Better Examples For a Better World
I start my day reading every message God has for my spirit, soul and flesh, which will enable my whole being to confront daily situations positively. I want to begin this article with today’s quote from a “day beginner quotes book” (my mom gave it to me in 1996, for the cause):
“There is no better answer to a child’s negative attitude than a positive example.”
Turning the radio to listen to the correct time, weather and “something” else (updating how is the outside world examples to our children) before stepping forward into the day, I heard recent news that left sorrow, preoccupation, and deep sadness.
Like most citizens of this country, we are appalled by the violence and social decay that shows the unfortunate death of the publisher, Jose Enrique Gomez, after a withdrawal of $400.00 dollars. According to the autopsy, Gomez was hit with an object that could have been a fist and it caused serious bodily injury. His body showed burns. Involved in the crime are two males and two females, whom authorities are investigating. The two males and a female have been arrested. Public outcry forced parents of two of the suspects to surrender their children and confess their involvement in the incident. Enrique Gomez's car was burned and more money from his bank account was attempted to be withdrawn. The case is still being investigated.
What are we going to do?
The desperation of wanting more that is not owned push people to a blind moment; tempting to break rules, commit crimes, hurt somebody, and to live a sinful life. This is the example that our children are receiving by the actual society, in which each day drowns into an unhealthy life style, practicing every kind of impurity with greediness.
What are we going to do? Are we going to keep promoting the “bad” stuff? What kind of examples we will keep giving our children?
I am proud of the parents of these kids that brought them in to receive legal justice for what they did. Love must be tough and though it must hurt to give in, our own people… it could be worse to live being complicit of crime. Crime is of no worth. Crime corrupts, and has bad endings.
I do not trust completely, the way earthly justice (many times) makes decisions. I either believe that prison promotes a reeducation system that makes a notable transformation of the prisoner when put back in the free community.
We are not alone
The world is big, and the people are individually different. We need to identify necessity in ourselves, our family, and around us. Then we need to identify the resources available in our neighborhood that are waiting to help, heal, encourage, motivate and work toward a better world.
The H.O.W. (Humanity One World) movement is sharing great articles toward the goal of a better world. Our future is in the hands of the children we raise today. What they see, hear and experience will be in great part the formation of choices, ideas, opinions, attitudes and behaviors. I encourage reading these articles out loud to the children around you.
I will also encourage reading the Bible…all the answers are there.
There is more than sitting up straight, saying thank you or putting the elbows on a table; Ephesians 4 gives the following examples for a better world:
Comprise with yourself
Compromise with yourself to give better examples for a better world. If we all do, our children will have a better world to live in peace and love.
Blessings to all!
