorer and look even more toward the government for their existence, and there will be far more of them than ever before in history. Argue against that if you will and I cannot imagine why anyone of a conservative slant would unless they were not conservative at all. WB

There is a new book out, Wayne, that backs up many of your assertions about Obama's lack of expertise, leadership and stunning lack of experience. It's called 'The Amateur' written by a former NY Times editor, Edward Klein.

BO cannot run for re-election on his non-existent accomplishments so he must divert voters' attention by making tax returns an issue. Romney must counter by reminding voters what has occurred during Obama's single term: 1) America lost its triple A rating; 2) the nstional debt increased by almost $5 trillion - more than under any other president; 3) Obamacare contains a 4.5% tax increase; 4) Solyndra which contributed to his campaign went bankrupt costing American taxpayers half a billion dollars; and I could go on and on.

Just keep reminding us as you do so well, Wayne. Here is to NObama in NOvember.

@drbj....Yes, I have heard about that book...anxious to read it. You hit the nail on the head, Doc...Romney has plenty material to attack Obama head on and remain on the issues in doing it...far more than Obama has with his continuous distractions. Those who bite that bait are not listening nor are they paying attention to what has happened in the past three years. Thanks much! WB

It's not that people don't pay attention, it's that most voters would go for Satan were he their party's nominee. The issues don't matter to committed partisans, they're just cover for that hidden agenda, things to be rearranged to keep their man's gross deformities concealed and make his opponent look like evil incarnate. That's why it's so difficult to get anywhere with political discussion. It's doubly so on the Internet, where social standards are loose because your nose isn't going to get broken no matter how nasty, transparently deceptive, or bullheaded you are.

@JON EWALL....I think this will be the focus of the Obama campaign for the near term....attempt to discredit Ryan as much as possible. Unfortunately his base listens to no reasoning about any subject unless it comes out of Obama's mouth and the media does little to challenge Obama's claims. Romney's campaign effort must take the thrust of getting this message out by hammering it over and and over hopefully keeping Obama on the defense of his miserable performance. If nothing else, Ryan brings a particular affinity for the truth to the political arena. I just hope the truth can set us free once again. Thanks, Jon. ~WB

@ImKarn23....I don't think I can recall a time when our system of checks and balances functioned so poorly. When an administration comes into office and cannot produce even a budget yet spends wildly without so much as a caution from both sides of the aisle in Congress, you know things are breaking down. We have to get back to the focus...The Constitution and The Rule of Law; we have to get to work on fixing our financial situation which means that we will have to employ the word...."No!" Otherwise...we're gonners. Thanks much! ~WB

@Attikos...Your observations have great merit. How about someone getting on the issues and staying on them. Congress has failed the US. I believe that taxes are important. Since when did America decided that the guy that wants to work for us, can tell us that I don't need to show my taxes. We say "OK" that is cool but hey we better do everything in our power to see Obama's birth certificate. Hell let's spend millions to take it to court. Yet we don't wanna know rather a person cheated on their taxes.

I am so disappointed in the unwillingness to call things as you see them. We have become so complacent that we accept all that is pooned fed. Both sides have shown themselves to be of the worse kind. One side worse than they other for sure.

Where is the outcry of the voter suppression going on Pennsylvania?

Where was the outcry for 2 unpaid wars?

Where was the outcry for an unpaid prescription drug program?

Where was the outcry of going from a surplus to a deficit.

Obama has added 4 trillion dollars to the deficit OMG!!! but where was the outcry when the deficit swelled to 11 trillion before Obama walked in the door.

I think I will sit this election out. I am turned off by both sides. Lastly what the hell is Romney healthcare plan can any explain it to me. Romney sure has not laid out his plan. He has let me know that my mother who is now able to get health insurance with her pre-existing condition will be kicked off her insurance plan.

Can someone anyone tell me what he is going to replace it with or if there is a replacement.

@ Wayne I told you was an Independent that leans conservative. Yet because I don't want to engauge in Hate Obama, blame Obama rhetoric does not mean I not conservative. A conservative thinks for himself and makes up his own mind (liberty).

