Beetle Belle is at the Table

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Tuesday, February 16, 2016. Cops are dying, the debates are getting uglier, Hillary is still out of handcuffs, and President Obama still has his pen and his phone. The government has plans to place "partners" at your breakfast table telling you how to raise your family. Please join Beetle Belle and me for a chat and enjoy a beautiful assortment of cheese danishes. Belle is quite the baker, and I know how to create delicious Irish coffees. We hope to see you soon.

Knock, Knock!

Thank you all for joining Pop and me this morning. The next time you hear a knock at the door, take extra time to find out who's there before you open the door. It just may be agents of the government coming to pay you a visit and educate you in the art of parenting. The U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services want entry into your home. Their goal is to become "equal partners" with you and every institution or person that touches your child's life. "Partnering" is such a benign term, but it means that Big Brother wants to monitor and assess just how you are raising your family. They will also authorize local agencies to check up on you and weigh in on how parents parent. The initiative calls for schools to assess families needs and wants. I'm not sure what that translates to in government terms, but in my head it means more interference on the part of government, and that cannot be a good thing. The Obama administration wants to call out the troops and set them right in the middle of your family. They will galvanize schools, teachers, social workers and mental health workers and sic them upon America. I wonder, who will assess the experts?

Bad Policy

It is not surprising that a policy like this would bring emerge out of the Obama Big Government machine. This administration is positive that anything you can do, they can do better. Michelle Obama knows how to feed your children. Her change in policy didn't fill the stomachs of hungry school kids as much as it filled the garbage cans. Common Core is another example of our government hard at work trying to screw things up. Kids who used to now how to add and subtract are now scratching their heads in frustration. The Obama backed community schools are ready for expansion. Critics refer to them as parental-replacement centers. Those in government, and I mean Republicans too, believe that they have the right to tell the rest of us how to live properly. That alone is a sick joke any way you look at it. Perhaps you recall retired Education Secretary Arne Duncan telling all of us the he intended to turn our kids into "green" and "global" citizens. I'm relieved he retired, but there are many Duncan's out there ready and eager to get the job done.

Pay Attention

These changes won't be introduced with great fanfare. They will slip in in the dead of night or when Congress is in recess. Actually, it shouldn't be hard because Congress is always in recess. Cut through the fancy language and see this policy for what it is, a gigantic intrusion into your life. The government wants to raise your kids and grandkids, and unless all of you step up to the plate and put an end to it, it will happen. In fact, it is already happening. There is nothing benign about this agenda. It is dangerous and sinister. The government is trying to build model little citizens that act exactly as Big Brother wants them to act. If you are wondering where you fit into this picture, you don't!

Our Way or the Highway

I have an idea of what it feels like to be told what to do every step of the way. Just writing this hub was the perfect example for me. The powers that be offered "guidance" and advice with every sentence i wrote. At one point a picture of Martin Luther King appeared on my hub. Martin Luther King had nothing to do with my topic, so I had to bid him good-bye. If I want advice on how to write, I'll ask. In fact I'll ask my friend Billy! Hubpages, the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Education should back off and let people live their lives. We already have systems in place to help families and children who are in trouble. Why not make an effort to bring those services up to speed. The bottom line is, stop the meddling. We are not specimens for a science experiment. Bug Off!

Belle's Song

Washington, Washington

The whole year through

Just an old sour song

That keeps Washington on my mind....
