America Leading Natural Gas Supplier

Most in the World

Alaska and Texas are the current leaders in oil production in the United States. This could all change soon if the Bakken Shale Oil is allowed to be produced. The Bakkens has the most oil reserve in the world. it is conservatively estimated the oil could last 2041 years.

This oil mass is primarily in North Dakota but also stretches into Montana and Canada. Natural gas has also been discovered in this same area. Natural gas has also been claimed to be throughout Pennsylvania and New York. Enough to produce for America to be totally independent of any gas any other country of the world may offer. It is estimated that the natural gas of these two states would last " several generations." This is even if every car in America was changed over to run on natural gas. We have so much coal, shale, oil and natural gas in this country we would never have to buy another drop of anything from any other country, ever. The Alaskan pipeline supply currently sits in the San Francisco Bay waiting to be sent to Japan. We send nearly 90% of that oil over to the Japanese. The reason being we simply do not have the refinery space need to produce this crude. It takes nearly ten years to build a refinery, so why wait? The jobs created would be in the hundreds if not thousands to take on building refineries in several states. My opinion would be to build in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and somewhere closer to the East Coast. This will put Americans to work creating jobs across the country. Sure during the construction of refineries the cost will be great. But in the end we could see estimated by the report on the Bakkens oil at $25.00 a barrel. Could you imagine having gas at less than $1.00 a gallon again? Think what that would do for the economy of the U.S.A.! It is time to write all our politicians and demand we get going on this important drilling. I know the environmentalists will insist on not doing this. But have you read the reports of the Alaskan Pipeline? Since it was finished wildlife has flourished. TOil needs to be warm to flow through the lines. With the warming it has created a safe haven for wild life in Alaska. The Caribou have prospered being able to find shelter from the Alaskan cold. Plants and trees have also flourished from the benefit of the warmth of the pipelines. It has provided longer growing periods for both animals and plant life in Alaska. The positives have far out weighed the negatives. The one negative we need to get past is sending it to Japan.

 AMERICAN FOOD SOURCES

Do you know America is the only country in the world able to grow every plant food source in the world? Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas grow more rice than the rest of the world combined. Most of our imported food is for cheapness. It is simply cheaper to import than grow and harvest.

I could keep listing examples but I will draw to a close soon. Let me start that close with this.  The United States is the only country in the world able to be totally self sufficient.  Total self reliance on food and oil. It is time we start relying on our own self sufficiency.

Then from our abundance we can help the rest of the world that honors what we have to give. If we ever get to that point we could create hundreds of thousand of jobs here in the U.S.A. Our trillions of dollars of debt would be erased. Our gas and oil no longer would have to be a huge part of our monthly budgets. Our grocery bills would be the same. Imagine a quarter for a loaf of bread again. We could virtually end the need of food stamps though this. More people would be able to find jobs and the welfare system could nearly be a thing of the past. BUT, what do I know I'm just a dumb truck driver.

I hope that your hub influences a lot of people to appreciate what kind of resources are looked within this country. It is a shame that we do not have access to certain resources and that it takes a government to start a new process to just help this country. I have relatives who are permanent residents in Alaska and I hope that I could post this to my Facebook so that they can see someone as you takes a concern in the need to improve our environment and our economy. Thanks Michael for your information. Peace to you wherever you may travel.

CM CASTRO,

thank you so much, unfortunately too many people want to believe what the government tells them that resource wise we are up a creek with out a paddle. It is all the different special interest groups that keeps us from using what we have. It truly is shameful.

America has always had this capacity and quantity of Gas. The US. Government would rather sit on it then to use it. Greed pure and simple. All of America and Canada should not be suffering financially in our homes or at the pumps if it were not for the greed of a handful.

Dave,

EXACTLY! You are exactly right on your reply. It had become easier to get foreign oil in the early 1900's up to 1974 and the oil embargo. We should have learned our lesson then.

Michael I hope that every person that relies upon natural gas or gasoline can one day soon find an alternative to make this reserve that the oil companies are sitting on redundant and useless, I hope that every auto in north america becomes replaced by one of the new hybrid cars where gas is not used, to put these hoarders out of demand and leaves them sitting on something totally useless.

Dave ,

I see your point, I have read the Bakken report many times and the report of those that have worked on it. It is amazing the supply that is available. Enough to last over 2000 years? What is up with that? Could you imagine paying less than $ 1.00 a gallon again? It would take 10 years or so but that is what the result would be. We plain do not need Saudi or any other countries oil.

Michael you're right and I have known this for more than 30 years. Funny how we Canadians get this info, and seem to get it far ahead of you Americans. Truth be known we should be paying about $0.40 (fourty cents per gallon) instead of the prices we are forced to pay and if you check it out further, there are hidden taxes built into the price per gallon that no one seems to question.

Michael,

What a shame! So much waste and we just let it happen. The problem is really "us".

Lifegate,

True somehow some politician somewhere needs to have the nerve to make this all happen, or we could all put it on our hearts and not let it out of our prayer life.

Dave,

I sure wish our representatives would do something about the taxes on gas, I know someone here will help me out I think it is like 50 cents per gallon tax.