I don't fall in lock step with GOP talking points many of the points are not based in fact. I deal with facts not rhetoric. So Wayne I am sorry you feel I need to Obama bash in order to be considered a conservative. This is the problem with the GOP. They have pushed out the moderates and have went way to far right for my taste.

Conservative act as if they had forgotten what got this country in the mess we are in today. We can blame Obama till the cows come home but congress is responsible and until we change the whole congress Republican, Democrat, and independents the same old garbage ,will continue.

Here is an Example: Can anyone point me to the hate speech that the Obama campaign has laid out there? The GOP says that the Obama campaign is spewing hate. OK who is the Hate SPEECH directed to? Is it black people, White people, Mexicans, Chinese or native American. Who is the Obama admin spreading hate against?

I can not vote on hear say or high strung rhetoric period. Obama will not get congress to get much done in a second term and Romney will hit a stone wall as well. CONGRESS IS BROKEN AND IT IS THE FAULT OF THE PEOPLE.

@Rasman1....I am not asking you to "Obama-Bash", I am asking to look at what he is doing to us. I never have seen a project of a 11 trillion dollar deficit prior to Obama coming to office. As for a surplus, the budget at the tire for the entire year was just over 1 trillion dollars versus double that figure now and growing and the deficit gap was not too large....Clinton saw the ring and grabbed for knowing that it was the only legacy he might achieve. Even Bush's deficit spending did not get out of hand until the Democrat dominated Congress too over in early 2007. Obama has made no effort to quit spending, on the contrary, he has invented new ways that Congress, quite adept at it, could not think of. Sadly, the vast majority of that money never got anywhere near the level of you and I nor was it intended to get there. As for the tax situation....why does Romney need to do anymore on that subject than anyone who preceded him in office....two years for the most part, one in others. I also do not think you'll have any problems seeing Romney's birth certificate if they asked for it. Hopefully, someone will do a better job of vetting him than they did on Obama. A few years back when the Democrats fell in the the minority, in the early Bush years, they came forward and demanded that compromise be allowed them in the participation process of legislation. There is no compromise offered in reverse....Obama's way or the highway...that's it with Harry Reid and company keeping the doors shut tight on anything even getting to the floor...you are right on that point, the Congress has failed but the only part of it the Republicans own is slowing down what would be an even more rapid rate of spending if the Democrats still owned the place. There is not and never will be a case in which a government has save itself and motivated an economy by increasing spending when it is drowning in debt and has the private sector chained up in the back room. If you truly lean conservative, I hardly think you could see anything in what going on at present in the government as a good thing for America...it is the doomsday express all the way down the line and by the time enough people wake up and realize it, the train will be off the track and in the weeds. ~WB

Facts wayne facts. So what if the Dems had the congress the last 2 years of Bush. He still signed off on the legislation. No for me any party that claims they will do anything to make a sitting president a 1 term president is admitting that they will not work with him. So Obama rejected compromise ok Wayne please give the facts.

As for your claim about Bush and the Deficit it to is a false claim. Bush expanded the deficit from a surplus to a 5.1 trillion dollar deficit. How can you even defend that. Do you have information that contradicts these numbers. How do you explain these numbers http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/add...

Wayne please educate yourself and don't blindly follow talking points. Talking points are going to be the undoing of the Republican party. By the way Wayne you never did post the Hate Speech Obama is engaging in.

Explain these numbers are they false if so please post your sources so we all can learn for our selves. I would like you t prove obama is the reason the deficit is 15 trillion and please explain were the other 10 trillion dollars came from Cause according to the numbers the deficit is 5 trillion you must add that the 2 unpaid wars were costing the country 2 trillion dollars a year from 2003-2010 is that part of the deficit Obama's fault.

What about the unpaid Bush tax cuts that continue to cost the country a trillion a year. That I have to admit is Obama fault cause he should have killed those deficit creating tax cuts when he got into office.

That adds up to 3 trillion dollars oh did I forget the Unpaid prescription drug program that cost this country another trillion a year. Where was your outrage then Wayne. Yet it is easier to blame Obama.

I am not going to play that game I prefer facts and lately it seems facts do not matter. So now the so called conservative party wants me to vote for the guy that is going to do what Bush did but on steroids. Well Hell No!!!!

