Arab-Muslim Crunch

The Innocent Shouldn't Become Victims

Motive--Staying out of their territory is what the terrorists want, but not so much the regular people. They are just like anyone else, wanting to raise their families in peace, live and let live. But only the terrorists make the news, far less than one percent. They are criminals with a cause, a justification strangely centered on religion.

Crunch Time--At this point, the West has to make a decision. After Paris, just as after 9/11, a decision is needed. What's the beef now? It's not Charlie Hebdo still is it? Like the Russian plane the week before, the motive was involvement in Syria. Russia and France got involved, of course against Isil, the anti-Western, dictatorial group who seek to divorce their beloved Arab-Muslim people and culture from any and all intermingling with Westerners.

The Innocent People--Yet thousands of Muslims seek refuge in France because of her generous and broadminded view of religion and philosophy. Although Charlie Hebdo (January 2015) and Paris Attacks (November 13, 2015) were perpetrated by different Arab-Muslim terrorists (Yemen alQaeda and Syrian Isil, respectively) the motive was the sameā€”to keep Westerners out of Arab-Muslim countries. Ironically, that's the safest route for the West to take to avoid further terrorism.

The Not So Innocent--But profit-making business interests dictate differently and press for annihilation of terrorist groups in Yemen and Syria. This is just for starters. Like alQaeda, which migrated from Pakistan into Yemen, Isil also can migrate out of Syria and into any other Arab-Muslim nation that will have her. It's international law enforcement with an emphasis on truce and buying time, hope and avoidance of war. It's negotiation, killing, and hatred all mixed together. This is crunch time for the Arab-Muslim world.

The Motivation to Avoid War--If public opinion spills over, there will be a blood bath of a war. Millions of innocent Arab-Muslim families will be annihilated for the less than one percent who perpetrate the terrorist crimes like the Paris episode November 13, 2015.

War, like terrorist violence, is the greatest insult to mankind. Isn't it obvious that only the young men get involved in the killing. But the innocent are killed too, unsuspecting and unarmed, they are going about their lives like just about everyone else in the world, the 99% who are not inclined to commit murder and violence, whose beliefs and values are just as secure and strong as those of a suicide bomber, but whose nature, unlike that of the bomber, is serene and innocent.

Those are the people who vote against a war unless they are persuaded otherwise by politicians and their own lack of faith in whatever keeps them from fearing things like war. If public opinion spills over into war, there will be scars, regrets, and horrors worst than any terror so far.

The Viewpoint of the Average Citizen--Hardly anyone wants to see a war, much less the soldier who has to fight it. But the average citizen, like a comfortable arm-chair quarterback watching a game on TV, wants revenge for the outrage that terrorists perpetrate. On second thought, revenge turns into separatist and isolationist thinking.

The peaceful way is to give the terrorist group whatever they want so that they no longer will have anything to fight for. But the average citizen hasn't the ability or authority to do anything, whether it's declare war or withdraw all contact with nations characterized by terrorist groups.

The lack of power of the average citizen, except to vote for someone who expresses the viewpoint he or she likes the most, is what makes people feel frustrated. But when the leaders of nations themselves and the legislators themselves can't decide the best course, then the average citizens feel comfortable knowing there aren't any easy answers.

Fighting terrorism is hard because the terrorists act in secret, undercover, almost invisibly. But each nation, France or America, has her own undercover agents. The problem is that it's almost impossible to infiltrate into the terrorist groups. It's just as impossible to find them in the first place.

The average citizen then is left doing what the presidents, legislators, and terrorists themselves are doing in each country around the world. That is, they are left holding onto whatever is their source of faith and waiting for some sign telling them how to end the recurring nightmare of terrorist attacks and mayhem.
