Antoine Takes On the Washington Elite

C'est Moi, Antoine...

Good Morning breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, December 9, 2013. I have a new friend with me this morning. His name is Antoine and he is a hardworking member of the ant family. Antoine is more than a little bit concerned about Washington's tendency to pass laws that they themselves are exempt from. Won't you give Antoine a few minutes of your time and hear what he has to say?

Bonjour mes amis. Il est moi, Antoine. This disaster called ObamaCare has revealed itself in all of its ugliness. Those you trusted to represent you in Washington have betrayed you.

Let's take a look at Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Is Sir Harry Reid going to sign up for the exchanges in the same way you have to? No, he isn't. Should he have to? Yes, of course, he should. The same is true for Lady Nancy Pelosi. It is also true of John Boehner. The list is long so let's just say that they will be the privileged among you who will never have to face the pain of sticker shock.

This may have been the first bi-partisan effort made by Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader Reid. They worked together to get their people out from under the economic burden of government style healthcare.

Despite Nancy Pelosi's claim that she and everyone else would enroll in ObamaCare the truth is something quite different. She and her staff and the rest of the privileged in Washington will be receiving fabulous subsidies to pay for their insurance. How many of you will be receiving subsidies? Washington will be spared the pain of higher insurance costs. You will not be so lucky.

While you were sleeping and I was creeping around the White House, secret meetings were taking place to ensure that the Congressional elite would be spared the pain of the Unaffordable Care Act. President Obama was a willing participant in all of this. He changed the law by waving his magic wand, thereby exempting Washington. The provision to exempt Washington from higher costs isn't in the bill. But never mind, this President has the power to "change" your world if he cares to. Trust me on this, he cares to and he is doing it without consequence.

So, mes amis, where does this leave you? Sadly, it leaves you in a very precarious position. Many of you have already lost your insurance. Many more of you will lose it eventually. You were told that if you like your insurance you could keep it. That was a lie. You were told that if you like your doctor you could keep your doctor. That too was a lie. Now you are being told that if you like your doctor you can pay more to see him or her. Most of you will be shocked to see the true high cost of the Unaffordable Care Act. Many of you won't be able to afford it at all.

President Obama has dismantled a once great healthcare system to please the 15 percent of the population who didn't have insurance. In doing so he destroyed insurance for the 85 percent of the population that actually liked their policies. There is nothing just about this move. The problems of the 15 percent could have been addressed without destroying a system that worked. But, let's get real about this situation. ObamaCare was never about covering the uniinsured. It is about allowing the government to take control over one-sixth of your economy. It is about power. It is about socialized medicine. The one thing it is not about is YOU!

THey Have Turned Their Backs On You

VERS LE BAS AVEC OBAMACARE! Build a better system. Au revoir, Antoine....

Antoine, I have that feeling that we have met before, but my memory is not what it used to be. If I am wrong, it is a genuine pleasure meeting you here on Hub Pages.

We are living in the age of "Do what I say, not what I do" with this administration. I strongly object to this behavior by our elected leaders. They must be forced to live under the very rules they impose on we peasants. I have no idea how this can be accomplished but perhaps you do?

Good Morning Mike,

Perhaps we met in another lifetime. As far as this lifetime is concerned, I hesitate to say that the unrest we are experiencing today reminds me of the French Revolution. Instead of arms, the people should march to the polls and throw all the bums out. I will await your arrival at the Inn. Perhaps a French wine is in order.

Antoine: I am taking a bit of music history from the Fiur Tops--

It's the same old song but with different meaning when the truth is gone--

Let's sing it at the inn tonight!

Good Morning txlarry,

Are you sure it's the Fiur Tops. Personally, I never heard of them, but then again I m an ant! In any case, I love the lyrics and the fact that you thought of them. I will start getting my voice in shape for this evening. Can't wait!

POP: Congress always exempts itself from the laws it passes on to Americans. This is soooo wrong! If the laws pertained to them, then they would be much better, and in the case of the the ACA, much less expensive. Tell Antoine to stay out of the WH kitchen so he won't get stomped on. We need his eyes and ears in the WH.

I'm off to the Inn. Save me a seat.....

Bienvenue, Antoine. Yes, the part where he said that "the people" can keep their insurance even though they can't was truly mind boggling to me, but much more so to insurance companies who already knew this latest edict was a logistical nightmare that could not be easily changed, if at all. In other words, the president passed the buck. Ah, well, he seems to believe that his is privilege.

Shall we toast to our health at the inn tonight, Antoine?

"Peut-ĂȘtre pas."

I agree... "perhaps not."

Bonjour Pino,

C'est moi, Antoine. I never set foot in the WH kitchen. It is Valerie Jarrett I am interested in along with the WH log. As for passing laws that Congress is unaffected by... it should be banned once and for all. Congress is loaded with hypocrites and every singe last one of them should be booted out of office and out of our lives. See you at Le Inn.

Ah Antoine! The latest spin on "you can keep your doctor PERIOD" is that you indeed can if you are willing to pay more to keep your doctor. Did I miss something else Obama said that he didn't really say?

Time to throw the bums out next November.

Antoine, You hit the nail on the head. What is happening in our country is pathetic. There is no one to trust and no one that seems to be making anything change for the better. We now live in a dictatorship it seems to me. Thanks for sharing your views.

Bon Soir Pamela,

Yes, this is not the America you grew up in. This president feels it is his right to change the rules, circumvent the Constitution and bypass the will of the American people. In France, this was cause for revolution. See you at the Inn. I await your arrival with great anticipation.

I know that both parties engage in hypocrisy, however in the last six years, I think the Democrats have come to own that word. Correction, the Democrats have redistributed it so much that hypocrisy is now considered a Democrat right.

Dear Cassie,

You are, of course, absolutely right. Shame on the Dems for forgetting about what is best for their constituents. Shame on the Repubs for not fighting hard enough for those who put them in office, What is truly disgusting is the fact that we have a president who is perfectly comfortable lying to the American people. When is enough ...enough? I think we have reached meltdown. See you at the Inn. I may sleep here tonight.

You nailed it, bp, with the name: Unaffordable Care Act. What a disaster this legislation is. Nice to see you back ... where you belong!

Good Morning drbj,

It is great to be back. Thanks for the warm welcome. As for the Unaffordable Care Act, with each passing day we will discover just how expensive it is. Now we know we can't keep our insurance, our doctor or our prescriptions. The only thing left to lose is our minds See you at the Inn where sane people go for comfort and friendship.

Yes, it is about power and socialism -- we are not even part of this equation.

Dear teaches,

Yes, the equation has left so many of us out in the cold. What has happened to the land of the free and the home of the brave?