I will not swallow the Romney pill. I would have like to see Jon Huntsman or even Collin Powell but no the Republicans want crazy faaaaar right nut jobs to control this country. Republicans beware cause many are voting against their own interest

How can "so called" conservatives explain these numbers

@Rasman1....Don't lecture me on facts then come around here with links to the Washington Post. You might check the CBO figures on spending during the Bush administration rather than taking something out of a rag like that. You have the same problem with the tax cuts that too many liberals in Washington have....you keep counting them again and again because you keep spending the money that you don't have and have not had for a few years. You go right ahead and vote that liberal ballot and see what it gets you in terms of anything of a conservative nature that you might believe in like the Constitution or the Rule of Law. Give Obama four more years and you will not believe the sad state of affairs in this country....in fact I doubt that you will recognize it. Thanks Wayne for the info. Finally I say. The hate Speech comes form the Romeny Campaign claiming Obama's campaign is a campaign of hate. I just assumed you believe the same rhetoric.

I see you don't so there is no need to show where the hate is directed.

Ok wayne so here is the presidents budget report by CBO. Looks to me the problem is loss of revenue from all the tax cuts. Here's what was interesting. The President in his budget said that for the Estate tax and gifts he would make up to 3.5 million exempt and any amount above 3.5 million will be taxed 45% damn that is alot but it on more than 3.5 Million.

I don't mind tax cuts unless they are paid for. This budget has massive tax cuts in it that are driving up the deficit estimates. CBO made this clear in the report. They Also claim that the baseline is different because of the difference in economic assumptions. Ok Wayne love the info you provided even though the CBO report is where we both will find the true numbers and the reason why CBO scored things they way they did. http://www.cbo.gov/sites/default/files/cbofiles/at...

@Rasman1....I don't buy it. If you look back to Clinton's last budget year in office (1999)...."The Great Democratic Utopia") and use that as your base year, coming up to year 2012, we see the spending outlay has increased by a factor of 110%. On the revenue side through year 2012 (with the Bush Tax Cuts in place), the revenue stream has increased over the base year 1999 by only a factor of 43%. If we assume that the tax cuts are allowed to expire at the end of 2012, the revenue stream estimates say that the increase will be approximately $423 billion dollars for 2013 giving us an estimated revenue of just over 2.9 trillion dollars for the year. Comparing that to the base of 1999, the revenue increase sits at 61%....significantly short of the growth in spending against the base and still netting almost a one trillion dollar deficit for the fiscal year. Spending is definitely the problem. Would more revenue be good...certainly but in the government "more revenue = more spending" so the effect is neutralized at best.

YEAR SPENT REVENUE DEFICIT

2013 (est) $ 3.803 T $ 2.902 T $ 903 B (w/o Bush Tax Cuts)

Don’t waste your time on budgets, Obama and the Senate have not had one approved in 4 years. In 2011, the year the Republicans took over the House , they passed a budget ( Ryan budget )

The CBO gets the numbers from the Obama administration ( wrong numbers 45% of the time), it’s all hokus pokus.

Rasman1

‘’Looks to me the problem is loss of revenue from all the tax cuts’’ Where do you believe that revenue comes from? Revenue comes from business making PROFIT and from people working besides many other taxes imposed on the taxpayers and private industries.

House passed 30 Jobs bills and have sent them to the Senate for LEGISLATION action .

,Obama or Reid telling the truth?

http://www.majorityleader.gov/JobsTracker/

‘’What about the unpaid Bush tax cuts that continue to cost the country a trillion a year.’’

The Bush tax cuts occurred in 2001 and 2003, today any reference to tax cuts is a distortion of a fact, they are tax rates for ALL classes of taxpayers today .Obama continues to say the rich are getting a tax cut is a distortion and a half truth.

The CBO recently reported that the 2012 budget will incur a $1.1 deficit. Since Obama has been in office ,the deficits are over $5.4 trillion adding to the national debt.

A simple fact is that Obama ( 2009-2012) and the Congressional Democrat leadership (2007-2012) has made the economy worst. The recession started in Dec.2007 and ended in June 2009.
